NIGERIA AUTO AWARDS 2007.

There were two big shows yesterday at Eko Hotel.
One was Basketmouth Uncensored and the second was the 2007 edition of the Nigeria Auto Awards put together by On Wheels Magazine. This particular event held at the Banquet Hall of the Eko Hotel. I wasn't there but I got a little gist from the event and a list of winners of this award. I took a particular interest in this event 'cos I love cars...I really really love cars. When I make my first million, I'm squandering it on a car lol. I hope somebody doesn't see this....whatever!

Anyway, like I said earlier, the event was organised by On Wheels Magazine and was MC'ed by funny comedian Koffi. Azeezat and music group Spirit Of David performed. There was a fashion show by up-coming designer Austin Dako Azuka.

Here are the winners of the event
Most Organised Transport Company Of The Year - ABC Transport

Most Preferred Tyre Brand Of The Year (Car) - Pirelli

Most Preferred Tyra Brand Of The Year (Truck) - Dunlop

Highest Selling Auto Brand Of The Year - Kia

Most Improved Auto Brand Of The Year - Chevrolet

Best After-sales Service Company - Stallion Motors

Inspirational New Auto Entry Award - Chery Motors

Small Auto Car Of The Year - Peugeot 2006

Auto Brand Of The Year - Toyota

I don't know their criteria for selecting but I don't think Toyota is the car brand of the year. It should have either been a Honda (that's what I drive lol) or a BMW. Did you guys see all the brand of BMW cars released into the market last year? I have a friend who has the new BWM convertible and inside just looks like the inside of a Jet. Beyond words!

But what do I know about cars other than how to drive it? They must have done a thorough assessment before choosing winners...or maybe they didn't. You never know with these people. Sometimes they give awards based on who they know, who is sponsoring the event, who they think will re-enforce them for giving them awards. Or maybe it's really based on merit. Ok...moving on...

What is your car brand of the year?
