Statement from the organisers of Music Meets Runway

Early this morning, one of the major headliners of the highly anticipated show, Music Meets Runway, Amber Rose tweeted that she will not be coming to Nigeria to host Music Meets Runway 2011.

Due to recent developments of Amber Roses nude photos that surfaced on the internet last week, we were in discussion as to what to do about the situation with some of our sponsors who had understandably shown some concern. We were still in discussions with our sponsors to accommodate Amber when we read Amber Roses tweet about her not being booked to host Music Meets Runway.

Amber has indeed been booked and paid for through a reputable international booking agent and we were as surprised as anyone to see the tweet.

Amber's management company, Behind Her Shades, have also said no one approached them about any show in Nigeria.

I wonder what's going on. We're expecting a statement from the publicist for the Music Meets Runway event regarding Amber's denials, shortly. So stay tuned!

Meanwhile, Music Meets Runway will definitely hold on the 9th of July at the Expo Centre, Eko Hotel, with or without Amber Rose.

The drive-by shooting in Lagos involving Luxe Night Club manager

I told you all about a drive-by shooting that occurred a few weeks back in Lagos. Well, here's the full story. The guy above is Shola Farinloye, Luxe Night Club (Former New Grotto on Etim Inyang, VI) manager. Shola was shot in a drive-by shooting that occurred in front the club he manages on Sunday the 5th of June.

Shola told reporters exactly what happened on the night he was shot.

"On the 5th of June, I was at Luxe Night Club and at about 4am, when we were almost rounding up, one of my cleaners came to call me that there was a fight between a guy and two ladies. I went to where the quarrel was happening and asked the guy what the problem, he refused to talk to me and was bent on physically assaulting the ladies. When the guy proved too difficult to control, I asked my bouncers to escort him out of the club.

The little girl who had her vagina and rectum mutilated, needs your help!

5year old Pwashikai Nideno was kidnapped from her home in Dong Village, Adamawa State on the 6th of May by ritualists who mutilated her vagina and rectum and left her for dead in a bush. Fortunately, the little girl cheated death by crawling on her own to a foot path where she was discovered by a woman going to fetch firewood in the early hours of May 7.

Pwashikai was rushed to the hospital soaked in her own blood and her intestine dangling outside her body. How she survived has amazed everyone, even the doctors treating her at the Yola Specialist Hospital’s children surgical ward where she's currently hospitalized.

Not only was her vagina and rectum mutilated, the thin layer separating the two was also mutilated. The miracle-girl currently cannot pass faeces through her rectum. Her abductors have since been caught. Continue to read more...

That’s my “take-home message” from the headlines emerging from a new Morgan Stanley report, which predicts Nigeria’s economy will overtake South Africa’s as Africa’s largest by 2025.

High oil prices, the “decisive” election of President Goodluck Jonathan and buoyant consumer spending will all push Nigeria’s economy into the front in the next 15 years, says the Morgan Stanley survey. Critics in South Africa say they are not concerned about the prospect of the country losing its spot as the largest economy on the continent.

Rest In Peace Omozoje Titilayo Oyakhire

Titilayo was a mother, daughter, sister and friend, who had so much going for her. She was young, only in her twenties, had a good job, a beautiful daughter, a lot of dreams she wanted to accomplish but on Friday June 24, her life was violently cut short by her husband, Akolade Lukeman Arowolo, who stabbed her multiple times, then dismembered her body. Now he blames the devil!

If you are in an abusive relationship, then please look at Titi, look at her and ask yourself...why am I letting this happen to me? Don't I deserve better? Marriage is a wonderful thing, but when it's abusive physically or emotional, then it's ugly and God don't like ugly. 

A man who physically hurts you is worthless and doesn't deserve your time, your body, your peace of mind or your life. Think about it, what could be worst than being in constant physical and emotional pain? What's worst than the shame, the degradation, the shattering of self-worth, being constantly depressed, anxious, scared of someone you are supposed to love? What's worst than that? If you’re afraid of being alone, be more afraid of what will happen to you if you stay. You think Titi envisaged this would happen to her?

There's no shame in being divorced or single, the world might talk about it, but only for a little while. But if you die, the world will move on, and your children will suffer without you there to guide and protect them. Staying in an abusive relationship is not even healthy for your children. If you can't walk away for yourself, then do it for them. Living with an abusive man is no way to live. Let him go, he's not worth it! Please think about it.

Late Titilayo and the husband who killed her

Details have emerged of how Akolade Arowolo, a jobless graduate, suspected to have killed his banker wife, Titilayo, last Friday was arrested by the police. 

Akolade was arrested on Saturday at their residence at 8, Akindehinde Street, Isolo around 11pm.
“He came back to his flat the next day at about 11 pm; perhaps, to pick up a few things before making good his escape. Policemen had already laid ambush and were waiting. He was immediately arrested.
Titilayo’s family have been contacted and they have taken custody of her daughter. Kolade is now in the custody of the SCID, Panti,” the source, a policeman, said.

The person's hands must touch the sides of the body, and having a photograph of the participant taken and posted on the internet is an integral part of the game. Players compete to find the most unusual and original location in which to play. And it's become quite popular in many parts of the world. Nigerian man flies from JFK to LA with invalid ID, expired boarding pass

A Nigerian national was able to board a flight from Kennedy Airport to Los Angeles without a valid passport or ID -- and carrying someone else's expired boarding pass.

Olajide Oluwaseun Noibi cleared security last Friday to board Virgin America Flight 415 and travel to Los Angeles International Airport, FOX News Channel reported Thursday.

The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) confirmed Noibi was screened at JFK, but said it could not comment further due to the ongoing FBI investigation.

Police Chase Ends With Driver Getting Burnt

A 35-year-old man, Ogbona Stephen, was almost burnt to death yesterday morning when policemen in Abuja reportedly shot at his vehicle in an attempt to arrest him for plying the wrong route.

The tricycle burst into flames and Mr. Stephen ran out of the vehicle, his whole body ablaze eye witnesses report. Many people took to their heels at the sight, but a few stripped leaves from trees which they used to smother the driver’s flaming body. According to the witnesses, the good samaritans then apparently laid him on the side of the road near the fence of the Anglican Girls Grammar School, Abdulsalami Abubakar way and covered his naked body with more leaves. Many people taught he was dead hurried past, but one man apparently took the trouble of checking and confirmed that he was still breathing and therefore alive.
