What do you guys think of Prof Osinbajo as APC VP candidate?

Never heard of him until today...and I've been racking my head since I heard he was the one picked to be Buhari's running mate. Why him though? I keep wondering why not Fashola?

Nigerians should stop beating about the bush and face reality. When Shagari was president he picked an accomplished architect Alex Ekwueme as his VP. To date I can't think of one notable thing credited to the office of the VP in that administration. All through to when GEJ was VP the occupant of that office is treated almost like any other common citizen. The same can be said today of VP Sambo. The president calls the shots. The VP is just a door mat. I pity all these pastors running after Buhari. When Pastor Bakare tried it I knew it was a big mistake. Dining with the devil can never produce a favourable outcome. Buhari said there will be blood if he lost the last election. He has been true to his word. How many innocent pastors, Christians and their churches have been destroyed since he lost the last election. He is a wicked tyrant who has not changed one bit since the days of Idiagbon when they callously started executing people at random. Buhari has blood on his hands. What more do Christians want to see in this man? SHINE YOUR EYES!!!

his a good choice

APC should 4get it , Though he is a pastor , hence i wouldn't like to use abusive words Though The Prof wouldn't last on that seat if they by any chance win , but that is impossible . GOOLUCK is what wise Nigerians should go for

All na politics joor. Fashola is a muslim and so is Buhari, you can have two muslims running the affairs of the country. #bokothings

@freeborn zina, u should have ur head examined. why would u call Linda's question stupid and still answer it. that makes u even more stupid. she wants to know wat people think about the choice, because u like the choosen person doesn't mean everyone should like him. for me I think Fashola should have been choosen. but it's their p if they have choosen Osi..., I see Tinibu written all over this choice.

Why cant we be less myopic and shallow minded in this country for once and really face our future with determination for change? is it about the size of the man now? what has size got to do with governing ability? And as per his experience, all the people you have been having with experience for decades, where have they piloted the country to? their pockets. Or is it that nigerians naturally like suffering in the hands of same circulating old corrupt people that you have been experiencing all these apart from Buhari that didnt loot? A 'word' is enough for the wise.

Linda really! you never of him? to think he was the Attorney General of Lagos under Tinubu's administration.

Anyway, my thought. I know him personally because he was my Evidence lecturer in Unilag. That man is one upright man I know. Am yet to see anyone speak evil of him. Despite his achievments, he is extremely down to earth and humble. His got listening ears, this I can testify to because he has had to hear me out under the blazing out one of those days back in school.

I look forward to hearing him canvass for votes and then am scared for my party [PDP] because with such a man of esteem repute, the whole Redeem camp is sure to vote for APC. He sure will not let Buhari take us for granted if they are eventually elected.

I like Fashola but you cannot compare Fashola in anyway to Prof. Pastor Yemi Osibajo.

Anonymous said...

Linda, please go do a research on this man and let people know his competencies, qualifications and background to enable them use their votes wisely. Your role as a blogger should go beyond gossips...and posing mediocre questions! Don't ask people what they think about someone they know nothing about! be a voice for a change!

Prof Osinbanjo is a nice man, very humble and loyal though not a thoroughbred politician. Tinubu that he is representing is an achiever but a rogue. My CEO said that it is better that someone makes N5b for him and steal N2b than make N5m and steal nothing. All said my prayer is that APC will not win so that Buhari will go and rest like Atiku

Mol said...

Personally, I believe this is a smart move from APC. Prof Osibajo has an impeccable record and he is a highly respected man as a Pastor and a technocrat. In Nigeria we like big names that get us nowhere. Fashola would have been a great choice but he is a muslim. However who knew Fashola before 2011. It was because he was given an opportunity to lead that we have now realized his value. It is time for us to vote for change! GEJ has spent six years in aso rock and Nigeria's economy has nosedived.

I hate APC as each day passes. APC una cunny dey too much abeg. Pastor so that we can vote abi? u think we are fools right? like we dont know that VPs do not have a say in Presidency. U people will fail, fall yakata for ground. Boko Haram Party. God knows what u have done to innocent people so we he wont allow u guys to win.

Well Linda, I think you should do a background check for yourself and not feed on biased thoughts. He is a man of God, a seasoned lawyer, an achiever, a frequent speaker at Poju Oyemade's The platform. He has served the Federal Government, State Government and the UN at different times. He is as good as Fashola if not better than him. I think he is a good pick. Forget the fact that he is a christian. He has been in politics ever since my days in Unilag or maybe before then. I knew APC wld pick a christian as VP because some people have at some point mentioned a Muslim-Muslim Ticket as an issue. But besides the fact that He is a Christian, He his a good pick. People shouldnt be quick to attribute it to RCCg influence or not, lets give him some credit, most of the reforms you see today in Lagos started as an idea from him especially with regards to law. I will not hesitate to endorse a credible seasoned achiever. for what its worth i think in my opinion he is the best candidate they could have ever picked. He appears new to the scene but has always been in the background working for AD then ACN and now APC. Let me not also forgetto mention that Tinubu might not be liked but He has surrounded himself with some technocrats that are not corrupt and her good. He is one of them. Fashola was one. Recall, when Fashola was hand picked by Tinubu, every one cried who is he but if you follow politics well and you know the terrain in Lagos politics you will see reason why a Fashola was a better successor of Tinubu. Pastor professor Yemi Osinbajo is a credible and good candidate for APC. I love the way the political scenery in NIgerai is moving it is getting to the era of politics of ideology not hooliganism. God bless Nigeria, God bless Linda Ikeji, God Bless us all.

Seems a classy dude unlike that waste of space Namadi Sambo. Buhari don old. If e quench for office we need someone sensible to step into the breach. who knows you might just see President Osibajo at some point in the future

Anonymous said...

This has always been their plan to pick a Christian from the west as running mate with little or no say. what does this man know about politics and I don't think he can defend the Christian body if things go south. Be ware. Buhari a cameleon never change its spots. buhari should allow the younger ones to occupy power. have you guys stopped to punder why this man has been going for the seat ever since. This old man cant move us forward.

Prof. Yomi Osibajo has a very impressive service background though largely unknown like Fashola was before he came into govt. Like Fashola, he is a S.A.N a law professor for that matter. He was Lagos state attorney general and minister of justice from 1999 - 2007. He was a member of the United nations Secretary General's committee of Experts on Conducts and Disciplines of UN Peace keeping personnels around the world.

Please vote. How relevant is the position of the VP? Wat impact has sambo had since he has been in office. We need fashola in more important position please.

Prof yemi osibajo was the former attorney general of Lagos state ,a senior advocate and one of the brightest legal minds Nigeria has ever produced. U just need to hear him speak. U would be amazed by his exceptional brilliance and charisma. To top it up,he is upright, forthright and a true man of God

Exactly I cannot imagine fashola in that dormant VP position, he is man that can take on greater challenges. There are bigger shoes he can fill. Enough of this irrelevant VP talk .

Anonymous said...

I am sure there are more important roles fashola can play in this country of ours that the role of the VP which is suddenly being over rated.

Anonymous said...

Linda is ignorant . Can she even name two world VPs ?? Please we need fashola to play more important roles int his country . He is a decision maker and a doer.

Anonymous said...

Plus fashola can be useful in a more challenging office other than that of the VP

Anonymous said...

God bless bles bless you. You are definitely a forward thinker. I wish more people could use thier brains for once instead of jumping on the band wagon .

Anonymous said...

Linda should learn to think before she post especially when it comes to sensitive matters concerning politics, a lot of people don't have a mind of their own and would suprisily vote according to what the see on social media. While your busy crying fashola , have you ever thought how much impact he can actually have if he is the VP? How much do VPs really get involved in decision making ? I beleive and know that a man like fashola should not spend the next 8 years doing the presidents biding when he can actually make a real difference in this country .

Anonymous said...

i think Buhari feels Christians will vote for him if he makes that choice

Anonymous said...

His credentials are great, but in politics of this magnitude, you need someone with political structure/machinery, relevance plus popularity to help you gather the votes. Credentials alone don't fly much with the voting masses. He could have chosen 'Aboki' Rochas Okorocha.
I wish them luck. 08033091935

Perfect choice. I read Prof. Osinbanjo's book on Law of Evidence in Law School. A book that turned the Law of Evidence to a novel, hence easy to understand. I think it is a perfect choice plus he is a believer. A choice of Fashola would have been fatal due to the their religion orientations considering how Nigerians are so conscious about religion. I am for them 100%. I think they are a formidable team. If only Nigerians can open their eyes and heads and look well.

Unknown said...

Osinbajo happens to b a good man, check his track record as the commissioner for justice in Lagos.... as for fashola It's just unfortunate if apc should go ahead and field him they might lose bcos the pdp has started a religious campaign against them already saying the apc is a Muslim party.

Anonymous said...

A 72 year old presidential aspirant. how old is his running mate? looks quite old to me. Here we go again. Please where are the youths of this great country?

Anonymous said...

Hmmm! I pity our nxt generation wit kind of trend. Virtually, every is jst concerned abt his or her religion. Y shld religion be a yardstick? Tor gud n fine we had pastors and Iman has leaders what wat dffernc hv dey made. God save Nigeria

SIMPLYCOCK said...

Linda, if ever APC wins the presidential election come Feb. 15, be sure that Buhari would have big issues with Osinbajo...
Tell you why...
The prof may be diminutive in physical stature, but he is a monumental intellectual giant..
Professor Yemi Osinbajo is extremely brilliant!!!!
Remember that he is not just an academic, i.e. a professor of Law, he is also a senior advocate of Nigeria (SAN)...
What does that tell you about the man?
1. He would be very augmentative; very polemic; wanting to win all the time..i.e. domineering.
2. He would be more of an idealist that a realist; but Politics is for realists..
3. He has very fat ego...
Thus, he may end up dominating Buhari's presidency because of his "BIG BRAIN."
Thus, it is either Buhari humbles himself to prof's coaching, or he might end up seeing him as an I-too-know person, who is constantly hectoring him to do things in the ideal way...
This is going to greatly trouble Buhari, who would be constantly reminded of the fact that the north fought at the cost of the blood of many of its people (through boko haram attacks, suicide bombings, etc) before he could emerge president...
Thus, beholden to the north, Buhari would always find himself halting between choosing to place premium on the needs, wishes and agenda of the part of the country from which he hails (the north) and choosing to do what is right...
Where Buhari fails to act according to prof's coaching to act right, the latter may suddenly become aware of his great intellect as against the small mind of his principal...
So, I fear that a dangerous clash of ego may undo a possible Buhari presidency, that is if the general ever becomes president with prof as his deputy...
If Buhari ever becomes president, I see the marriage between Hausas and Yorubas, which brought him into office, ultimately ending up disastrously...
And although Yorubas don't have the equivalent of north's boko haram or south-south's MEND or EGBESU, etc, but they have a highly critical press, whose hostility could be more dangerous than boko haram and MEND put together...
I like what is happening..
Because I see Yorubas bitterly regretting they ever entered this marriage with the north in the first place...
What can we do but siddon look...

Unknown said...

LINDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA, how can you say, you have not heard of him, haba.

My thoughts , I wonder why a Pastor will be a running mate to an unbeliever, UNLESS God specifically told him to. God's ways are mysterious, you know.

Plz shut up,a true christain indeed, guess he forgot that part of the bible that said d not be unequally yoked by unbelievers?

Thats easy to figure out Linda.
Recently, PDP started releasing statements that Buhari allegedly said ( turning nigeria into a muslim country et al.)
Well to dispel the negative words, Buhari picked a Christian PASTOR as his running mate- Go figure yall
