*Linda shakes head* So do we commend him now or what?
These our leaders don't seem to understand the pains of the masses. FYI, anyone who can pay 137, can pay 141, get that right! It makes no difference, it doesn't make life easier. Cost of living has doubled...N4, will not reverse it. Someone told me today, I don't know what this subsidy means, all I know is that I don't want to buy a bag of pure water for N200, (it used to be N80) and I don't want to be spending N700 to go to work everyday, (she used to spend N300). How much do you earn, how much are you going to spend to survive? Please our leaders, have mercy on us, biko!

wat d difference bt 137 and 140
sorry this makes no difference
plz answer this question and get one free ticket to subsidy removal protest.
1. Is jonathan a name,place,animal,thing?
2. Is okonja a solution or problem to the algebria above?
You have said it all Linda. What is N4 difference? They (the government) must be crazy. Like you have rightfully said, anyone who can pay N137 can afford to pay N141. This government officials will lead Nigeria to a civil war soon. They are so removed from the reality on ground, its not even funny!
Some1 shld tell this guy to take a hike to hell. what is N4? i bet his kids are abroad studying, those in Naija will have escorts and wont have to pay transportation to work. mscheewwwww!!!Rubbish pple, God strong pass una. Ndi ara! N4 ko, N137 ni.
Is he serious? He's been funny. These leaders must think we are stupid and playing games with them. Ok, they can keep trying us and they will be the ones that will lose at the end of the day.
Is that only wht he can do for the people
Can I just say, that he has begun to take a step in d right direction... It's only N4, but try n steal N4 in the north, and see what they'll do to u... I see the protest not changing anything. I hate the amount we r paying, but these guys r thick skinned. They r not backing down... Nigeria will do what it normally does best....COPE... Pls no abuse me 4 expressing my humble opinion. At d end of the day, how many of us, who r reading LIB ready go fight for fuel subsidy? Na 4 LIB we dey declare our support. Me included :)
Imbecile!
lol linda AM NOT AGAINST THE FUEL SUBSIDY IF ONLY THEY CAN SHOW US WHERE THE MONEY THEY GOT FROM SUBSIDING KEROSINE AND DISIEL ARE OR WAT IT BIN USED FOR.
i want the whole 9JA PEEPS to know that if the jonathan government can not face the so called CABAL in the oil industry and we the masses are asked to pay for wat the cabal should be paying for.
WHEN IT COMES TO THE POWER SECTOR(NEPA) WHERE WE KNOW THAT WE STILL HAVE THE SO CALLED CABALS THEN WE WOULD HAVE TO PAY THRU OUR NOSE AGAIN BECAUSE HE CAN NOT FIGHT THE CABALS(CORRUPTION)
OUR DEAR AUNTY NGOZI U PROMISED WE WOULD GAIN FROM THE DEBT REFUND AND OUR UNCLE OBJ PAID THE DEBT BUT YET WE HAVE NOT SEEN ANYTHING.
ANYWAYS WE NEED TO PRAY HARD
THANK YOU
He shud fix our roads, therez is virtually no good road in ph. He worked hard 1st tenure , now he is buying a helicopter. Mscheeew!!
All our corrupt leaders shud answer, what happened to the proceeds made from the removal of diesel subsidy.
Nothing.
Govt wants us 2 suffer while they eat 1 billion worth of food. And steal the rest
he is so arrogantly flaunting the difference ---- the state will pay the difference in this country , from which revenue are they going to generate the difference ???, so if rivers state is ready to make up the difference then it means that the buffons in government can come down to 85 or 100 .hope tihs maths was not done with Mrs ekong doing the massage
there is absolutely no need for any1 to be ungrateful now, yes it doesn't make much of a difference but 4 naira is better than 0. Its a start!!!
another opportunity to loot abi? later he will tell us that trillions have been spent on oil subsidy in his state and his govt can no longer afford it bla bla bla.....please tell Mr. Amaechi that he is not being realistic moreso does he understand what is happening at all? anyway Mrs Okonjo Iwela said the governors asked for the removal of oil subsidy by the FG,so he wants to make himself look good in the eyes of the people while Mr.President is bad?
In case this fuel subsidy remains scrapped by the FG , i expect everyone to hold the governors of their states responsible and ensure that they expend the money wisely. Nigerians are fond of saying "He's our son, so let him be!" Let us start putting pressure of the state governors and LG chairmen.
To start with this Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is an anti-christ, i know he is in full support of the Subsidy removal and he cant wait, vicious idiot! na God go punish you.. i live in Port-Harcourt and i know what this fool that thinks he is smart is doing with Rivers State money, he has destroyed all the roads in that State in the name of working on them just so he will keep collecting money for construction, right now the State is owing Billions of Naira, he is busy buying and building industries in Ghana, the Uk and South Africa. wicked man and his Ogboni cult. like every vicious and heartless politician his down fall is at hand and he will be crushed. enough said LINDA MAKE SURE YOU POST MY COMMENT!!! i mean it..
They (government) just don't get it! Anyway how can they, they don't go to the filling stations to buy petrol as our CBN governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi pointed out, neither do they feel the pinch of poverty, so it is impossible for them to comprehend. We can barely afford N65 per liter how can we afford N141, N137 or whatever without a reciprocal increase in income, if we they want us to buy at those prices then our income should show a reciprocal increase minimum wages should then be set at N45000 ...abi??? fuel increase almost 150% = minimum wage 150% increase. equation balanced
Linda abeg i wan ask u something...If soldier boys overthrow the government, wetin go happen? I just dey ask bicos I no go skool. Make these people no put us for reverse again o!
You're on point! But I got to ask, Can a state government independently alter its own petrol price?
this man na goat fool mumu mumu
Hahahah superswag, this is the reason why I just love Nigerians.
Linda, u dont get it. & all of you making comments.
Have u all 4goten dat dis man wey Supreme Court help to install bcos of bad belle 4 OBJ is d Chairman of Governors Forum? Hav u heard of red herring b4? Na im d man dey try to do so dat d strike is divided & lose focus.
This is a significant social movement for Africa below the Sahara.
BTW, see our take on #OccupyNigeria here:
http://africasacountry.com/2012/01/09/occupy-nigeria/
This is indeed a shame.
These leaders think they're helping us in certain ways, when actually they keep on aggravating issues... So for hin mind now, him don put subsidy for dem??? E beta make hin comot am sef. Dem no need am. . .
The govt ought to have done some serious campaign on informing the public why and if subsidy is necessary before enforcing it. We all say cost of living will double but we have not really thought of the benefits if properly managed. Refineries will be built, roads constructed, infrastructures created and this translates to loads of jobs, I see jobs for chemical engineers, civil engineers, accountants, and so on. Should we continue to subsidise petrol and continue to eject millions from universities with no job possibilities or should we suffer somewhat now for a better future. Look at all of Europe in shambles, wht makes us think we might not get there at this rate.
I think the govt b given a chanc this time, maybe a year, see what comes out of the money saved from the subsidy. If nothing changes, then we can strike and bring the nation to it's knees.
I just don't understand why we strike over these issues but do nothing about the amount of money paid government officials or protest about things such as the bill for president's food and things like that.
@ Linda, you didn't get the full gist, he also put subsidy on transportation in Rivers state. transporters are charging N50, So Market people don't need to Increase their prices. At least he did something compared to the other Governors that are just Mute.
You guys need to understand that he is simply started his election campaign early.
Whether we like it or not, this wave of revolution will birth a new breed of people and politicians but will also give rise to a lot of the old breed politicians who will attempt to "pull a fast one" by running gimmicks like these in the hopes that they can use it on their election platform.
The fine art of walking the tight rope - Not speaking against the government and yet not speaking for the people. At least till the people have paid the price and its time to reap the rewards.
They say, once fooled . . .shame on them . . . but twice fooled nko???
Mark my words, some idiots will come and tell me how he is a wonderful government who feels the pains of the masses by discounting 4 naira at the pump to alleviate the suffering of the people of Rivers State.
Thunder fire all of them!!
my friend had the opportunity to live the country few years back.......he makes less than N17,000.....he is also married.....
now this is it.......If God does not help the people now what happens.......
You guys miss d ppoint of the N4 subsidy, by the time u willl hear how much he is paying, u will appreciate the Scam! This guys don't miss opportunities to line their mkt. He's advocating subsidy
You guys miss d ppoint of the N4 subsidy, by the time u willl hear how much he is paying, u will appreciate the Scam! This guys don't miss opportunities to line their pkt. He's advocating subsidy in Abuja n starrting his own and ui don't smell fish?Mostm
Is that only wht he can do 4 us.
This government is useless
Linda, It's an offer. If I were him, i won't subsidize it at all so I don't end up subsidizing fuel for the entire Nigeria. Little N4 could end up costing the state more than they bargain for.
Linda, watch yourself,i hate ur blog now,the way ur going about this subsidy,ur rate will go dawn as a blogger,u need not to be on any side, allow people to ear there views, removing subsidy is not a bad idea,if only our government will used the money to fulfill all there promises.
bad leadership.... what is he doing? Leave the subsidy for FG to handle ameachi finish the road you started in port hartcourt also rememeber other parts of rivers state ooo. Linda this man is correct looking for way to steal our moni ooo so when them ask him go say na fuel subsidy the money go what is 3 naira.
Linda dear, illiteracy is a big disease affecting the lives of all Nigerian politicians. This mumu thinks N4 will show he is on point. Ode no 1. Mr Rivers State governor, your state is at the heart of the oil exploration, so you should be selling free. I did advise you shut up and keep you rivers oil subsidy to yourself because it is obvious you want to use this avenue to steal more funds and reap more money for your selfish purposes. Use that N4, you want to save to make the rural communities better and help put food, clothing and shelter to millions of Nigerians in your region. They need it more than the N4, you want to foolishly save directly into your own pocket. Nonsense politicians. Money makes you all more stupid and vulnerable. Remember, you will get old someday and your children will bear the wrath. So, keep playing stupid business and making ridiculous and shameful plans.
Please, petroleum workers join the strike abeg. Dear Lord, punish severely all politicians that steal and make life unbearable for the masses while they eat N150,000 worth of food each day.
Linda, he said some other stuff about cost of transportation. Which if implemented wont be bad.
Linda, It is you that does not get it. When you were actively supporting the profligacy in government a few months ago when GEJ was meeting with various interests groups like the youths and doling out N45 000 to people for just attending, you failed to realise it was reckless spending or waste. You spoke so vigorously in support of it not even accepting that it was reckless spending/ waste even when someone indicated that the amount being paid to each participant for a few hours was more than what corpers earn in a whole month!!! You could not feel the corper's pain and now you are making noise. Abeg make me hear word jo!
Ameachi have always been a fool, in 2010, he refused to pay N50m as ransom on 5 Youth corp members kidnapped, saying they FG properties but the following week increase Millitant Rehabilitation Allocation to N500m from N100m, so am not surprised if he is coming up with this kinda foolish idea, DUNDERHEAD IDIOT!
Na wa for you Nigerians. Please stop throwing insults at him.
He was not the one that removed the subsidy in the first place. Do not generalise leader, mention names.
Is that only what he can do there no change it still the same thing because when was you have seen N137 you have seen N141.
He must be joking
they are all agent of badluck....has rotimi ever suffered b4 now..even as at that price will he ever pay for fuel...o ton do govnor
The problem wt ds guy(Rotimi Amaechi)ÈŠ̝̊̅§ dt he fels he kn̶̲̥̅̊o̲̣̥w̶̲̥̅̊ s į̸̸̨Æ al,He's so arrogant and bossy...A̶̲̥̅♏ nt surprisd at his act @ al...Rubbish
Hmmm...can smell a rat here. This is president Gej plot trying to use his boys to break the Nlc nationwide strike and turn it to a south west agitation. My advise is that these leaders should be careful not to lead us to civil war. This is not a lagos/sw struggle but a mass struggle that concerns all Nigerian. All we are saying is cut your expenses, reduce your cabinet at all levels of Govt.,tackle corruption in the oil sector,repair/build new refineries before you deregulate.

Morons we call leaders. He is an absolute illiterate. He doesn't understand what is going on I tell u.
Amaechi is a clown.
He thinks everything is politics.
See him feeling cool like he has done wat jona cannot do whereas they re of d same flock mschewwwwww
http://thewillnigeria.com/politics/11757-Government-Secret-Memo-Warned-Petrol-Import-Scams-NNPC-Scandal.html
please read. Otedola made some sense here
This dickhead that has refused to do his job. All he does is to destroy peoples houses and do nothing. The only good road in the state is the one that leads straight to his office
*ajalahtravel*
Nigerians, read between the lines! I don't want to post a big essay so let's theorize that he is playing Devil's advocate?
Is Ameachi going to somehow transfer the N4 difference back to the FG? And if he is will other states wisen up and offer even greater difference and pass on the cost back to the FG ? Will the FG then realize what is going on and subsequently hands off completely from providing fuel thereby allowing true market forces to dictate the real price of fuel? Which means you and I MAY (very big MAY)enjoy fuel of less than N65. All of this is possible if.....
D
Wooº°˚˚°Âºoow dis is gettng more interesting.i used to thnk GEJ is d only one dat is confused now i knw all of dem have embraced confusion.i mean like was he really expecting his pple to say thank u for d N4 slash.dats d dumbest favour anyone has ever done.right now,N65 is d only language i understand.Foolssssssssssssss
For every 1itre of fuel yu buy a 1 naira goes to d govt..... Dat is minus d oda money de earn in d importatn of crude to their own refineries outside Nigeria....
pls read this article from dolapo abimbola.http://www.facebook.com/#!/notes/dolapo-abimbola/a-personal-message-to-president-jonathan-on-fuel-subsidy-please-pass-it-on-till-/10150512185543670
it is an amazing piece,u wont regret reading it.....
Four naira isnt anything,so if am payin for 20litres he wil pay jst #80. WTH can dt do for me outside d filling station. Let him jst say he is trying to justify d bulk subsidy money dt jona has promised them governors.
Even though am in Port harcourt. I think he is a duche bag.
Four naira difference? What the F?
Actually any economist will tell you this removal of subsidy is good. Trillions of Naira every year is embezzled in the process of paying subsidy. but Nigerians do not know this. It was the same thing with Nitel. when it was nationalized, prices for phones was sky high,A governor actually said "phone is not for poor people". At first when the govt let go, phone costs were very high, gsm was N45,500. but private marketers entered now you can get it for as low as N5000. it is time for the govt to let go of our oil. let us finally build refineries and hire our youths. in the long run, we will stop importing oil (so it will be even cheaper than ever), we will be refining (so there will be jobs) and we will all jolly! My only problem with this removal is that they didn't properly explain to Nigerians what was going on. In Saudi A when the did theirs, not only did they explain, the took half of the money(about billions) they were using to subsidize and distributed it to their people to help tide the flow.
Kini efa ninu eje?
This our govt sef, why do they always like to play with us like toys? What will a 4naira difference bring? will it bring down the price of pure water or transport? These rogues will just sit in cozy conference rooms and come up with stupid decisions, I wonder if sometimes these things don't sound stupid to them. Amechi just added salt to the injury of Nigerians and he will pay sooner or later. Fuck him!
In fact, this is patronising. What's the difference? Will he also subsidise their market bills, educational and hospital bills? I think these leaders live in another planet definitely not in the same planet as the average nigerian.
Oh lord we need ur help 4 understanding, teaching etc.
he is really silly if he can onlyreduce it by 4 naira
It is God, that will give us guidenance
This is wonderful. Foolishly foolish.
Opinions, no matter how split or precise will not make the issues at hand go away.
Action and the ability to stand, and stand firm, immovable, not cowering to police irresponsibilities and stupidities, not buying the Government stories and threats, not giving in to fear may resolve this issue.
I fear our pain and hurt may not go past the pages of blogs, tweets, BBM and WhatsApp. I hope we have all it takes to fight till the end cos its just might be the only chance we have to fight for what we believe in. It may be now or never.
Personally, I welcome the subsidy as long as ALL other subsidies stops as well. And by 'other subsidies', I mean ALL the allowances Federal, State and ALL elected officials enjoy.
God bless Nigeria
is he looking for sympathy vote or what he really is clueless and does he not know that there is no difference between 137 and 141? if he had said from 141 to 65 naira now then we could have said well done governor in the main time let him shut up and close that his yeye mouth
Stupidity for publicity
Very soon..people like this would be running for their lives..still sitting pretty like Ghadafi was!!
Keep saying Pump increases ain't deregulation or oil sbsidy removal!!
this is just bullshit!
I hate our leaders! Very shameful set of human beings
Na wa for the comments oh. Why can't Nigerians express their opinions without being full of insults? hahahahahaha... poor gov Rotimi thought he was getting on peoples good sides with state fuel subsidy, but I guess not! hehehe
People want more- perhaps better public transport, better roads, 100% electricity, etc. The strike is not just about fuel.
I was arguing this with someone, and he was kind of saying half bread is better than none. I was really pissed because N4 difference doesn't mean anything at all. Am glad a lot of people here share the same views with me. He shouldn't even border wasting the states money if that is all he can do.
Hmmm truth is bitter but it's d TRUTH!
JONA, JONA, JONA what are you doing in the midst of sanusi lamido, iweala and Allison madueke......Ere ki ni Aja n ba ekun se.....(what game would bring a dog and a tiger together) what good advice would you get from these spoilt brats).....Sanusi....a grandson of the emir and son of a permanent secretary.....a noble blood with a university degree in sharia from SUDAN.....he was never as hungry as you were...You are even an infidel where he is concerned .....Your association can only mean trouble.......and then iweala........the daughter of a professor and king in ogwashi ukwu and.....An IMF returnee.......everybody in her family went to harvard.......she had ice cream for breakfast while you were walking barefoot looking for fish in the sun of ogbia.....common!what are you doing with her.............And then diezani madueke ......the daughter of chief Agama and wife of Admiral madueke......what are you doing around these people........please listen to people who are just like your father.....fisher men, boat maker, mechanic, tailor, okada man barber, pepper seller etc who would suffer greatly from your stubbornness. Listen to people like you who had no shoes.....like Femi Falana,Chinua Achebe and me!!!
Btwn dis governor fine!
all we ask is 65 and not 137
Whatever!!! Nice Patek Phillipe watch, motherfucker!
We seem to be ignorant about a lot of issues. We seem to think one way, and that is why we will continue to slide along a negative path in this country. We are the architects of our own hardship. Let me explain this scenario, 30 litres would cost 1,950 naira @ 65. This amount would take a commercial bus from ibadan to lagos. For a 14-seater bus, at say 1,000 naira per passenger, he would have a gross profit of 14,000 naira. take out his cost of fuel and sundries, he would pocket say 10,000 per trip. now cost of fuel @ 141 naira would cost him 30liters * 141 = 4,230 naira. now this same nigerian has increased his transport fare to 2,100 naira per passenger. he now gets a gross profit of 29,400 naira. I do not believe his expenses would run into 19,400. see that an increment of fuel to 141 does not necessarily translate to what we have now?
THINK.
for me,it's not a question of N4 or not.the fed govt says fuel subsidy is ''bad'' for the economy.den d chairman of d governors forum introduces N4 subsidy for his locale.it smacks of inconsistency in principle n is ur picture perfect example of double standards.im looking for an insult dat is vile enuf for dis lot.cant find any. *sad face*
Lmao @ fearless
I odficially love you
ah he has tried only one state he tried just give him that in the lon run its quite large
