Native & Vogue PH International Fashion Week 2014 - Creating A Fresh Runway

Native and Vogue Port Harcourt international Fashion Week is the most creative and innovative fashion event in West Africa. It is an assembly of top designers and models across Africa, to celebrate the totality of African Fashion. 

Designed as a dual platform to groom emerging designers and showcase established designers, Native and Vogue is positioned to drive and grow the local fashion industry into sustainable globally competitive brands. Continue...


On a wider perspective, Native and Vogue equally serve as a medium to further develop and influence tourism as more African designers now infuse African inspired themes and fabrics into their designs. This has expanded the fashion industry tremendously; making it a highly exportable sector.

From the 19th – 21st of September 2014,Port Harcourt will host distinguished guest from the local and international fashion scene in a three day affair of incredible spectacle and an awesome display of the vibrant Nigerian and African fashion style.

We believe everyone is endowed with a creative wealth of limitless possibilities, hence the theme for Native and Vogue season 2 - “Possibilities live here’’ We know that you have the innate ability to be what you dare to dream, hence two platforms have been created to foster emerging designers and models namely:

·         The “Young Designers Competition”

·         “Face of Native & Vogue” 

The “Face of Native and vogue” and the “Young Designers Competition” act as a definitive forum to encourage, inspire and strengthen emerging designers through mentorship initiatives scholarships and cash prices. Each year, aspiring models and designers send in their entries for the competitions. Entries are judged based uniqueness in style, originality and creativity.

The Young Designers Competition:

This year, at the young designer’s competition, we challenge upcoming designers to dare to design! The terrain will be tougher; creativity will be let loose and original and truly unique designs will be inspired- all things are possible!

To Participate:

o   You must be a designer between ages 18 and 30
o   You must be from River State or reside in Rivers State
If you meet the requirements above, then forward the details below todesigners@nativeandvogue.com
1.       Five (5) different pictures showcasing your work
2.       Your profile
3.       Your name and photograph
Prizes to be won include –
A.      Scholarship to an international fashion school
B.      One year mentorship with a renowned fashion designers
C.       Automatic FADAN membership
D.      Fashion designs in notable fashion magazines

The Face of Native and Vogue:
As an emerging model, Face of Native and Vogue provide you a rare opportunity to walk the ramp alongside international and renowned models. As the Face of Native and Vogue you have the opportunity to model designs of frontline designers and be the face on all our communication materials for the fashion week!

To Participate:

o   You must be an upcoming model between ages 15 and 25
o   You must be an indigene Rivers State
o   Minimum height requirement:
  Male: 5’11
Female: 5’9

This is all nonsense, the lady who won the best designer last year has not even been given her N3million prize scholarship to South Africa or kobo as cash prize. I hope the rivers state government is not part of all this wash wash crazy shows by so misleading the youths of the state, and you wonder why there is so much violence in the niger delta region, when na your own people they wound you. Governor Amechi has good intensions for the state but not his so called cabinet ......Linda post dis ooooo
