Ebola: Lagos records 5 new suspected cases

The Lagos State government has announced that 5 new suspected cases of Ebola virus have been recorded at the Yaba Isolation Centre. The state Commissioner for health, Dr Jide Idris made this known today while addressing journalists. Dr Idris said that two of the five new cases were from secondary contacts and that 213 people are now being observed
"Till date, we have recorded eight suspected cases, five of which came in yesterday August 19th, 12 confirmed. On the whole, five have died (including the index case). We are currently following up 213 contacts, and 62 have completed the two-day follow-up,” Dr Jide said
Dr. Idris used the opportunity to pay tribute to late Dr Ameyo Adadevoh and other health workers who have so far died from the Ebola virus disease. Continue...
"She, (Dr. Adadevoh) it was, who took the initiative to intimate the Ministry concerning the index case – Liberian-American (Mr. Patrick Sawyer) and substantially to her credit the moderate containment achieved is owed. She led the team who attended to the index case. Her doggedness and commitment to duty saw her personally reviewing the case even though the patient had earlier been seen by a doctor. The Ministry of Health commiserates with their families, co-workers, friends and loved ones on these irreparable losses which was on the line of duty,” he said

I'm so tired of dis ebola. Said dat d medical equipment used by medical personnel are not up to standard or well disinfected

And that is all! Yet, health workers (doctors, nurses, pharmacists, lab technologists etc) earn a meagre hazard allowance of 5, 000 naira mthly, an improvement over the paltry 833naira they used to earn. DR JIDE IDRIS, HOW MUCH IS YOUR ENTERTAINMENT ALLOWANCE?

Until this epidemic wipes out everyone in Lagos, perhaps then will the govt realize that the state should be on a total lock down for at least a week to contain and restrict the spread of the ebola...but no, its all about how much the govt will lose if working activities are paralysed in a day rather than the value of life. Schools, ministeries, travel stations, social or other large gatherings and perhaps banks should be on a temprary lock down for a few days to help in containing the spread. Movement will be restricted hence the virus too and affected people can easily be identified and contained instead of having a pending chaos....my opinion though

God has already told us what to do concerning diseases, sickness, affliction and every work of darkness. - TAKE AUTHORITY
SPEAK TO THE MOUNTAIN

When Peter's mother-in-law lay sick with the fever, Jesus took authority. He called the fever by name and commanded it to leave.
Are we really Christians?
Is there ANY annointed amongst us?
Take authority.

We shall not sorrow like them that have no God. Dear Ameyo, untill we meet again in glory, rest in peace.
- AE.

I must really commend the lagos state government, it's ministry of health and health workers for working hard to contain the virus and informing the public periodically what is going on. Dr Adadevoh is a true hero... She saved us from what would have been a catastrophe despite pressure from the Liberian embassy to release mr sawyer.... She would be embraced by our Lord and savior as we have embraced that notion here on earth.... Nigeria has to sit up

What hasn't been said? It is only for our leaders to action because the epidemic is spreading fast. Lagos state should declear one week public holiday to help contain this disease.

Okay this shit is now getting serious and very scary. The number is going up, secondary infection and shit! One has to laminate the persons self. I really thought we had this shit under control.

Anonymous said...

Where did the other 3 cases come from? So that we will know how things stand with us. Our neighbours have no case. We have 3 cases which have not been explained.
