Blessing Okagbare wins Gold in Women's 100m final in Glasgow

Sprinter Blessing Okagbare just won Gold in the Women's 100m for Nigeria in the Commonwealth Games. She won in a time of 10.85 seconds in a new Games record, making her the second fastest woman of all time in World 100 metres. She beat Jamaica’s Veronica Campbell-Brown, Kerron Stewart and England’s Asha Phillip who came second, third and fourth respectively.

Blessing becomes the first Nigerian winner of this title since Mary Onyali back in 1994. You go Blessing!

Sentimental Nigerians. Always looking for joy in every little news, whether relevant or not.
Sports is not politics. And Medals will not replace Lives. Enjoy Blessing victory today, but let's keep the wars separate. Our leaders will not be cowardly allowed to hide behind this singular mirror of success.

Wait oo, here is a comment which might be deemed tribalistic. Why is it that all the best footballers and athletes are either ibo or Delta neighbouring countries? Where are the Yorubas and Hausas?????

Congrats Blessing Okagabre. One of the best athlete from Nigeria and Africa. She should serve as a role model to young girls out there.

Congrats Blessing Okagbare. You are truly a blessing to this country and your family. Please Linda go and tell those who are quick to make our Nigerian gals who go naked ambassadors that the likes of Blessing Okagbare are the type of ambassadors we should use.
