I luv it.The way they were packed like serdines make it easier for them to exchange punches. But they never did. That's maturity.
Unlike the ones of nowadays

Those days when they was no prejudice, no hatred, patience and tolerance. The days everyone worked together to move the country forward irrespective of tribe, religion, ethnicity and colour. Can we ever live like that at this present time?

this is just so wrong.....with my mind state now, i wish i was born then. i would have become a rebel with a course against the colonialists and my name will be written in the sands of time. see how the colonial coat of arms is placed up there in the wall and why not Nigeria's coat of arms, which offcourse, Nigerias' coat of arms was drawn by the likes of it. the concept of Colonialism has driven us away from our culture, beliefs and deity and forever we stand controlled by them with so many disguises of help in forms of finances(borrowing), military intervention(like what they did to iraq). #okbye

That time, the world was not so close to cming to an end. Everyone was behaving themselves. This current queen Lizzy shouldnt just try it. They will fight even in her presence. Thats all we see these days. Old men fighting up and down.

Before independence d west and d east did not want regionalization as practised by d british (rightfully so) bcos dis wld give d northerners more seats in parliament (as they were d majority) thereby they make all d decisions.

The british didnt listen and made regionalization a condition for independence. Awolowo and Zik agreed to it, for independence sake - hoping they wld revert to states later. By the time elections came Zik joined forces wt the north for an alliance of parties against the west. And Azikiwe became president & Balewa prime minister. Then awolowo was imprisoned (cos he hated & riled d northerners wt his riots - this was after he lost d election to NPN's Akintola who loved d north & hated igbos - said they were too arrogant).

When d igbos went on their killing spree in 1966, they said their plan was to make awolowo president cos of d corruption, but obviously we all know what happened. Azikiwe was not killed in their coup and Ironsi became president (typical igbos and their fraud). Im sure Awolowo saw their xter.

After d coups of 1966, d country was in dissarray. It wasnt just the hausas dt hated igbos, even d tivs. The humiliation of killing d sardauna & mocking his death was what led to d progrom. D genocide was from makurdi to kaduna. They wanted igbos out of their lands, they never took d war to them. Until ojukwu decided to secceed.

Him and Awolowo were NEVER allies (as claimed by wishful thinkin igbos who see bullying yorubas into secession as their only succesful way of attaining secession - lol yorubas might be generally respectful but are smarter dn dt). Awo was an imprisoned politician, Ojukwu was in Ironsis military govt. Awolowo always wanted federalism, not regionalization nor secession. And wrote a book abt socialist federalism while he was in prison.

After d 2nd coup, Gowon knew d only soln to d problems he inherited was federalism and all d tribes having a voice in parliament. He scrapped regionalization & created 12 states. Everything Awo ever wanted. Gowon released Awo from prison and made him minister of finance.
Ojukwu was not satisfied this federalism, he declared secession cos he was gingered by d new oil deposits. D nigerians then set up blockades along d midwest against d igbo states. Dis was encouraged by shell petroleum - to protect their investments & exports from rivers state & d delta.

The aburi accord was called for dialogue btw nigeria and ojukwu. In d meeting d govt decided on true federalism, ojukwu upped d stakes by calling for a confederation (bcos of oil, he wanted to go bk to a form of regionalism - which wasnt even what Azikiwe ever wanted). The war started after dt accord meeting. The yorubas were very much prepared to put their legs up and be spectators. This was a fight btw d north and d east.

This was until d biafrans marched into ore (ondo state). Dt was when they were aggressively stopped by col benjamin adekunle (black scorpion), he basically dismantled d biafran army in d midwest till they surrendered. Till today theres a saying in yorubaland "oleku ija ore".

That was what happened in the 1st decade of the formation of Nigeria. Those calling for regionalism dont know d evil & tribalism it builds. The only way this country can coexist is true federalism with at least 50% resource control by d states. And a rotational presidency by d 6 geopolitical zones wt d presidential candidates coming from federal parties, not regional nor tribal parties.

The nigerian civil war btw d north and d east was a fight for oil resources dt belonged to neither tribes. They wanted d upper hand cos they detested each other. Simples.

@least then things were far better than it is now. How I wish they had developed Nigeria b4 granting Nigerians indepedence. Hiss!

That was when there was no freedom to criticise the govt...they spent money worth another country's annual budget on queen's visit... truth is, Nigerians should thank Jonathan for making the presidency open to criticism...because of him, all these cool looking sections of the government has been opened for general criticism..
