God has been v good to me.,last year I experienced a lot of illness ..my BP nearly gave me a stroke but I trod on..waking up at 2am and heading to work..exhausted sometimes..aching in my body a soul..mentally and emotionally drained ..but I kept going ..I smiled for the camera..I volunteered for extra shifts ..I showed respect to my colleagues from directors to the security guards..I took a lot of jealousy driven vicious insults and backstabbing from petty people without reply..I remain silent in my personal strife and misery..I kept smiling and pushing on to present better and to engage w my audience and increase my following.,long days and frustrating times..but I kept going..through the west gate mall coverage through the Mandela funeral..even when illness had me collapsing I delivered..today my boss the head of television called me for a 1 minute meeting..he said Komla we have decided to make you the anchor presenter for our coverage of the World Cup in Brazil ..we shook hands and I left..I looked to the sky and said thank you Lord for reminding me that you are on my side ..the enemy will be scattered..Selah!Selah! Praise Him..tomorrow is another day.Tomorrow is not promised. Live Your Best Life. Komla sure did! May his soul rest in peace...Amen.

May his soul rest in peace. I cried when I woke up very early this morning and meet the news on BBC. I have always enjoyed his focus on Africa. I just couldn't go on watching the SAG awards I intended to watch. Adieu Komola RIP.

May his soul rest in peace. Amen!
So sad. Why didnt he take a break when he knew he had bad health? Besides looks like he was going through some personal crisis that had to do with his love life. Otherwise why would he use the phrase ...'my misery?'
May your gentle soul RIP.
Awwwww...RIP komla!!
I JUST WATCHED A PRESENTATION HE MADE AT A TED CONFERENCE. MAY HIS SOUL REST IN PEACE.
HOWEVER, WE SHOULD NEVER GET SENTIMENTAL ABOUT THE FACT THAT THERE IS LIFE AFTER DEATH.
GOD WANTS US TO MAKE OUR EARTHLY LIVES TO COUNT.
This is a testimony that he sacrificed his health for the job. I don't approve because the BBC will and can replace him tomorrow when his wife and kids have lost him forever. Your health is your wealth.
May his soul rest in peace...Linda happy Sunday.
The pressure of working in a pressurised organisation like the BBC. He should have paid attention to his health and taken time off. What a sad loss. We all need to take our health more seriously.
Lindodo I know this does not concern this post. Alot of guys are claiming to be gays just to get london, usa visas, nawaaa for 9ja, in every disadvantage there is an advantage. Sharp guys don dey make sharp moves. Hahahaha
Hmmmm this touched me. RIP Komla.
So touching.RIP
I read with a tear filled eyes*sad*Adaora
oh my God. that's really sad
Awww!
~D great anonymous!
Amen!
OMG so touching RIP
Oh! May his soul rest well.
Lesson to the livings...your life is worth more than all the promotions, success and money. Ndu ka aku, Ndu bi isi as Igbo people say.
Thank you for sharing this, Linda. I was shocked when i read about his death on your blog yesterday. Komla went to medical school briefly with my husband but they remained friends despite being on different continents. My husband was very sad over his death and talked about how Komla's death is an awakening to the fact that we all have a very short time on earth. Komla Afeke Dumor was a trail blazer who made his mark on earth. I grieve for him, I grieve for his wife and young kids. R.I.P....
I can't just stop weeping!!! Indeed, tomorrow is not promised
He worked hard but never rest enuf,so wats his gain?
Amen ooo

So touching and really sad. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
....And he'll be replaced asap. That's the reality of life. No one is indispensable, as life must go on. Let's work to live, not live to work.
We all go through so much in our lives, but we often choose not to show it, putting on a show of a smile just to get by. I empathize with what he went through at work, going through the same ish now, but God dey. Linda like you said tomorrow is not promised. Like they said in a movie I watched recently: 'wanna make God laugh, tell about your plans' Hilary Obiorah
Live your life as if everyday its your last #uch
God be with you till we meet again.
awww men..So sad.RIP

One unending #QUESTION I keep asking myself every seconds of my very own God's gracious gift of continues existence per time to me is....,What is the essence of #LIVING knowing fully well that #DEATH is always around the corner awaiting us all....No matter your #WORTH..or #AGE......?
I just grew older.Tnx

This brought tears to my eyes. Truly, it shows tomorrow is not promised. Rest in peace Komla, I will surely miss you whenever I watch BBC' Focus Africa.
RIP. Nobody actually knows tomorrow.

Really touching post... I Thank GOD for everything but it made me wonder why evil people live long and good die early. I would have wished he lived longer to see/reap greater rewards for his patience and dedication.

Omg I'm feeling bad ryt now, God Pls take away untimely death from us, dis reminds me of how death tuk away our beloved pastor from us (pastor Inna Omakwu) even after he fought death, I miss him so much, (crying)
May God help us all. This culture of always being on top of our game is killing people in their prime. RIP

R.I.P. Komla, your labour will never be in vain.
OH... touching words. R.I.p man
He should have taken time off work to look after his health. He sounds like a workaholic.
So true, Linda, tomorrow isn't promised to anyone. RIP, Mr. Dumor. Only God knows.
KOMLA, your labour will never be in vain. Rest in peace.
So touching....RIP sir
This is not wisdom at all. Why kill yourself chasing vanity? And now, another shall take his place, Ήм̣̣̥̇̊мм̣̣̥̇̊‘♌⌣ .̮ ⌣♌Ήм̣̣̥̇̊мм̣̣̥̇̊” wisdom is profitable to direct. RIP
So painful, eternal rest grant him o Lord.
As I read this I cry for this fine gentleman. It's odd am just seeing this as I reside in London and didn't hear this until I saw it on this blog. May God grant him peace. Rest in peace, one of our own.
Wow, stories dat touch d heart. R I P. Live for now. 'Sergio Frankie'
RIP KOMLA DUMOR.
Such a pity an excellent presenter/journalist has died of heart attack being that he had known of his high BP.
Having worked in similar British working environment, I can so easily relate to his post. The brilliance of the British coworkers at deploying the most covert and subtle means to aggravate every lesser being (coloured or foreigner) in their little minded view, is enough to drive one up the wall(been there and got the t-shirt). As long as you're down the ladder and do not show any spark of ambition they will be your chums. Otherwise, you are a targeted threat that needs to be eliminated by every covert and subtle means of ridicule and prejudice. This in my view is the primary cause of death...be well aware if you're aspiring in that environment
Rip, komla.
Rest in peace...... The world will sure miss your face on TV.
Yeah, very inspirational. For Komla I will reiterate once more that he lived his purpose….another life lesson learnt. RIP…..xxxx
RIP..he was a presenter for african voices..so sad
Awwww such a torching writeup! May your soul rest in peace dear komla! I've been so sad ever since I had about the news yesterday! BBC focus on africa have lost one of their best news presenter!

this jus brought tears to my eyes like seriously. . especially "I smiled for thw camera" RIP.
May his soul rest in peace.
Kai! Most times we do not know what the other is going thru,we just wait 4 any slight excuse to rain abuses and insults on the next person, when we actually should be sharing love and lending helping hands to one another. Be nice,be good, show love today for u may not see the person 2morow or u may not see 2morow. Well lived Komla, RIP fine one.
Indeed tomorrow is not promised, continue 2 RIP komla
OMG dis got me crying...@ Linda yes ooo tomoa isn't promised so everyone. Should live dier lives Asif everyday is gona be Deir last. RIP Komla
Some people actually knew their dying day/time

So sad!....
OMG too bad. Success is all encompassing and not one sided. An all encompassing success is all I ask for oh lord. Such a bright African mind had to go too soon. People smile and they get hate but people do not know what they're going through inside. Do whatever makes you happy. Nobody knows how it feels to walk in your shoes.
This is just sad ;(
Awwwwww may his soul rest in peace
Yes, Linda, you are right- tomorrow is not guaranteed but I don't think that was what he meant- Komla must have been aware that you here today and gone tomorrow- RIP
Oh, what a life! I watched this guy just yesterday on TV. Oh, what a life!!!
Am touched
RIP mr Komla
May his soul rest in peace Amen so painful kai
May his soul RIP. Amen.
Tomorrow is pregnant...No one knows what it brings, so live the best of today, show love to one another now u v d chance and wait not for tomorrow. Keep resting in the Lord...
I think he lived his best life but in hindsight he should have stopped and taken care of his health first. We were discussing what could have caused his demise yesterday and my aunt said maybe he neglected his health. She was not too far from the truth. Working long hours and volunteering for extra shifts to impress your employer (BBC) is ambitious but not when you know you are suffering from Hypertension and possible stroke. I think Komla could have prevented his own death. All the same RIP Mr Boss Player. I feel for his family and his kids. From every indication he was a great father.
Great expression from the heart, he died an achiever knowing that God is on his side... Adios.
May his soul rest in perfect peace... 🙏💐
Oh! So sad. Komla may your soul rest in peace.
Hmmmm may his soul rest in perfect peace.
Amen!!! So sad. RIP Sir
Great expression from the heart, he died an achiever knowing that God is on his side... Adios.

Woww that's so sad,you didn't live to enjoy ur promotion. R.I.P!!
What can I say than to wish you a peaceful rest above? Lesson for all, Do all you can do today, because tomorrow is not sure for any of us.
See what ladies are doing these days at >> Nigerian Entertainment News

Awww,,so touching, may his gentle soul rest in perfect peace!!!!Amen.....
Live ur day like it's ur last
This is a man that is just and right with God. He knew his God and listened to the Holy Spirit. I say he is a Noah for Africa, I loved his presentations and admired his intelligence. He was a man of value to BBC.
May his soul rest in peace, thank God he knew Christ and he lived life the best he could, not giving excuses.
There is power in a spoken word, so sorry for the lost buh the point where he said tomorrow is not promised, was what killed him, for life and death are in the power of the tongue..linda take note.
May is soul rest in peace Amen #bright bravo#
We should all learn to STOP sometimes.
I fainted at work last year simply because everyone was pushing their workon me. They knew I would do it while they get paid.
When I was in the hospital for a whole week,no single call or text to check up on me. My sister who always complained I did too much was there by my side in the hospital and it was a wake up call for me.
Funny enough it was thejunior staff who pushed their work on me, they know I like quality work so they will wait last minute send it when they know I cant send it back and would have to redo the rubbish they sent.
When I came back yousend rubbish I reply and copy the Boss witha query, that nonesense stopped, stopped taking my work home weekends.
Its good to work hard but they WILL GO ON WITHOUT YOU
Wow!this is really so touching..may his soul R.I.P(Amen)
Chai!!!, what is life dat thou art mindful of? May his soul rest in d bossom of the Lord

Rip brother
Don't really know him but he seems like a nice man. RIP...life is indeed short...
Amen,
Atleast he lived with a sense of accomplisment...
RIP handsome man, now d wife is a widow, sad face.
This is what Ethnic professionals go through in US/UK on a daily basis so much pressure just because you went against the grain..worked for a Hedge Fund once...and almost lost my mind...always had panic attacks which was alien to me until then..also considering I had to travel from outside london into work...once we lost our finance director at 37!!...never ill always first in and last to leave...did some minute silence thingy and worked carried on as usual...I was so happy to get out of there if not it would have been fatal..
They wouldn't announce his death online would they!!...and def not the Fb post which would make them seem culpable...sure you not aware of how many people have lost their lives in Investment banking and other pressurised jobs ??...so glad now contracting out my services now...I decide under what terms and conditions I'm willing to work and not just looking at the £££ signs...R.I.P
This should server as a lesson to all Professionals..listen to your body and always ask God...If I'm doing the right thing
RIP man it is well wit ur family..
Dis bring me to tears,u remind me of my late father write up.may his soul RIP.. *melancholymood*
*adefunke*
*tears in my eyes* u sure lived ur best.RIP
Work life Balance is so important. Never ever kill yourself for a job, if u are sick take a break , before you become late. Stress killed him.

RIP KOMLA DUMOR.

He sort of saw this coming! Don't know what he did about it. Life is not all about work - there must be some balancing!! Though Kom's heart has stopped beating BBC has not stopped running!! Hard lesson!!!
GOD luvs u more komla RIP
I agree wif anon 4:42. Always, I repeat always listen to ur body and how it works never ever drag your body to its limits, cos it might be too late. If only his wife knew somfn on how to manage it when a patient has a cardiac arrest. And like the saying goes in yoruba : emi ise gun ju emi eniyan lo (ur jobs has more yrs, than ur being) u shld not make ur job a do or die one. Its not worth it.
'Slim
How can a finance director die at 37 that is sick omg. I know exactly what you mean because i worked for a bank in london while at uni and the pressure is out of this world. All they cared about is targets targets targets. It is insane.
RIP komla so sad and this post says it all. The bbc will soon shut down his facebook page.
Hmmmmm. May God forgive his sins and accept his soul.
May his soul rest in peace.Fine young man
Word.
So sad. *sobbing

Well said.
No job is worth dying for.
Health is wealth.
Very touching. RIP
Tomorrow is not promised. Live your best life. Komla sure DID NOT. Now someone else will be on Brazil. O di mono egwu. Wake up call for me. RIP Komla.
may he RIP
Love him. Again let me say this to people. Please do not drive yourself to the ground trying to succeed. Learn to take time off to allow your body rest. He said his BP almost gave him a stroke, I think he should have taken a vacation. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY AND REST PLSSSSS-Newyorker
At the end of the day,we have to decide what's important. Learn to listen to your body and stop to rest money isn't evrithin. So many professionals go dis way
linda , de man never die .i saw it on some blogs dat de man insulted bloggers for saying he is dead
Rip. It tounch my hearth n soul
Hmmmmm....Aye yi sha!
God knows best nd HE sees it A̶̲̥̅ll . Rip dear.
