GEJ's special adviser on job creation promises to create 5, 000 jobs

Ms Josephine Washima is President Jonathan's Special Adviser on job creation. There's a special adviser on job creation? #ohok! Anyway, Ms Washima today at a news conference in Abuja, promised to create at least 5, 000 jobs for people who are qualified. What she said below...
Last week someone called me and was offering me 5, 000 job vacancies. We are going to have a website where people can upload their CVs. I don’t need to know you; I don’t need to know your face. Just go there, if you qualify for that job, apply for it and be sure that you will be called up for an interview.
We are not bringing anything new. We are not trying to do something that has never been done before. But we are going to build on existing structure and strengthen the labour laws of this country in such a way that we will do away with bottle-necks.
We don’t need anybody asking any Nigerians for a note to get a job from anybody. We will work closely with the National Bureau of Statistics to get appropriate data of unemployed Nigerians.

And what difference exactly will the 5000 jobs make compared to the number of unemployed graduates (at least) out there?

Fatimah said...

National Bureau of kini? Those ones that don't know the number of their staff. I give it to her, she's got jokes!

Btw, 5000 is too small for a whole FG. If Osun state can provide over 10,000 jobs in 100 days and is still paying all those employed without problems, why can't FG do multiples of that?

Rubbish! how can you say you would create 5000 jobs just bcos someone called you last week and told you he/she has 5000 job positions to offer.

You want to create jobs you know nothing about.
You don't know what economic sector you want to create the job for.
You don't know if they are skilled or unskilled labour or if they are temporary or permanent positions.

Ms Washima, are you going to create jobs out of the air? The outside world is having a good laugh at your naivete. Rule of thumb no 1 for creating jobs is create a stable, progressive and conducive business environment then you wont need to make this embarrassing announcement. This means encourage investors, eliminate 419, prevent airlines from making travel a nightmare and a "not necessary" by not allowing anything but in person bookings for flights that include Nigeria as a destination because we have been tagged a high fraud route (what a “forsaken by all” country), shutting down Boko Haram to create a sense of stability for investors, improve your educational system so that graduates can write one correct sentence in English (which in today's world means castrating most male lecturers who are sexual predators and engaged in prolific sex for grades blackmail, and killing off the rest who sell handouts and use other intimidation means other than teaching to create a non-academic environment – and DRUMROLL….it CAN BE DONE and SHOULD BE DONE), encourage microeconomies (Nigeria has the consumer base; figure out what types of economies abroad including that Dubai of a place are surviving only because of Nigerians, and make a concerted effort to bring those types of businesses and jobs home), provide SUPERVISED incentives to honest and well-meaning Nigerians (Not the uber rich and women who can get anywhere with their downlow) to set up small scale industries across the nation, etc etc. I no be economist but I sabi all these things because I live in a country where we have these debates sometimes as intellectuals and at least those who want to be informed can be informed. You are creating 5000 jobs for the 10k illiterate and uneducated youth in my local government area? When you talk nationwide, are you including all those young northern men who are in phase 3 of what happens when there is massive inequity in society? The ones in my LGA who now kidnap and are technically on salaries of 3-4 million naira every 3 weeks? How much you wan pay them, sister? Na 5k jobs every month abi na 5k jobs for now and evermore? Where did GEJ my love and sweetie pie pick these people? Patience abeg hurry up return house see whether you go help my bros. The more I think about this the more agitated I get. Abeg, na early momo for here. Linda make I no fill all your space with my vexation. Its too early for HBP resulting from all these annoying announcements. When will it stop!!!!

The SA job Creation is a woman that has without anything or an appointment developed human beings and guided them to become who they want to become thru entrepreneurship skills development...if you do not know her go and read her profile and see what she has done in her active work life...she's just not a big mouthed Nigerian who does not believe in her country...it is a shame that we Nigerians prefer to go be second-class citizens else where in the world wash up old people's shit...pls if you are not joining the train of young Nigerians who have decided to make a change u can do us a favor and keep quite cos you have no value to add.

And by the way all i read on this blog is about cheating husbands, girlfriends etc, so i do not expect anyone here to be supportive of someone who has being helping ordinary Nigerians all along with no support from anywhere...guys just report ur cheating husbands n wives n girlfriends n boyfriends n leave job creation alone...u cant b jack of all trades...cave out a niche for urselfs n create a job...if u love blogging start one lets c how u will do...

mwuese said...

Job Creation is a continuous process and its not just about money but about encouraging ppl to start a business doing what they like doing...so if its gossip u like pls start a blog or go take up a job as a journalist...trust me u will make it.

mwuese said...

Thank u Victor...lets learn to give ourselves the benefit of doubt n not b quick to condemnation for lack of knowledge...everyone has a life style but its what u do to add value to society that matters to some of us...pls all ya bloggers what ve u done to help another human being in ur life's b4 other then try very hard to destroy them...lets start from there....

mwuese said...

Thank u Mr. Okeowo for that advise...i will certainly check out ur blog...weldone. Please those who ve ears should hear....and those who ve started a business and ran aground, pls don't give up....keep trying or seek professional advise on how to start and grow a business and pls give constructive criticism and not bad belle criticism when u ve not being able to succeed at anything.

The office of SA jobcreation is barely up and running and I think what we really need (as hard as it may seem) is to give them a chance and see what they have to offer...

It is well!

Hey peeps! What I read here is lack of believe. People! BELIEVE. When you believe in ur self u can then believe in someone or something and that will work right.
There's so much criticism and sarcasicm in all comments, but I guess she who is working to create jobs already know that data has to be collected, skilled n unskilled, so why can't you all be supportive n give her a chance. Correct, we have been so messed up in the country but when you look around who are the people that messed us up? Ourselves, for we condemn before accepting, please guys let's be realistic and do something to help ourselves instead of cheap talk. BELIEVE guys. SA to the president on job creation has come to work n work she will.

mwuese said...

Now we know that we ve a big task ahead of us bcos some Nigerians that r supposed to b knowledgable n exposed cannot distinguish btw "job creation n a blow job, but not to worry, that is y we are opening up job centers all over the country to enable those that ve no idea or clue what they want to achieve in life can go there and get free career counseling, to realize their dream. Pls BELIEVE!!!

mwuese said...

@Ritz we are BELIEVERS, pls join the train and stop being an unbeliever. Nigerians believe in yourselves...we can change our country only if we support ourselves n stop engaging in unproductive activities.

mwuese said...

Thank u very much guys for expressing ur opinions and giving the office of the SA job creation celebrity status by ur comments...we really appreciate. BELIEVE!!!

Ritz said...

Like seriously guys, we need to give this office a chance. You don't just condemn what u ve not seen, give it a chance.
Creating the office alone has created some jobs! I believe more will be created! Jobs will be created.

Just BELIEVE!

mwuese said...

Pls we should learn to express ourselves openly and stop being anonymous, make yourselves known and let your voices be heard cos you don't know where your help will come from...BELIEVE!!!

Ritz said...

Job centers! I knew something good will come out of this office, I mean they sure know what they are doing. Who ever put that Lady there ain't doing no mistakes I know she will perform and we naija youths will be proud to have some one like that there.

For me I have never heard any one made such a promise. Of course many projects have been brought on board for job creation n nothing has come up, I get that! It's quite frustrating but I see a new light. Kudos to the president on this one. It is well! The SA will deliver, let's support her.
