The South Korean Constitutional Court at its plenary session yesterday February 25th struck down a 60-year-old law which forbids all act of adultery and punishes violators with two years imprisonment.
The presiding justice, Park Han-Chul while striking out the law said even though the act of adultery is bad, the country had no power in interfering in peoples private lives
“Even if adultery should be condemned as immoral, state power should not intervene in individuals’ private lives,” said presiding justice Park Han-Chul.In the last six years, close to 5,500 people have been formerly arraigned on adultery charges including nearly 900 in 2014. In 2004, 216 people were jailed for adultery but the numbers dropped to 42 in 2008 and from 2008 till date, only 22 people had been sentenced to jail.
Now, married people in South Korea can have sex with other people and not face any penalty. I kinda support this. Why jail someone for adultery? It's too personal biko...something only the person's partner should deal with...

In Nigeria, we have more odd laws than legalizing adultery.
Commiting adultery is more of a private stuff than national thing. I totally agree with them. People deserve their rights to privacy.
it has taking judicial notice...albeit,ignorantia judicis est calamitas innocientis.

Linda, you headline is INCORRECT. They are not legalizing adultery but are decriminalizing it. This means, it is no longer an offense, against the law in Korea, to commit adultery. It does not mean the law supports adultery.
Linda u self 2 spoil like werin? Hmmmmm
Linda you are oloshi , ode and why u no give me ur yanch make I dey fuck daily. Asshole
Not their business at all. Btw the husband and wife only for matured couple, no third party if you still want ur marriage to move on, unless you want otherwise then 3rd party can be involve.
Something is really wrong with them... Pls visit rellaidiovo.blogspot.com
It is not that bad! The law just stepped out of its citizens' lives. The headline made it sound salacious
i support this law too, the world suppose to be a free world/ freedom place.
it's personal life so he/ she can do anything they want with it since it's has no bad effect on others/ the society at large. if you caught your wife/ husband cheating deal with it by yourself, jailing shouldn't take place

I wont call this legalizing it, They making it a private matter and not a government problem. I don't think you get arrested for committing adultery in Nigeria too
Adultery and it's likes is a personal thing. The people involved should deal with it.
not in support.
...........****PRAY4NIGERIA*****.............
Uplifting the ban is okay, there are other alternatives though Mutini abi wetin. LMAO
Now I knw n blv dat d world is actually coming 2 an end
Adultery should'nt be a crime in d first place. The partner has d right to divorce d cheat and move on..jailing a person cos of adultery is laughable. Its their personal life and the state shouldnnt interefere. So its a good thing they struck out d law. While adultery is morally wrong,I don't think anyone should be jailed for indulging in it. Its left for their partner to either keep condoning d cheating partner or divorce him/her and move on with life. Imagine calling police to come and arrest ur husband/wife in nigeria cos they are cheating. That means there won't be space in our prisons naa.
Wait!!!!..........WhAAAAATttttt!!!!!, lolz jux kidding. deir own cup of Asian tea oooo

U r so on point, no mind linda
Na normal tin for Naija na
No nah in Nigeria it's not normal o,, people hide. At least it's legalised 4 both sexes. If it were Nigeria, they'll make it legal for just males. All in all it is madness. #Endtimes. God save us.----C21
what a place to live
Someone said this is good because the law stepped out of the private lives. But the law is there to control human abuse of their lives and freedom. Sex is private. But your privacy right does not provide you to make love with somebody else's son, daughter, husband or wife. Doing this is an intrusion on others' lives, rights and privacy, and is an offence punishable by law.
God punish you!
K, think it mks sense!
All means to get these population issue they are having solved
Y should anybody be jailed for adultery anyway? Doesn't make sense,it shudnt b a crime, but its also not morally right
Prison term for adultery?! But why?! Good thing they've ditched it!
Na dem sabi
And So ..............
China wants to follow their own Law and not that of God. Sodom and Gomorah
Chai ekwensu has taken over their land too bad
You sin against your body and sin against God sir! It actually shouldn't be the government's concern anyways but nonetheless, the Lord Jesus teaches one man-one woman so adultery is totally out of the question! It is well. Gen 2:18, 1 cor 6:9. @Bishop_Dammy
Holy FUCK.
.Asia on my mind... Lol.. People shouldn't be jailed for that. I support these
Yes but in naija no one goes to jail for adultery. In fact extra marital affairs are treated as normal. How can u jail someone for a moral sin. Adultery is bad and a sin but should be between the couple and God and not the state.
Choi, this world is coming to an end
This is crazyyyyyy and Dats against GOD'S word, no need to marry na
Toooo bad
I support this decision. I think in as much as adultery is bad and condemnable, it falls within the private sphere of an individual's life and not subject to state intervention. Adultery is a ground for nullification of marriage, so either party who alleges adultery can approach the court for a divorce on such ground rather than the state congesting its prisons on offences which are really within the personal sphere.

As if there is any legal law against adultery in Nigeria
That's what Linda ikegi will say until Kim k will commit adultery and then you will block our eyes and ears with your hypocritical nonsense.
hmmm na wa o.In nigeria this is really not an issue. you do it or you leave it. shike nan.
We all know that men love to deal with multiple women. through out their lives. And women these days do all they can to attract men. and the woman at home more often push the guy by not treating him appropriately.
Yep its not legalising adultery.. its promoting humanity
I dsagree,d law really reduced adultry....now men/women will b free 2do wat dy like
I agree onyx.
OKORO UPGRADED

Linda, I think you should know most people behaves like animal. When you think the person's partner should deal with the situation, to me it's like you've handed them a gun, cutlass, juju, etc. cos even when adultery was under the law people still go to the extend of killing people caught with their partners thereby committing another crime. Now expect more criminal offenses since you just gave the asian partners involved the right to "deal with it"
End time God have mercy

It is quite an irony... the state should not interfere in people's private lives? But forgetting that what we do in our privates is what we bring to the larger society... if man or woman breaks a vow or commitment and makes the partner angry enough to cause harm, since it is a private matter, should the state not react? I think that judge should be investigated. He is cancelling the law because he is guilty of it.
Please it is not everything these white people do is of a sound mind and we African should not follow them.
Dy better go back to deir law,dts aw men will be giving deir wives HIV nd d rest after doing deir iranu outsyd!!!
Evil continues....
We need diz law in Nigeria I beg.
Na them sabi .
By the way, why are they wasting resources to penalize the culprits instead of channeling it to a benefiting subject . They can as well carry out another one that jail's people from lying or being ugly .
All i'm saying is: their body, their life .Let them commit the sin if they like and give God their reason when the trumpet sounds .
Everyone knows Asian countries suck at making laws
Tayo God will not punish him,, Yourba people ,, very adulterous in nature ...
Nw dem sabi
For real, it's good, why should the law intrude into such issues that has to do with people's emotions. Am not in support of Adultery but it has nothing to do with government pushing it's citizen. Rather, Citizen should handle it on their own. It's a welcome development for them.
If Eva DAT kind of law pops up in naija....in fact even buhari & Jonathan will bkom best frnds or even drop d race 2stop such a law..!
do not be tribalistic abt it, in naija anybody can fornicate or commit adultery,we are very secretive here.
Hebrews 13:4
really feel sad for the south korean society ....Already south korea has lost its native culture a lot and has become too much materialistic and westernised which earlier it was not to such an extent ..!!!No doubt It has become technologically and economically advanced but some good social aspects have been affected too .
..Though such matters like adultery are purely personal., still somewhere in the heart south korean people and judiciary should realise that certain moral code of conduct are necessary for the well being of the family and society on the large !!!
If people start taking undue advantages then there would be a lot of confusion first at family level then at society level and children would bare the consequences a few generations after
Having a law does help in such matters to some extent..
.Now that the law is not there it is better if the south korean adults think twice before they act....
Well..Though matters like adultry are highly personal.... It does help a lot if there is a law checking such affairs.and a law does prevent some people from not taking undue advantages !!!It might perhaps also provide a more secure family and social structure compared to the absence of the law .!!
..Now that it is no more criminal south korean adult people need to think twice before they act..,
I'd start by quoting from Hebrews 13:4
"Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous."
and continue with Deuteronomy 22:22
“If a man is found lying with the wife of another man, both of them shall die, the man who lay with the woman, and the woman. So you shall purge the evil from Israel(but here, the world).
Let's not kid ourselves 'cos Romans 7:3 says;
Accordingly, she will be called an adulteress if she lives with another man while her husband is alive. But if her husband dies, she is free from that law, and if she marries another man she is not an adulteress.
So, if found wanting then Revelation 21:8
But as for the cowardly, the faithless, the detestable, as for murderers, the sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars, their portion will be in the lake that burns with fire and sulfur, which is the second death.”.
Thank you...
