According to Francis Waithaka, the CEO of Digital4Africa, who shared the photo on twitter, Eunice Leshunet from Kenya was assaulted by her husband because she declared her interest in running for a senatorial seat in 2017.

He tried to discourage me but I stood my ground he opened his mouth and said God forbid his own wife go into politics, I said but Why? He said so my plan is to be richer than him. That his wife should be at home taking care of the children. I said OK ooooo thank God am not your wife and I worked out. And thank God I did not end up with a man with such mind set.
