Photos: Nigerians in Germany protest against the Nigerian Govt

Nigerians in Germany yesterday March 10, protested against the Nigerian government financial recklessness and insecurity in the country. The protest took place on Neue Jakobstrasse, the street that lodges the Nigerian embassy.

The protest which started by 10am had the German police on ground all through the protest which lasted for four hours. Continue...

Fliers which served as cahier de doleance were distributed to passers-by and the embassy callers. The fliers read:
168 Million Nigerians are under siege. At the mercy of a reckless, fascist government that has made corruption its deadly official policy. The Nigerian people demand sanctions and travel bans on political officers and global attention to the economic terrorism. There are 100 million destitute Nigerians while government officials loot billions of US Dollars every year. We call for global attention to the crises to the largest African nation and a very important nation in Africa and the world. What affects one man, affects all men”.
The group of Nigerians also bore placards with messages like:
‘It is easier to find a needle in a dark room than to find 20 Billion Dollars in Nigeria’; ‘Boko Haram kills innocent citizens, Nigerian government celebrates centenary. Hundreds of Nigerians (Including school children) dead within a week’
At the end of the protest, two Embassy officials also gave the assurance that the message of the protest will be conveyed to the government.

The officials were also informed that plans are in top gear to mobilize for protest whenever the President and/or his wife are in Germany on their ritual medical trip.

This is good. My favourite is the "routine medical trip" part. They shall have no peace until they make positive changes in this country. All in favour say AYE!

I can smell the handiwork of APC here! But if all they could mobilize are only these three stranded looking people who i believe shld be on their way back to Nigeria on the next available flight, then i believe they shld give their mobilizer a query for a job badly done!

Ok so now that you've broadcasted that the German officials will take care of this when Jonathan and wife visit Germany, do you honestly think the president will visit Germany on his next trip? Sometimes there is such a thing as too much information, this should have been kept a secret.

Anonymous said...

Ask me o
If they are serious, let them all come to Nigeria and protest at Aso Rock, instead of washing their own dirty linens in public thereby, loosing respect in the sight of Germans.

Anonymous said...

Unity we stand divided we fall so let us stop criticism n let all d leaders both northerners put hands together and fight this invaders in our country . I believe this protest is the hand work of northern leaders. They re too desperate, they don't mind killing millions of people just to get to the top. stop fighting for the presidential seat and help the situation at hand. Our own protest should start here not inspiring nigerians in other better countries to do so. Ebele Goodluck Jonathan can not do it alone. help him and stop hypocrisy.

We Nigerians are very funny, nothing seems to please us.All of you asking they are protesting or asking them to come,or go to Abuja need to have ur heads examined, that is why the govt can Neva take us seriously becos our own na to sit down look.if u are not pleased with something,u have every right to speak up against it.

globaldeji said...

I feel there will be a revolution in Nigeria soon...there really should be one! its unfair the way those leaders are treating us! and most young people are aspiring to be like them!

Anonymous said...

Peaceful demonstration is how u enact change. When u demonstrate, you are sending a messafe. What did you think Martin Luthers peaceful demonstration yield? You think you will be able to visit the US without the Jim Crow segregation laws or you sitting at the back of the bus or your kids being able to school with a white kid who gets better education than the blacks? Peaceful demonstration is how your voice gets heard. Nigerians love to be oppressed, if you don't fight for your right, no one will and you will continue to be oppressed. Educate yourself!!!

It creates awareness about the real issues facing our country. It is important that the world understand that the things we are know for - fraud, corruption are not genetics but rooted in the deplorable economic conditions all Nigerians are born into. And it makes sense to make our leaders uncomfortable. I would be very pleased to hear that GEJ and his wife were refused treatment abroad based on the lacking state of Nigeria's hospitals.

Well, next time I never want to hear u complain about how oppressed you feel, how boko haram is killing, how your $10B is still missing. Just sit there in your cell that you call a home and continue to be oppressed. You better get on the street with your mates and start demanding. When you protest, soon other foreign govt starts to see there is chaos and starts to demand fair treatment on your behalf. Egypt did it, syria did it, USA did it. You sit there claiming it wont get you anywhere. How long did you think the US protested before they got to where they are at? Nigeria got its independence in 1960, and you're complaining nothing will change. The US has been demonstrating since the 1800's and they are still demonstrating. Get ur lazy ass off the couch, away from the keyboard and go ask ur govt for transparency in governance and where your $10B is at. All you know how to do is complain, complain, complain. Shut the fuck up and do something. Join Dino Maleye or whatever his name is, even if u dont agree with his personal life, his purpose is still for the general good.

Anonymous said...

Dumbest comment hands down. Black is what you see of all the complaints, the boko haram killing, the missing $10B. You my friend, you are a fool.

This is what gets me about Nigerians, when others are trying to take a stance, others are asking about what the point of the protest is? This is why this leaders will never change, as Nigerians will always argue in beer parlors and not where it matters.

Silly people! So u demonstrate in a country that isn't even in d same same continent as where d problem is...to what end? are the problems they are complaining about in Germany or the d Nigerian embassy in Germany. Why d abuse, every1 has his or her own opinion some ppl are more enlighten than d other, why some exposé n experience than d other' protest in Germany is cool, I like that, d country is organise 1000 Nigerians don't need 2 protest b4 u think is a protest' in western country 1 man can counter 10 men, it all depends on Ur fundermental human rights, as regard 2 Ur well being n d society! It's is in NIGERIA things are nt organise, we hv tolerated enuf, since 1960, till nw no evidence of independence, later we heard democracy, yet no proof! My teacher told me when I was in primary skool that me n my class mate are d leaders of 2mrw, when obj became d president in military regime I don't think I ws born, I came bake again n rule 4 8yrs n called it democracy! Plz my fellow Nigerians let's fight for our rights, we must fight untill we are giving our fundermental human right.

The useless protest n their sympathisers are bunch of tribalistic bigots. Hw many protests did u guys hold wen d lyks of ur tribal do-or-die Obj reigned in terror, killing, assassinating, kidnapping sitting governor, raising fuel pump price several tyms with reckless abandon, looting and converting d commonwealth to personal purse and heavily corrupting d legislative and judiciary arms of govt thereby taking corruption to an unprecedented level lyk neva b4 in d country?

Now that someone else who is nt from ur tribe is performing creditably well as president you guys are crying foul as if d highlighted problms of d country began with GEJ regime. Biased sets of ppl!

Anonymous said...

Anon 2:04PM, tribalism indeed runs in your blood and lineage.
Imagine someone like Obj who killed and wiped communities in Odi and Zaki-biam being seen as a hero by his tribesmen instead of being tried for atrocities against humanity. During Obasanjo's reign (1999 - 2007) media was censored, outspoken critics were targeted and judicial decisions were subjected to executive interpretations. Meanwhile, Obasanjo himself raised the mountain of corruption to an unimaginable level.
Where were you? Stupid manipulative liars...

Anonymous said...

You are blind, AnonymousMarch 11, 2014 at 11:21 PM,
You tribalistic fool.
Is Goodluck doing good like this?
Even if is OBJ that is president, I am sure people would talk for a change. How would you criticise people for wanting what is good? Haba!

JBayo said...

Protest in places like USA against govt will yield result than in Nigeria because nothing like 'help me pull him down' syndrome in this place like it is in Nigeria. If you are not in power, you will not want the person in power to succeed. If you are not successful, you work against the successful one to fall, using diabolical and witch crafty to carry out their work. Buhari said in 2011 if he does not win there will be no peace in Nigeria. Any election ACN did not win was consider rigged by them. God is not a fool. Just watching Nigerians and laughing.

“For followers, local and international of Nigeria’s democratic journey since 1999, there is unanimity of opinion that no administration has equalled the Jonathan administration in the observance of and respect for the hallowed principles of maintenance of rule of law, free press, sanctity of the electoral process, separation of powers and respect for public opinion. President Goodluck Jonathan’s opening up of the democratic space through institutional reforms clearly marks him out as a committed democrat.”
