Hian! Protesting coz they haven't had light for a while.
Can you imagine, which place in Nigeria is having constant electricity at the moment? Even here in Abuja we rarely see light.

Mcheeeeeeew! Light matter in Nigeria no be wetin person dey discuss on an empty stomach. Linda take note!

The only diplomatic language our government seem to understand is strike and protest. For and education system there should be 24 hour light, at least for the purpose of ongoing research purpose. We can only hope things get better with our dear country

See unnecessary trouble b display by dis students. D no light issue is sth general in Lagos. Even in my area there has not b constant light since d past 2weeks. Salaries almost spent on fuel, and I do wonder how business in Lagos cope wit dis.

Will u guys just stop all dis rubbish,if u r not ready to learn pls leave d younger ones in primary sch to beat u guys to it nd stop stressing us d mother who will av to trek from d gate to our child's sch just to drop dem off in sch, bcos of light u guys r causing trouble, idiots

Unknown said...

Can u imagine! In this jet age, students living on campus don't have access to power supply. How do they expect these guys to read overnight??? Especially in darkness n heat condition. Smh. We need Berth Nnaji back

HENRY CHRIS said...

Fuck u.. Cuz u don't know what it feels like. And u don't know how bad it can be to be in darkness..

Mrs Annonymous, University of Lagos is not for primary school students. Just because a primary school is there does not mean it is meant to be so, if you cannot deal, take your children to a primary school that isnt inside a university. Your children will someday be in universities and wen they protest, other mothers will label them idiots.

dey av examz n dia is no light aw dey wan take read abeg wetin no good no good

I think this is a very serious issue, this has nothing to do with whether they have light in their houses light is a prerequisite for students to thrive well in their studies.. The importance of light as it affects their studies, laboratories, public address system for lecturers, ventilation for the overcrowded lecture Hall etc cannot be overemphasised... Pls government should take this seriously if Education is really top priority

Anonymous said...

Unserious students, Unilag is not a school anyway.

PATALEX said...

IDIOTS!!! THEY SHOULDN'T READ THEIR BOOKS, THEY SHOULD CONTINUE TO PROTEST.

ovuchi said...

They should use candles and stop wasting there time and there parent' money.

Bringing back student union in UNILAG caused this, now they can start protesting everything. www.bunnmisimplesblog.com

Unknown said...

UNILAG uses light for almost everything they do from cooking to assignment and thats even the least to mention. So let there but light.Govt pls do something.

Nigeria has grown pass this stage. What is our government doing about our future? What hope do we have when a Fed Uni like Lagos can't afford 24/7 light for the students. Too bad!

Unknown said...

Hmmm

Unknown said...

D school authority should supply d school during a particular hour light via gen.

Anonymous said...

D light situation over here is really bad...even water issues r quite terrible..water can't even b stored because it will start bringing out some brownish stuffs. Some pple even use sachet water to have their bath..we can't even cook in d hostel cos gas nd stove isn't allowed...under all these conditions dey still want us to start exams next week..meanwhile a lot of lecturers r still giving students test during lecture free week

Anonymous said...

Dey no get light to read or to watch dstv

Subomi said...

so far there is no violence, its all good

Anonymous said...

D lazy Students want postponement of exams cuz they've not read, making stupid excuses bout d power n shii..we've been getting reasonable power supply even with d said faults.. Abeq I one leave school before month end o

Anonymous said...

How are they supposed to read without light? There's no light to even use to charge rechargeable lamps so plss take several seats n just keep quiet

Anonymous said...

No light..no water.. Hot classrooms,no public address system, no light to study and their exams are next week, they can't cook, they barely have water. And they want them to write exams under this condition. pls why won't they protest.. Kmt

Unknown said...

The Current SUG president happen to be my one time teakwondo trainer and a smart man,I trust his decision to go on the protest. But at the same time,he should remember that violence doesn't solve any problem but create more.

Unknown said...

Pls o, I pray the protest end peacefully

dazzi said...

Exam don reach n some pple neva prepare hence the protest!

Anonymous said...

There is constant power supply in unilag, na wen exam don dey near dem dey like to take light anyhow(rumor has it that school authority doesn't want any student to run mad frm over jacking).
You people should keep quiet and get yourselves more rechargeable lamps, Alumni b4 youu survived it, Jambitos after you will face it too because Unilag will always hold power during Exam periods...

Anonymous said...

You are talking like dis bcos u Dnt understand what d students go thru.. Dis same light is what we use to cook. No stove is allowd just hotplate.. D water we use for bathing nko... +we can't SLP in darkness since candl is not allowed. Dats d reason why student re not comfortable.. But now d light is stable... I love unilag dey listen to d plea of d students

prettiyz said...

Sorry for them

This case is even worse In college of medicine. Two weeks straight without electricity. No water. Bad roads. Congested classrooms. Poor hospital facilities. Patients die anyhow because of little things. Even more serious things; like no electricity to carry out surgery procedures. It is really bad. For a school that's training doctors and other health professionals.

CMS said...

But wait o, this time they are using to protest, can't they use it to read?

This has been a normal phenomenon and people have been passing.

Anyway, the school should do the needful, especially when they generate a lot of income from the students

Unknown said...

I THINK LINDA SHOULD GET HER FACTS BEFORE POSTING ANY NEWS! I'm a student leader from UNILAG and was well informed about the protest. The peaceful protest was performed on the grievances that erupted due to the discrepancies enacted by the ULSU, School Management and lecturers. There is a statutory lecture-free week before examinations but it has been decorated with tests and lectures. Can you bear my situation; a year two student of economics that has two tests; finance and statistics to be precise on saturday then face exams all through next week. Amidst this dilapitated situation, the school management made no avail of water and power supply, and they disrupted academic activities with convocation. This is not obtainable anywhere in the first world and NONE OF THEIR KIDS CANT STUDY UNDER THIS CRUEL CONDITION

Very Funny! She I una vote for #Change? This is a tip of the Iceberg!

On a serious note, The V.C & D.V.C should account for the allocations given to the school. Because they are supposed to make provisions for the supply of diesel for the school generators
