The Bank Abuja reacts to alleged head breaking incident at their club

Earlier today, a man narrated an incident he claimed happened at The Bank club Abuja, where his friend was nearly killed after being hit on the head with a red label bottle (read here) following a misunderstanding. Reacting, the club denied involvement in the incident. Their statement below...
Our attention has been drawn to an ongoing rumour that a man identified as Mr. Rex had his head broken at the Bank Club in Abuja on July 5th. Even though we hardly respond to a made up story based on writer's imagination, we are quick to say the writer is on a witch-hunt mission, which we can only term self destructive.
We are not oblivious of the fact that we have big competitors in this business, but we are shocked that some individuals could be so pushed to the extent of connecting us to an incident that does not involve us directly. We beg to dissociate ourselves from the incident, and for the record, The Bank is against all forms of violence, not just around where it is situated, but everywhere in the country. Our track record is straight, especially on the issue of security within and outside the club.

We react thus:

1. Why have they suddenly realized the need to go to the media for an incident that they claimed happened on the 5th of July? From our record, it's almost a month since they claimed the incident happened. To us, they had to take their time to cook up the lies.

2. The writer admitted his friend  had a misunderstanding with a man, whose name was not mentioned in his report. We wonder how the Bank is connected to the explanation given as to what led to the misunderstanding. The same man had admitted touching three girls on their a**es which made our security men to see them out of the club after a disagreement. We were surprised to have had him approach us with some policemen over an issue between him and his colleague he claimed had trouble with him from another club over the same issue.  How can the club be blamed for his uncultured behaviour that resulted to a squabble? Instead of raising frivolous allegation against a reputable club such as the Bank, we urge the writer to advise his friend on the need to be civil going forward.

3. The same friend brought some policemen to the club the next day and the law abiding club addressed both the police and the alleged victim with all civility, hence the latest publication is continuously and witch-hunt mission.

4. We do not see any reason our club should be connected to the incident that happened outside the club, following a spontaneous reaction from an angry man. Even if our security men were to do anything to forestall such incident, it's definitely not a case that happened outside the club and spontaneously.

5. How can the same 'Rex'(we suspect) who has since been barred by our security man from coming into our club be raising a compromising allegation such as this?

6. Since then, the Bank has further beefed up its security, and will continue to assure its usual patrons to disregard the allegation.

 Signed:

A. A ( Publicity Secretary)
The Bank.

Shun violence

Most times when we walk into big malls, boutiques, supermarkets, we never question their prices. We pay exactly what we see on the price tags and even hand out tips to the staff.
But the moment we are out of these shops and want to buy banana, our bargaining game gets off to the roof. Poor widow with 12 hungry children at home tells you banana is N100. She even takes out her time to explain how difficult it was for her to even buy it, how the economy is so tough.
But we insist that if it's not N50, we are not paying. Some of us even step back into our cars and make to drive away. But because 'half bread is better chin chin', this woman is forced to call you back and sell to you at little or no gain. In her heart, she cries, she's worried about how she'll survive with her children. She silently reassures herself that 'It's well.
God will definitely provide.'' While you happily chop the luscious banana. Take some seconds out and think about this, guys. Please don't bargain hard with small vendors like this. They do business not to buy designer bags, Gucci shoes but to LIVE and EAT!

The Bank should have ignored that idiot. What's really his own? He should get a life and stop taking Panadol for another person'd headache.

Honestly , that dude messed up. I was at the club. He was very drunk. I think he was in another club before.

Useless nightclub. Not only do they beat customers, they also beat and maltreat the staff that work for them. Una cup go soon full. Bastards!

I think we need to change our lifestyle generally in this country. You can always avoid trouble when you avoid certain things. How on earth will you go and hit a lady on the butt? It's clearly a case of sexual harassment, and any guy could be angry about that.

Lol.
Lol lol.

Wen a thug like Uyi is running a nightclub, what do you expect? They will keep breakin una head. Keep going to the bank o. Anythin dey do to you na your fault.

First off, The Bank Abuja, you need to fire your publicity secretary! Goodness! He just made your release seem childish. Good call not signing off with his full names. I suspect Alex though. Lol. I was laughing all through the few parts that were coherent. It was almost all gibberish.
Secondly, your need to fire him TODAY!
Thirdly, contact me on kwulonmanma@gmail.com

Lol...this dude no get mouth at all. Your fellow man did this to you and you are talking about the club? What has the club got to do with this? More shamefully is that the guy rushed to the media to talk about it. This sounds very funny.

I wonder when Nigerians will get civilized. What has the club got to do with this story? I'm still wondering though. That 2 fought? I think the accuser has an ulterior motive.

Anonymous said...

I think I kind of like their response. Very mature and straight to the point. I think to be objective is to advise the victim to iron out the matter with the dude and not the club owners. They have no question to answer.

So it's obviously not rumor then..... it happened @ the said night club. So who is trying to tweets stories here?
Mwhl, Mr Rex 's head looks like a white man's head or is he one of "just got init guys?
I wish you quick recovery Mr Rex n to Mr A.A, pls is that your full name or street name?

Fuck the bank!!!

This is clearly a more coherent rebuttal. I think people should learn from this. You can't hold a club responsible for your irresponsible behaviour. It won't work. Check your facts.

Who do we believe now?

90 per cent of Nigerians do not know how to treat a woman. People keep ignoring one assault or the other. I think the Club did well by ignoring the main issue and defending their non-involvement. That's best for business like Triple H will say.

Na waoh...I'm kind of confused about this. Wetin concern the club and the fight? Two people fought in a club, then club is blamed for it? Na waoh...

Goodnyt Mr Rex. The money you paid me to make horrible comment was too small, so I don tire jor... I dey try defend you by taking on the writer as there is really nothing to talk about.

Anonymous said...

They shouldn't have published this rubbish...proof positive it happened in the club but OFCOURSE they'll try to cover up. Oga Rex just be careful next time.

I knw THE BANK so very well.even if they are trying to protect their image, the way they handled their problem is perfect and I don't think that so called Mr Rex's friend forged the story.how can u walk into a club and hit a gurl mistakenly then she tells her man friend to hit u with a bottle.(Within gurls dey do for club, definitely a guys hand is going to touch u one way or another, its a club)I don't think Mr REx's friend was saying d truth.

The bank club is very useless and I believe what that guy wrote, I was there on Friday 31st to have a nice time with my friends, at about 2am, they sprayed gas which made people start chocking and grasping for breath, every one left the club instantly, a friend of mine almost died because she was asthmatic.

They are guilty if not why is the story signed by a person with initials only A.A and why does the organisation have a publicity secretary not an officer is it an association. They obviously just came up with this silly retort to clean up issues rather than calling for settlement. Next time get a crisis management firm to clean your mess.
