Maybe, if I were Dangote's daughter, but for me, NO!
I think there re better things to do with money than wasting it on a trend, cos trends come and go. And this bag, is just a trend.

Anonymous said...

First of all, NO!! Secondly, I'm not a society lady or a Nollywood starlet! Thirdly, I'm concerned about making Heaven...

For ordinary made-in China bag? NOOOOOOO.Na only the name 'Hermes' dem dey sell nah. Ok, with $18,000 I can buy a piece of land in my village&build a modest 3bedroom bungalow on it...that would be an asset& its value appreciates over the years. With an ordinary bag, it's value depreciates over time&what is in vogue in 2013 maybe a piece of trash in 2015.I can as well give the money up to charity organizations.
I can't buy such a bag..NOOOOOO.Just my two cents.
I can't buy

No matter how rich i become, there are somethings i can never lavish money on and top on the list is Fashion/Trend. Akisa lasan ni gbogbo e!

If i have surplus i'd rather invest in proper education of poor children so they too can become someone in life.

If you are secure in who you are then you don't need the latest bag, latest shoe or latest car to feel important.

Before you spend money anyhow, remember that someone in LUTH might be dying just because of N5,000!

NO, AND DONT ASK ME WHY NOT CUZ ITS VERY UNNECSSARY TO SPEND SOOOOOOOO MUCH ON SUMTIN DATS NOT RELEVANT AND WONT BENEFIT ANY1 NOT EVEN D CARRIER. U CUD USE DAT MONEY 4 A HSE, CAR, KIDS SCH FEES ETC. NOT JUST 1 BAG,C'MON!!!

That's not a bag, that's a Birkin. And a Birkin is a timeless fashion piece. Birkins cost range from $10,000 - $100,000. So have in mind people spend way more.

Birkin, firking, whatever, I won't. Besides getting the house/car/medical treatment that I so badly need, You can feed hungry people or send some kids to school for a year or something worthwhile.
Shoot, you could die in a car accident on the way home after getting the dirkin, so why spend on something so much that you won't use in the afterlife?

Linda i dont think that question is worth throwing
if you can carry such purse then u must be folorunsho alakija or a thieving politican, u must be living in ur own house and the car wey u dey drive na one hell bad car.
u'll no carry that hermes and go jump oshodi oshodi or dey flag down yellow cab
oh yes i love bags but 2.5 milla OMG is everyone n my family so rich that no one wl need that money for something? or all d less privileged homes r filled that they will not need some?
thats why i smh when i see girls carry hermes knock-offs, belong by force!

too common... both fake and authentic.... if im in the income bracket to spend this kind of money on bags, i think that i would have my own style, and not follow the crowd style... there are numerous exclusive designer lines with the same price point as hermes... but much more exclusive..... you will not see girls shopping in balogun carrying your type of bag! SO NO I would not but this bag!

Bloomandgrownaija said...

Well, why not. So far I earn way more then that and I do my bid to charity. I would have probably said no but since I started working and earning income, stuff like that don't matter. Its a matter of checks and balances

Y'all saying its madness to buy such an expensive bag should just shush it. Truth is, if you had the money, you would all buy it. As long as u buy a bag above 10k when ppl can barely afford to eat for a day is d same way u see this as madness.....10k means a lot to some very poor ppl so its d same thing my dears.

Remember that to some people it's like buying just another bag. Like for you how it is to buy blackberry instead of nokia 3310, or to live in 3 bedroom instead of boys quaters face me I face you. Water has its levels.
As long as your spending isn't hurting anyone (I.e your money is not embezzled or stolen or 419), then why not?

INCIDENTALLY THE LEATHER USED FOR MAKING THIS BAG MOST LIKELY COMES FROM "THE NIGERIAN DWARF GOAT" AFTER CELEBRATING WITH THE BEEF IN EUROPE, THE HIDE UNDERGOES SOME CURING, TREATMENT AND TANNING AND A FEW EXPERT CUTS, STICTCHES AND RIVETS LATER THEY ATTACH A HERMES LABEL TO IT AND AN $18K PRICE TAG.

BUYING IT AT THIS PRICE SHOULD NOT REALLY BE WITHIN THE REALM OF CONSIDERATION FOR A NIGERIAN AT THIS STAGE OF OUR DEVELOPMENT AS A NATION REGARDLESS OF EVEN IF YOUR NET WORTH IS INFINITY.

ADD SOME VALUE TO LOCAL CONTENT FOR GOD'S SAKE YOU GUYS. ALL WE HEAR IS PEOPLE DISSING ABA.

All of you saying you can't blah blah blah, it's not an investment, then you really don't know what a birkin bag is. If you have the money and you are comfortable you won't think twice. I got one for 14k dollars, used it for a month, saw another color I liked and I was able to dispose it for 16k. How many investment can give you 2k dollars return in a month! Not even the rent on d so called one bedroom you buy in ajegunle ( cos that's probably the only place u can buy a one bed at 2.8m in naija)! Beg God to take poverty out of ur life instead of condemning others!

Anonymous said...

Sometimes in life, you need to get to a certain level to understand somethings....to be frank $18, 000 (about N2.8million)will not be that much to spend on a bag for super stars or some billionaires especially those in the international levels....so it depends on the level..but for an average Nigerian it isnt possible.

i always say something: we are limited by our current worth. If you have excess of 48 million naira in monthly revenue, buying a 2 million naira bag would really mean nothing to you... Most of you screaming foul now would even do worse things! Money is like a drug, it makes you high when you have it in abundance, and depressed when u dont have it. And when you are high on money, there's almost no limit to the things you would do

That is why ALMIGHTY GOD will not allow you become FIRST LADY of any state because you would have been going in there with only one thing in mind - ripping the masses. You REALLY SHOULD BE ASHAMED OF YOUR OBNOXIOUS GREED. Tomorrow you would join a conversation about Nigeria not moving forward and leaders being corrupt BUT hear just what your thiefing heart is already conjuring up, should Nigerians be any more unfortunate to here one more ignoramus like you office who thinks the State's treasury is for Your personal use. Disgrace! I say "Amen" to my prayer for you because you are bad news as far as that office is concerned.

It's a bag made by human hands, which means it could still spoil someday, the leather could peel or scratch, it Could get stolen, smudged with baby vomit, ink stain.. Etc.. So I'd rather invest the money in a house, land or better still. A vacation which I'l have the memories for ever....." Wink"
