The highly pulsating movie is visually stimulating and boasts of uncompromised top notch production values. It was directed by award winning director, Seyi Babatope and stars Nollywood’s finest; DakoreEgbuson, OmoniOboli, Bikiya Graham Douglas, Diana Yekini, Tina Mba, Tope Tedela, and the Child stars;Kada Mathew , Cassandra Rosman,SunshineRosman , DonpetEnebeli, ChrostopherOchiyanbo, Deborah Oboh, and Louie Obioha.
The movie unveils BankeAdewunmi, a
23-year-old National Youth Corp inductee who is posted to the prestigious
Junior Secondary School for her primary assignment. The school however, has a
policy not to accept any employees outside of it vetting channels, particularly
NYSC placement applicants. The school at the present time, through increased
costs in management, is going through financial constraints.
The recourse for a remedy happens
to be the annual Governors Scholastic, Sports and Arts Cup. A competition between
all the schools in the State that provides the winning school with financial
cash prize, computers, and academic scholarships and above all the bragging
rights for a year to be the school with the Governor shield of merit, which
leads to an increase number of applications to the institution.
Banke is given the role of a
caretaker substitute teacher to the kids considered to be non-athletes and
difficult to deal with and who serve no purpose in the quest to win the
Governors cup. She wins the hearts of the students and convinces the
principal to enter them for the art portion of the competition. Banke uses her
passion for cooking and the kid’s enthusiasm to use their culinary skills as an
athletic prowess, which ultimately wins the day.
According to Kene Mkparu, MD/CEO Of FilmOne “Having produced and released the blockbuster ‘When Love Happens’ in 2014 which was directed by Seyi Babatope, we are confident that Lunch Time Heroes will repeat the same feat at the Box office. It’s another feather added to our cap, being the first to tow the family drama path. There’s no family movie in cinemas where the entire family can watch films together without having to put up with the ratings allotted to films which causes a division as to who can and cannot watch the film. Lunch time heroes provide families with a remarkable bonding time and a rejuvenating and inspiring experience.”
The Director
of the film, Seyi Babatope and CEO Of PHB Films stated “It was exciting working on this film with these talented children and
ofcourse the stars. It only goes to show that the Nation has resourceful
talents that can be harnessed to achieve great things. There certainly were
challenges, being the first of its kind to be produced in Nigeria, but my
experience and the acting dexterity of the Cast and sound professionalism of
the crew made it a walk in the park. I’m sincerely thrilled about the film and
look forward to afantastic run in cinemas and the inspiration to achieve their
dreams which children, teenagers, youths and the elderly ones will have after
watching Lunch Time Heroes in cinemas”.
Lunch Time Heroes will be released in Cinemas
from August 28th 2015.
