Former CBN governor Sanusi Lamido Sanusi has been named the new Emir of Kano contrary to earlier reports that the late Emir's eldest son Sanusi Ado Bayero, had been named the new Emir. The announcement was made this evening Sunday June 8th by the Secetary to the Kano state Government, Rabiu Zakariya

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi can only become Emir by the authorization of governor KwanKwaso. A democratically elected governor of a state can elect and unseat any religious leader within his jurisdiction. The president is in a much more superior position than the Emir. Nigerians should stop dragging the presidency to ridicule even when it is totally uncalled for. The president will only visit Sanusi Lamido Sanusi if and only when he chooses. And if he chooses only to shake hands with the Emir, then that will be the case. Yes president Goodluck Jonathan might have failed in some quarters doesn't mean we should always seize every opportunity to reduce him to unnecessary ridicule - Etcetera.
