"Their English wasn't even that good" - American rap group; Migos says about Nigerians

American rap group; Migos visited Lagos, in December 2016 for a Christmas concert, which held at the Federal Palace Hotel. The group is composed of three rappers known by their stage names Quavo, Takeoff and Offset.

During the concert, they got to perform ‘Bad & Boujee’ and the crowd went wild. Now, in a recent interview with Highly Questionable (HQ) on ESPN, while speaking on the most awe-inspiring place they've performed together, they agreed that it was Lagos, Nigeria, as the energy was crazy and the show was sold out. But according to one of them, Nigerians knew the lyrics of their songs word for word, even though their "English wasn't even that good". Watch the video after the cut....

Americans are the most ignorant idiots on the surface of the earth, man. They go somewhere with stereotypes in their mind and even if they live there for months, you would ordinarily you think thank reality would correct those stereotypes they initially carried in their minds, but na lie. The average American would still leave a place he had/has visited with the same silly stereotypes he/she initially went there with. I'm sure these Migos guys thought that we speak "African" in Nigeria so they never thought they would be able to relate to Nigerians through English.

In a multicultural, their world developing country like Nigeria, with questionable education systems, where people are still being taught that god created them through Adam and Eve, why wouldn't uneducated rappers, who didn't go to a school insult us.

Lol you are so right, and you know the funny thing is that the African American professors get so furious when they hear them speak that awful grammar. I remember an incident when an African American dude told a black professor quote " Ms.Brown, we was conversating with the panel" and the my proud Naija bro countered that it was a wrong grammar and tense. Dude was like common man what do you know? The professor was like, "it is so embarrassing to see you denigrate somebody that is trying to steer you in the right direction, and you do that because you think he's a foreigner? I was gloating over that whole show lol. Anyway, Americans in general are clueless about what goes on in the real world. Majority of them are clueless not all. If you noticed, the politicians and the fat cats take advantage of their ignorance to manipulate them.

Nooooooo, everybody shld calm down & think what the guys were saying.
They r not dissing Nieja.
They r saying that though there cld be language/accent issues u guys still know their songs and its lyrics. They mean Lagos is the best and they loved that.
Pls listen to their words 2x b/4 u start spouting nonsense.

Anonymous said...

This post is misleading. What u think is not what they mean.
Listen 2 their words again.

Anonymous said...

U guys chill. That's not the meaning of what they said.

Anonymous said...

But that's not the meaning of what they said.
It's like sayings that; even though u don't speak like us but u still know all the song lyrics and they are very pleased.
Remember, they first said they got the greatest reception in Lagos and said there was a lot of energy and they walked to the venue instead of drive because there were lots of people.
This post is very deceptive.

Anonymous 02:16, you are absolutely right, maybe I should have listened to what they had to say and not go by the headline. Also I am being a little sentimental about how some of them have this notion of Africans being mired in poverty, and live on trees, and don't understand English etc. However, in this context, they were impressed and that's what matters. They are not saying that Nigerians don't speak good English.
