It seems this government is planning on taxing Nigerians to death- Ex PDP youth leader, Deji Adeyanju, says

Former PDP Youth Leader, Deji Adeyanju, says the Buhari-led government is planning to tax Nigerians to death. On his twitter handle, Adeyanju said Nigerians cannot continue to pay tax for politicians to loot.

Recall that last week, acting president Yemi Osinbajo launched the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme. Continue to see his argument after the cut...

This guy is a confused hypocrite. A clear case of the pot calling the kettle black. Granted, the current government is not living up to its responsibilities, however, was he not also a part of the Party in charge of previous administrations? The budgets of previous (PDP) years also contains the same levels of frivolities (kitchen utensils, Aso rock clinic, cars, office stationery etc). These things were budgeted and "purchased" every year. What did he say back then!

They are all the same. Politicians are selfish. There are PDP senators and Reps in the National Assembly, and they also contributed in passing the same budgets. He is invariably admonishing members of his party. Is he aware? Someone please tell him o!

Buhari is a curse to Nigeria. Immediately that evil man leaves power, everything will be normal. A wicked man that doesn't want to resign even in his death bed.

He was a mouth piece of a Government that has been shown to have been the greatest treasury looters in Nigerias history and still has the audacity to tweet such rubbish. I agree with him that Nigeria needs a reset so that people like this will live in ignominy and never be able to speak to the rest of us again. Tax is a chicken and egg situation and like Lagos has proven pay your taxes and elect good leaders and hold them accountable and you will get benefits of a good government

Good talk.

I used to think this Deji guy went to school o? Sorry Ass your Government of 16years looted this country dry and no account of taxes. The reason you pay your taxes is so that you have the authority to ask questions. Go and ask what Saraki's Tax payment is and tell me why he shouldn't be in Jail. Everything must not be argued politically, Paying Tax is a civic duty and tax evasion is illegal. I lived in UK and with all the tax deductions people are still complaining about what government have not done for them. Nigeria wont be different. We Should all Pay Our Taxes period.

Thank you for this candid opinion but most commenters are too sentimental to reason logically.

After asking questions, what happens when u get no answers? I don't see Nigerians doing much more than they have ever done as far as challenging their leaders goes. If there is no effective system of accountability on ground, the reality is that ppl will continue to be discouraged from paying tax. No need discussing 'ideals'. That is just the reality for the joke of a country Nigeria is.

The "tax the people to line corrupt pockets" is an AD party thing that Tinubu, Bisi Akande and their associates brought to the APC party.
I see Tinubu, Bisi Akande and other APC big wigs tax hunting strategies here.
Leave themselves (treasury looting billionaires alone) and squeeze the working class.
Split and pocket part of the taxes afterward as they do in lagos.

You follow Linda go polling booth wen u know who she vote For? Ode. Were you not here when she posted before the election that both parties wanted to use her blog to advertise and were offering her crazy sums but she didn't know which to choose. She eventually chose to run the PDP/GEJ ad. So then she turned around and voted Buhari in d elections? Sense fall on you IJN

Let the government address our pressing issues first of all before this tax madness. Can an unemployed person pay tax? They should provide good roads, electricity, water, education, empoyment for the citizens. The looters of our TREASURY should be brought to book. The masses shouldn't be overburdened by these corrupt politicians. We are tired of them all.
