Photo: Police parade suspected car battery thieves in Calabar

The Cross River State Police Command have recovered more than 12 car batteries from the apartment of some suspected criminals in Calabar. The suspects were paraded alongside the stolen batteries and the tools they used in carrying out their criminal acts.

According to Calabar Reporters, car batteries which was sold between N28, 000 to N30,000 are being stolen and sold by these criminals for as low as N5,000 to N10,000 just to get money to smoke and drink.
"They are hunting for Car batteries in Calabar like gold. Some even go ahead to steal in a broad day light, a situation where many have been burnt to death by mob, including a 9, 10 and a 12-year-old boy at Mayne Avenue. To this teenagers, a N1000 note is so as big as a million. For these reasons, car owners in Calabar now uses padlock for their batteries due to theft"
