Anony 12:14P.M, you have to be proud of your culture. And I guess from your statement you a yoruba person. Well, I think there is nothing wrong if the symbol of "Oduduwa" was used in the plaque it truly represents our root as yorubas. For me, the organizers just need to improve on the quality of the organization, stage set-up, amongst others. Congratulations to all the winners and most especially my best yoruba actor, Sanyeri (can't remeber his full name).

Sorry but the award title sounds creepy n funny....and why is the award looking like the lost staff of ogun? The pictures look razz too. Who are the organizers? They should work harder

Anonymous said...

Question: why?
Answer: it's called heritage and tradition. Stupid. In future, please use your hidden unconscious mind to figure things out first bf spewing out rubbish.

Unknown said...

Pa Lere Paimo I love him he reminds me of my late grandpa.....may his soul continue to rest in peace...xxx Mad lloovw

Unknown said...

When you leave out certain details that's what you get, most male actors in the pictures above especially Odunade and Saidi Balogun earned more than the English speaking actors, the organisers FAILED woefully on what should have been a great moment in the movie industry. As a yoruba man I take exception to been labelled RAZZ please. Adeyemi....

I guess this is like a maiden edition and beginings are not usually easy. So LIBers, let's give 'em some credit for the initiative at least. Am Igbo and I have not seen Igbo Magic let alone movie award series, so all Igbos here should sharply seal up.

I see a lot of ignorant comments here. They look so Yorubaish..what do you want them to look like?Russians? And why do so many Ibo people have problems with Yoruba? can't you just make a comment without bringing tribe into it? We all Nigerians aren't we?Somone also complained about the statue..it looks like Ogun..well Ogun is a yoruba God isn't it? Why can't we be proud of our own culture? why must we always copy foreigners? In South America,Asia,Europe they study Yoruba culture..its the most popular culture in the world.but Nigerians don't appreciate.SMH.and by the way im from Rivers..married to a Yoruba

So you guys want them to wear suits and tie abi, the award is called yoruba award not any other awards, this are things people want to see not a wannabes. Looks or the way the award look like doesn't matter but the recognition . But wait all u critic what have u done lately that deserves an award, even on from your street, work or school.

Anonymous said...

They just dey fall person hand...everything looks dirty! which kain award be that? ugh!

Anonymous said...

Association of skin bleachers. They will always bleach their skins dang

JO said...

This is the first yoruba movie awards I know of. If that's the case, its ok and there is room for improvement. Yoruba movies are actually interesting, its high time they got recognition they deserve. Kudos.

Unknown said...

Did you see Kim K's attire on the red carpet? very revealing... mcheww

Anonymous said...

All This yarouba thing self. christy

Anonymous said...

I'm Yoruba and I just have to say this even it does not count. I wonder many times why my people are not being invited to red carpets event but d answer is not far fetched. Complex. If u have been acting for so long and u still cannot brush up to be able to represent, it's sad. How many English actors really have a degree to their name? Yet dy develop themselves over the years. I look at Pasuma. Is he educated? But he can mingle well bc he is brushing up and upgrading himself. These pple need talking to seriously. They are indeed local in their ways. No one is saying don't wear Ankara, but u can stand out in it. Brush up guys! Even d educated ones are now looking razz. Hmm

Anonymous said...

This is really commendable.. Never mind the Goats who may think it is razz and bla bla... definately they are the problems of this country. May be they need to be told that Rome or Paris was never built. in a day.

For me.. it is nice and commendable. Anytime Anyday..Yoruba's are pace setters...#farts and walks away!

N ARE THOSE REALY OBESERE's KNUCKLES OR ITS JST ME

Anonymous said...

I don't know why these our Yoruba movies practitioners, like they call themselves would not just move with the trend. They can fall my hand. At this age, where things are moving fast, they're still there doing their things in 'slow-motion'. Still proudly Yoruba though but the truth must be told. We have educated, ssocialites, 'soji', people, but the crazy politics in ANTP would not give room for the right people to come in.

Great minds discuss issue and ideas...feable minds discuss persons and trivialities. Whether Igbos, Yorubas or Edos, l love them all. We are terrible set of human beings. We attack our own tribes for no reasons and make terrible comments about them....Nigeria is such a country where love is lacking and that is why we are where we are today. We don't appreciate what we've got. Oh my goodness, there is no oness in this country, it is always full of hatred, rancour and acrimony. Nigeria has a long way to go ooo.....l weep for this country.

IBO people why the hate? I have never seen an Igbo magic, no Igbo movie, Igbo people already lost their own culture to europe they only copy Americans. Let there be an Igbo movie awards now; abi. FYI Yoruba actors are the richest, they don't flaunt it unlike your broke ass (so called) English/Igbo actors.

It is really nice that respondents here find the time to critique the Yoruba theater Practitioners. It's a welcome distraction from all our ills in Nigeria. It is however one's hope that the Igbo blogger/owner of this site harbors no malicious intent. It would be expedient to remind her that traffic to her blog is not a one way track from Nnewi or Onitsha. Matter of fact, Yoruba viewers on this site help in no small measure to contribute to that big mansion for Daddy in the village, and the tickets on which the blogger junkets over the world. Issues of ethnicity and culture in Nigeria can be a hot potato hence some common sense is called for. #justtellingthetruthtoLinda#
