'My parents parted ways after they discovered they are brother and sister' - Harrysong

Harrison Tari Okri, popularly known as Harrysong is a fast rising R&B singer signed to Question Mark Records. In an interview with Yes! Magazine, he revealed how his parent gave birth to him not knowing they were actually blood relations. His words below:

I am an only child. I learnt that when my mother was alive, she met my father, then she was still in school and they were in the same class and in the same village. But they didn't know they were closely related. After my mum gave birth to me, she and my dad discovered they were actually brother and sister and subsequently separated. So, I was born based on what our villagers regard as abomination. They attempted to kill my father in the village, but he fled. Because in Warri where I come from, it's a taboo. They termed it incest. They both eventually married other people.

And feeding the dog costs far more than any human can eat. He is fed an organic diet of tripe, boiled fish heads, powdered egg shells, code liver oil and raw bones. Marco Polo described the Tibetan Mastiffs in the 13th century as “tall as a donkey with a voice as powerful as that of a lion.”

Nigerian movie marketers planning to stop Africa Magic from showing Nollywood movies

At a press conference this afternoon at O'Jez bar and restaurant at the national stadium in surulere, Nigerian movie marketers said they are planning to stop DSTV channel - Africa Magic, from showing Nollywood films. They said they decided to take this action and plan to formally write to DSTV in the coming days, because of the drastic decrease in sales of Nollywood movies in the last few years.

It seems Nollywood movie lovers have stopped buying movies and now wait to watch it for free on Africa Magic. And y'all think it's Africa Magic's fault and not the quality of your movies? #justasking

University of Abuja students block Abuja roads in protest

The students of University of Abuja this afternoon protested against the suspension of four courses run by the institution by halting traffic flow on the Umaru Musa Yar'adua expressway in Abuja.

The Federal Government had on Tuesday suspended some courses in the university. These courses include Medicine, Veterinary medicine, Engineering and Agriculture.

The departments offering these courses have failed to get accredited by the National Universities Commission and many students have therefore been unable to graduate from them for years.

Identity of the Nigerian lawyer shot dead in American nursing school revealed

 

I'm sure you all heard about the shooting that took place on Monday April 2nd at a private Christan college in California. A 43 year old Korean man, One L. Goh entered a reception area of the college at mid-morning and opened fire, killing seven people and wounding three others.

One of those he killed is a Nigerian. She is 42 year old, wife, lawyer and mother of three, Doris Chiduko (pictured above). The Enugu State born woman relocated to the US ten years ago and was unfortunately at the Christain college when the shooting occurred. May she RIP!

Acting IG of Police orders patrol of all federal highways

Acting Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar, on Monday directed the police to start the patrol of all federal highways across the country with immediate effect.

The reported raping of 42 female pupils of an Enugu-based school by a 12-man robbery gang along the Ore-Shagamu Expressway, Ogun State on Saturday night and other cases have forced many Nigerians to demand immediate deployment of police patrols in highways.

The IG, who met with senior officers in Abuja on Tuesday to review the security situation in the country, said the patrols would be complemented by a Rapid Response Structure. - (Punch)

Luxury bus attack: Police arrests driver, robbery and rape suspect

The Ogun State Police Command, yesterday, said it had arrested four suspected members of the robbery gang that attacked Ekene Dili Chukwu luxury bus which was conveying 42 female secondary school students to Lagos, last Saturday, at the Oke-Odo end of Sagamu-Benin Expressway in Ijebu-East Local Government Area of the state.

The arrest was made just as indication emerged yesterday, that the attack and reported rape on the teenage students could have been averted had the driver of the bus listened to warnings by motorists that robbers were operating ahead. Consequently, the 52-year-old luxury bus driver, (names withheld) has been arrested and detained by operatives of the State Criminal Investigation Department, Elewe-Eran, Abeokuta.

A Federal High Court in Lagos yesterday discharged the former Executive Vice Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Intercontinental Bank Plc, Dr. Erastus Akingbola, of the 26-count charge of  money laundering brought against him by the EFCC. 

The presiding judge said he discharged the case because of the 'incompetence of the prosecution team'

EFCC plans to file fresh charges against the former bank chief.

Ethiopian maid publicly abused in Lebanon takes her own life (video)

 

An Ethiopian domestic worker who was filmed as she was attacked in public outside the Ethiopian embassy in Beirut has taken her own life. The video, aired by Lebanese television, has caused outrage in the country, where reports of mistreatment of domestic workers are common. The woman's employer, who was seen trying to bundle her into a car, has denied beating her. Watch the video of her public assault HERE

Private investigator claims OJ didn't kill his wife Nicole, his son did

A new book written by Texas private investigator and author, William C. Dear, claims OJ Simpson did not kill his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1994. According to him, his son, Jason Simpson, who was 24 at the time of the murder, did it!

Dear says he knew right away that the victims knew the person who killed them based on where their bodies were discovered outside of Brown's Brentwood home. He says Jason Simpson -- whom he claims has a "Jekyll and Hyde" type personality -- should have been a suspect from the beginning.

Jason had intermittent rage disorder. He was on probation [at the time of the murder] and had recently assaulted his former employer with a knife," Dear says. "But he was never interviewed by police."

President Goodluck Jonathan is being heavily criticized for accepting a multi-million naira church building donated to him by an Italian construction.

The company named Gitto Construzioni Generali donated the 2,500 seat capacity church building to President Jonathan's home community in Otueke, Bayelsa State.

Question now is: was he right or wrong to accept the donation?

D'banj and Don Jazzy abandon Lekki home they used to share

They used to share a house (the one on the left) located at Osaron Isokpan in Lekki Phase 1. But the five bedroom duplex has since been abandoned. Don Jazzy has moved to another house (the one on the right) located at NICON estate, Lekki, while D'Banj has temporarily relocated to Los Angeles, after moving some of his belongings from the house. Their former home is now empty with only maiguards looking after the place.
