Unilag Muslim students Organisation today protested at the
Dean of Students Affairs Office, at the University of
Lagos. Their group was reportedly dissolved by the school management and
an official named Mr Musa, was put in charge to oversee any further
duty associated with the group.. The students are protesting because
they want the school to reinstate their organisation, remove the
official put in charge based on accusations that he is unfair to them
and for things to return to Status Quo. More exclusive photos after the

Students of the University of Lagos on Wednesday protested the suspension of the Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria’s (MSSN) branch in the institution by the management.
Reports gathered that the management of UNILAG had suspended activities of the MSSN and also dissolved its executives on Tuesday, November 3, 2015, over a petition by a group seeking to be part of the MSSN leadership.
During the protest, the students accused the management of ‘undue’ involvement in their activities, alleging that their freedom of association was imprisoned in the hands of some lecturers. Adding that after the handing over of all the Society’s asset to the staff advisers as ordered by their university management, Islamic activities remained paralysed in the university.
In their hundreds, armed with placards, the students marched peacefully from the mosque to the university’s gate and later to the Division of Student Affairs demanding for the restoration of their society (MSSN) and its activities. The spokesperson for the protesting students, Alaba Ojo, described the suspension of MSSN activities as a tool to deny Muslim students of proper enlightenment about their religion.
While responding to the agitations of the students, the UNILAG’s Dean of Division of Student Affairs, Professor Gabriel Babawale, assured that a congress would be called to resolve the challenges facing the MSSN in the university.

MY OBSERVATIONS.
- Religious issues are sensitive and held dearly by their adherents. Therefore insulting the belief of anyone because you don't belong is ethically wrong
- Let us endeavour to speak objectively and fairly about all issues and more importantly from position of knowledge about the subject matter. it is unfair and intellectually fraudulent to take position on a matter one does know much about.
- let us endeavour to first establish the guilt of somebody before condemnation.Surely nobody wants to be unjustly accused and castigated
- let us strive to exchew bigotry, parochialism, sentiments and hatred because they do more evil to those who abhor them than to the targeted person(s). It fills the host with inner frustration and high BP while the intended target may not even be aware.
- No matter the temptation we should resist the urge not to be fair and just towards others even if you are on the opposing side. Indeed The Almighty Allah is ever with the Just - even if they are atheist
- we can achieve more through respect, appreciation and positive engagement with one another. This is indeed the way of the truly enlightened and civilized ones.
