Lanre Da Silva Ajayi and Daniel Amokachi debate their passions on Moments with Mo

The debate over the inclination of Nigerians to fashion or football took a new dimension on Saturday as Dolapo Oni, announced the two main actors in the drama will be guests on the famed talkshow, Moments with Mo today 6.30pm.

Popular fashion designer, Lanre da Silva and ex-Nigerian footballer, Daniel Amokachi have been locking horns in a dispute over the superiority of their individual passions.

The debate was started by Silva who claimed on a Channels Television interview recently that fashion was the next big thing and was superior to football. Replying her on Twitter and later on sports radio, Brilla FM, Amokachi countered her claims, with the former striker being quoted as saying, "It will take decades for fashion to meet football."

Both have argued separately on different platforms and they have both agreed to do a debate to throw more light on the issue.

The show will be aired live on Ebony TV Monday, 3rd of November by 6.30pm. It is anticipated that both professionals will be armed to the teeth with facts to prove the other wrong. The show will give the two professionals who are madly passionate about their respective crafts, an opportunity to go head-to-head on cable TV and prove why any is superior.

Meanwhile, Amokachi made an appearance to Lagos Fashion Week on Thursday, October 30, wearing a Tshirt with the inscription "GoFootball No Apologies". Lanre Da Silva Ajayi in response also made a statement at the Lagos Fashion Week yesterday where she showed her new collection of designs and her models wearing GoFashion Tshirt.

The conversation continues #GoFootball and #GoFashion.

I don't get there's no basis for such comparison, especially in a country like ours where football is our only source of believing in this country after a failed government.
Football or religion would make a better debate.

I love fashion its almost as old as football in history probably older but the thing is what we call fashion nowadays is focused only on a certain class of people! U hv to be able to afford it meanwhile football cuts across every class! Be it rich, middle class or poor, watch a national match where we win and see everyone hugging and celebrating! Fashion nowadays has turned into a thing of discrimination! If you aint on Prada them you aint shit! Personally im not a fan of BS so if d reason u love fashion is so that you can be among a certain class then boo hoo! Eat in fashion let me watch my football

Can't wait to watch them argue. Go football.

Amokachi is obviously right most nigerians have a greater passion for football than fashion

Unknown said...

I'm not a football person, but d truth is fashion is no where close to football, lia lia,not possible, until models, photographers and designers start earning as much as footballers then we can compare

Dem get power. These two profession shouldn't be compared as to which is more superior. Dey r both loved differently by different mindsets, dey create different impact, and are perceived differently. I love dem both as a designer n a football lover

Why is Amokachi disgracing himself and the rest of the football world by engaging in such debate. He was even annoying to have answered her in the first place. -Dodoz

All these people on twitter writing #GoFashion with the hope of lanre da silva retweeting them are pathetic! Let's forget the prada or LV or Gucci! How many Nigerians can afford mai atafo or LDA or Jewel by Lisa? Or is it the continuous repeat of designs we saw on the runway? Aside orange couture and Maki oh, sorry we do not have Nigerian designers and guess what boo? They are not based here! What we have are just privileged tailors with good client list! If govt invests in fashion, who are those who will benefit? The already rich exclusive fashion clique? How many people have benefitted from these fashion shows? To showcase on the runway is from 60k upwards and that's for Nigerian students fashion week! How many Nigerians can afford that? Music meets runway claim to empower but it 'empowered' April by kunbi whose parents could afford to send to FIT one of the world's most expensive fashion schools! Do u know how many poor people have been brought to wealth through football? Guess what boo? The real creative designers are on the street with no one to give them an opportunity to shine thru! LDA sorry, we have bigger problems in the country, we ain't about to enrich you and your greedy friends 'fashion designers' #GOFOOTBALL!!!!!!! Even puma, addidas and Nike will tell u it's #Gofootball!

One would think there are no more pertinent issues to be discussed and debated in Nigeria. FAIL!
