Lagos Countdown 2013

Preparations for the 2013 Lagos Countdown event has commenced.  Lagos State Signage and Advertisement Agency (LASAA) organizers of the event announced that the Lagos Countdown, a world-class celebration of the end of one year and the beginning of another in Lagos State will hold like last year.

Conceived by the State Governor Mr. Babatunde Fashola (SAN), in order to put Lagos on the global map and at per with top cities such as New York, Dubai, London, Sydney, and other major destinations that commemorate the cross over into the new year. Continue...

Venue for the event Just like last year, is the Bar Beach stretch, Victoria Island and will commence on 7th of December 2013 and culminate on the 1st of January 2014 with an official countdown into the new year.

Speaking on the event the Managing Director of LASAA Mr George Noah stressed that the Lagos countdown is about instituting an enduring crossover tradition, commerce, employment generation, leisure, entertainment and tourism. ‘’What LASAA is doing on behalf of the state government is leveraging the proposition of Lagos as a premium destination for business and leisure,” Noah said.
The 2013 event promises to be more exciting, with the parade of over top 40 Nigerian artists including TuFaceIdibia, Davido, Omawunmi, Bracket, J Martins, Morell, Duncan Mighty, Timaya,  Wizkid, Banky W, Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal, D’Prince, MI, Ice Prince, Burna Boy and Iyanya.
This event is arguably the biggest New Year's Eve celebration in Africa. Last year, the Lagos countdown had a 45 minute display of fireworks, the most spectacular ever seen in Nigeria. The 2012 Lagos Countdown was hosted by IkponmwosaOsakioduwa, also known as IK  with co-hosts AriyikeAkinbobola and Quest.

The Lagos Countdown provides branding opportunities for sponsor companies. It is expected that the following companies will sponsor this year’s event: Nigerian Breweries, GT Bank, Dangote, Avenue suites.

My 1st impression was that a LASG event will be tacky until i read again that the organizers are LASAA. they are only arm of the LASG that seem to be organised with young and vibrant employees but then again, what does LASAA have to do with organizing such an event? last i checked, they are into outdoor advertising regulation. my own is they should bring chris brown. eko oni baje o

The 1st time i read this post, i wasnt interested for the fact that its a LASG event until i read it again and realised that its LASAA that its organizing it on their behalf. they seem to be the only arm of LASG that is organised with young and vibrant staff but then again what do they have to do with setting up an event? last i checked they regulate outdoor signage.well, lets see how it pans out, my own is they should bring chris brown...
