Uganda proposes death sentence for homosexuals

The leadership of the country of Uganda, has proposed the death penalty for "aggravated homosexuality."

Life imprisonment is the minimum punishment for anyone convicted of having gay sex, under an anti-homosexuality bill currently before Uganda's parliament. If the accused person is HIV positive or a serial offender, or a "person of authority" over the other partner, or if the "victim" is under 18, a conviction will result in the death penalty.

Members of the public are obliged to report any homosexual activity to police with 24 hours or risk up to three years in jail – a scenario that human rights campaigners say will result in a witchhunt. Ugandans breaking the new law abroad will be subject to extradition requests.

"The bill is haunting us," said Mugisha, 25, chairman of Sexual Minorities Uganda, a coalition of local lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex groups that will all be banned under the law. "If this passes we will have to leave the country."

President Yoweri Museveni appeared to add his backing earlier this month, warning youths in Kampala that he had heard that "European homosexuals are recruiting in Africa", and saying gay relationships were against God's will.
"We used to say Mr and Mrs, but now it is Mr and Mr. What is that now?" he said. In a interview with the Guardian, James Nsaba Buturo, the minister of state for ethics and integrity, said the government was determined to pass the legislation, ideally before the end of 2009, even if meant withdrawing from international treaties and conventions such as the UN's Universal Declaration on Human Rights, and foregoing donor funding.

"We are talking about anal sex. Not even animals do that," Butoro said, adding that he was personally caring for six "former homosexuals" who had been traumatised by the experience. "We believe there are limits to human rights."

President Yoweri Museveni is wrong; Animals do gay sex. The good people of Uganda would suffer if he decides to violate the rights of the minority based on their sexual orientation.
Yes, we used to say "Mr. and Mrs" and now we could Mr. and Mr., or Mrs. and Mrs. So what?

I'm not anti-gay and all that stuff, but I cannot *fully* accept that d anus is meant for anything else other than shitting lol (pardon my lang.), we can say all we want, i have gay friends and I dnt stick my self in their personal business, neither do I try 2 change or "counsel" them, but call a spade a spade...ain't nothing *natural* about humans having sex with someone of d same gender.

Like that's going to change anything...it's been happening since ancient times...oh well...

This is what i find about this subject, While the Bible does address homosexuality, it does not explicitly mention gay marriage/same-sex marriage. It is clear, however, that the Bible condemns homosexuality as an immoral and unnatural sin. Leviticus 18:22 identifies homosexual sex as an abomination, a detestable sin. Romans 1:26-27 declares homosexual desires and actions to be shameful, unnatural, lustful, and indecent. First Corinthians 6:9 states that homosexuals are unrighteous and will not inherit the kingdom of God. Since both homosexual desires and actions are condemned in the Bible, it is clear that homosexuals “marrying” is not God’s will, and would be, in fact, sinful.

History argues against gay marriage. Modern secular psychology recognizes that men and women are psychologically and emotionally designed to complement one another. In regard to the family, psychologists contend that a union between a man and woman in which both spouses serve as good gender role models is the best environment in which to raise well-adjusted children. Psychology argues against gay marriage. In nature/physicality, clearly, men and women were designed to “fit” together sexually. With the “natural” purpose of sexual intercourse being procreation, clearly only a sexual relationship between a man and a woman can fulfill this purpose. Nature argues against gay marriage.

In the spirit of fundamental human rights, I am totally against this proposal and I do hope it does not see the light of day.

If we are trying to be religious about this, I will say let God judge.

I think it's ok for some countries to condemn immorality, especially something like homosexuality. Not every country has to welcome it. AIDS, is already killing Africans, why add to it? refering to gay men sex. Let them leave the country, nobody cares. Uganda has been doing good to keep the AIDS down, so they should do whatever it takes.

its is so funny when people start quoting bible...did everyone tell you they follow the rules of the bible...

@ Anonymous 8:16AM...i share your views...i believe everybody should be free to do what they want so far it is not harming the next person..What two consenting adults decide to do is not the governments business at all
