The students arrested are: Ogunsanyo Abayomi (the roommate), Obi Mnaetochi Brendan Ilozumba, Oti Uchechukwu Chijooke, Jimoh Oluwatobiloba Timileyin and Isaac Ifidon (all pictured above).
It is believed that Ayogu was killed over money on the school campus. His body, with legs and hands tied, throat slit and intestines gushing out (last pic right), was then dumped at Amamoma on the outskirts of the university.
His cause of death after a post-mortem examination, was given as stab wounds to the heart. Continue
The Homicide Unit of the Police Criminal Investigations Department, Headquarters, Accra said after investigation, what they found out was that Ayogu's roommate, Ogunsanyo borrowed money from him to pay his school fees. But instead of paying back when he promised, he traveled to the UK, promising to pay back when he returned.
When he returned, instead of paying back, he moved out of the campus room he shared with Ayogu and rented a two-bedroom apartment outside the campus. Ayogu took the matter to other Nigerians who are students of the school, asking them to talk to Ogunsanyo to return his money.
Ayogu was last seen alive on February 18th. He was seen in the company of another friend of his named Oluwatobiloba. The two had gone to Ogunsanyo's apartment to demand Ayogu's money, in the course of which a scuffle ensued between Ayogu and Ogunsanyo.
The next morning Ayogu’s body was discovered.
All five students disappeared from campus as soon as Ayogu's body was discovered. But through thorough investigations, police were able to find out what happened and arrested all five as soon as they resurfaced on campus
Ghanaian police said the suspects are assisting them in their investigations.

His parents should take solace in the fact that they raised a decent young man, and although he lost his life, he did so only because he did good to someone else. My heart goes out to his family and loved ones.

It was a joint investigation by the BNI of the Ghana police, the Nigerian high commission in Ghana, the Nigerian Police, the parent of the deceased and a couple of stuidents on UCC campus most of whom are Nigerian. I know all five boys and I was shocked to hear of the role they all played in the boy's murder. It was Nigerian friends on campus who tipped the police of the involvement of da five. Apparntly Godwin had told them of the issue before he was killed. And to add to it the boys have confirmed to killing Godwin. While the nigerian authorities in Ghana as well as the boy's dad have expressed satisfaction at the work done some of you who do not have the slightest idea about what happened are here calling Ghanaian authorities names. Shame on you all you who say the BNI is twisting evidence agaisnt nigerians. You should speak to nigerians on ucc campus and you will get a full version of all that has happened so far. What would the Ghana police get out of accusing innocent boys? If they can study in another country then their parents should have the means to procure proper legal representation for them and let due process take place.
Ghana isn't perfect, no country is, but I see no benefit to their legal system to frame these boys. It is easy for the truth to come out, with them all separated, and in separate rooms being interrogated someone will talk, and the police will match up stories to know who is telling the truth and who is lying. All they have to do is get a hold of the young man's cellphone, or email and they will surely see more indication of what these men have confessed to. Search the phones and their emails and the truth will spring forth.

What is The Nigerian commission in Ghana doing to protect its citizen from unlawful detention, trail black mail and persecution? Nothing should happen to any of these Children been locked up. They should not die or go missing. The whole world is watching.
