Niasse caused public outrage in May when he allegedly made derogatory remarks about Prophet Muhammad to followers as they marked the birthday of the former leader of the Muslim Tijaniyya Sufi order, Ibrahim Niasse.

The court and its jury should ask themselves "Is this what Prophet Muhammad SAW would have done" they claim to know the life of the holy prophet so much but they have misinterpreted many of his teachings... The prophet wouldn't even sentence a person to death for trying to kill him, so u can speak less of blasphemy. Yes, Nigeria is a secular state. However, in the north, for states that have implemented sharia, Muslims within those states are strictly bound by sharia law.
However, sharia law doesn't affect people of other religions. So I guess he signed on for it by being a muslim.
