Read the national broadcast by Pres. Jonathan on the 2015 election

President Jonathan this morning addressed the nation in a TV broadcast where he called on everyone to come out en-mass to vote for leaders of their choice. What he said below...
Dear Compatriots,
1. As we prepare to go to the polls tomorrow, I have come before you this morning to express my immense appreciation for the opportunity you gave me to lead this great nation of ours in the past four years.

2.           I also wish to place on record, once again, my sincere gratitude for the support you have given my administration without which the significant progress we have made in recent years would not have been possible.

3.           In spite of the many challenges we have had to contend with since 1999, our present democratic dispensation continues to endure and grow stronger in keeping with the yearnings and aspirations of our people.

4.           We have all worked very hard to nurture and strengthen our democratic institutions and promote the good governance practices which they were designed to deliver for the better well-being of  our people.

5.           I believe I can say without fear of contradiction that we all clearly cherish the democracy we now have and will never willingly give it up for any other form of governance.

6.           This much-cherished democracy of ours is about to be put to the test once again.

7.           I urge you all to troop out en-masse to peacefully perform your civic duty of voting for leaders of your choice tomorrow.

8.          As we do so, let us all - political party leaders, contestants, party members, party agents, supporters and ordinary voters alike, be very conscious of the fact that the eyes of the entire world are on us.

9.           We must therefore comport ourselves in a manner that will further strengthen our democracy and consolidate our place in the comity of truly democratic nations.

10.       I made a commitment on assumption of office to progressively deliver freer, fairer and more credible elections in our country. In keeping with that commitment, the Federal Government has given the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) all necessary support to ensure that it conducts very successful elections tomorrow and on April 11.

11.        We have all been assured that INEC is fully ready for the elections. I believe that we can all trust that they are certainly more ready now than they may have been before security issues and other concerns necessitated a re-scheduling of the dates for the 2015 general elections.

12.       As an administration, we welcome the fact that millions of Nigerians who were yet to receive their Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) as at February 14, and would therefore have been unfairly disenfranchised if the polls had gone ahead  on that date, have seized the opportunity of the re-scheduling to collect their cards and can now exercise their right to vote tomorrow.

13.       We are also glad that our gallant Armed Forces have successfully stemmed the seizure of Nigerian territories in the North-East by the terrorist group, Boko Haram.

14.       They have recaptured most of the communities and territories formerly occupied by the insurgents, making it possible for thousands of internally-displaced Nigerians to begin returning to their homes and communities.

15.       I heartily commend the very courageous men and women of our Armed Forces for the immense sacrifices which they continue to make in defending the nation and protecting its citizens.

16.       I also thank all Nigerians for keeping faith with us over the past six weeks.

17.       I call on all political parties and politicians in the country to allow the free, unfettered will of our people to be expressed without any hindrance in the coming elections in keeping with the hallowed principles and tenets of democratic governance which we all profess.

18.      The will of the people freely expressed through the ballot is the bedrock of all democracies and ours cannot be an exception.

19.       Let us all therefore be prepared, as true democrats, to graciously accept the outcome of the elections as the rightful choice of our people from whom all political powers in our democracy must emanate.

20.     My administration has done its utmost best in the past four years to deliver on our promise to positively transform our country.

21.       Tomorrow’s election is another very important milestone as we continue our march towards the fulfillment of our God-given potential for greatness.

22.      The election offers us another opportunity to empower leaders of our choice once again, and to show the world that genuine democracy is alive and well in our beloved nation.

23.      I will like to restate my belief that no political ambition can justify violence or the shedding of the blood of our people.

24.      I reaffirm once again, my personal preparedness to ensure fair play during the elections and to deploy the resources and institutions of state only in the manner prescribed by our laws.

25.      Let me warn, however, that as President, Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, I am under oath to protect the lives of all Nigerians and the security of our country at all times. I will never abdicate my responsibilities in that regard.

26.      Democracy allows dissent. It encourages differences and even fervent disagreements. But elections must never be mistaken for war or an opportunity to set fellow citizens against each other and tear our beloved nation apart.

27.       Those who may harbor any intentions of testing our will by unleashing violence during the elections in order to advance their political ambitions should think again as all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure that any persons who breach the peace or cause public disorder during or after the elections are speedily apprehended and summarily dealt with according to our laws.

28.     The nation’s security agencies are also fully prepared and ready to deal decisively with any group or persons who attempt to disrupt the peaceful conduct of the elections or cause any form of public disorder.

29.       Our dear country, Nigeria is the largest democracy amongst black nations of the world. We are a nation of great accomplishments, with a proud history of evolving affinities.

30.     Let us go out tomorrow to vote peacefully and set a fitting example of political maturity for other emerging democracies to follow.

31.       I wish you all and our dear nation, very peaceful and successful elections.

32.      May God Almighty continue to bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

33.      I thank you all.

5 Quotes From Obama That APC Is Very Uncomfortable With

FACEBOOK
TWITTER
EMAIL
The president of the United States, Barack Obama, on Monday March 23, sent a special message to Nigerians regarding the upcoming elections, urging that the voting exercise be carried out peacefully.

President Barack Obama

Here are five quotes from Obama’s message that members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) are very uncomfortable with:

1. “Nigeria is a great nation and you can be proud of the progress you’ve made.”

Obama acknowledges that Nigeria has made tremendous progress that we can be proud of. Listening to the APC’s message you would think that Nigeria is not working, and Obama rightly points out that we have made progress under the present Jonathan administration.

Who would want uncertain change over the chance to keep progressing?

2. “Together, you won your independence, emerged from military rule, and strengthened democratic institutions.”

Read the quote again. Obama says there is no going back to military rule. Do we want to go back to being bound by the shackles of dictatorship? Buhari says he is a “reformed democrat” but as we all know a leopard doesn’t change its spots.

3. “You’ve worked hard to improve the lives of your families and to build the largest economy in Africa.”

Contrary to all the lies that the APC has been trying to sell, our economy is progressing, and it did not become the largest economy in Africa by chance but by the good policies of the Jonathan administration. Obama states this fact whilst acknowledging that the lives of Nigerians have improved, and thereby showing the APC to be liars.

4. “Violence has no place in democratic elections — and that they will not incite, support or engage in any kind of violence — before, during, or after the votes are counted.”

When violence is mentioned, Nigerians cannot extricate General Buhari from his famous statement before the 2011 elections and his famous silence after his supporters went wild. The Blood of Dog and Baboon statement recently made concerning the 2015 elections still echoes deeply. The APC is threatening a parallel government also… Obama’s speech is a clear warning against that.

5. “Boko Haram wants to destroy Nigeria and all that you have worked to build. By casting your ballot, you can help secure your nation’s progress.”

Secure your nation’s progress. Don’t change your fortunes.

Obama’s call on Nigeria to secure our progress is like a call to retain President Jonathan under whose presidency this progress has been achieved. As it is ill advised to change a commander-in-chief during war, Nigerians must fight together and eliminate Boko Haram with the armed forces who are presently winning the war and sustain this momentum.

Obama also said: ”in this task of advancing the security, prosperity, and human rights of all Nigerians, you will continue to have a friend and partner in the United States of America.”

Lest we forget, Nigerians are still much aware of the flagrant violation of human rights under General Buhari, resulting in a rupture in diplomatic relations with the UK and others.

What other areas of this Obama speech do you think the APC is uncomfortable with? Watch below:

President Goodluck Jonathan, must indeed be a very lucky man, above any other personal quality or qualification. I knew about the word 'luck' or 'lucky' as a kid. BUT as i grew up, and went through so many books, i stopped believing in that word. And by the time i went through the whole Scripture, i mean 66 Books of the King James Version of the Holy Bible, without seeing the word 'luck' occur even once - then i expunged that word from my entire psyche. BUT just within 6 weeks of election postponement, i watched a Lucky Man escape the worst electoral defeat ever in African history. Goodluck to you, Mr President. I now believe in luck again !!

WHY BUHARI MUST NOT WIN
I want to ask, if Buhari should win Jonathan, will Buhari's
wife make Nigerians laugh and forget their sorrows like first
lady Dame Patience does? This woman has increased the life
span of an average Nigerian.
Examples of her "award winning speeches" include:
1- * Nigeria is a great CONTINENT.
2- * My husband and Sambo IS good people.
3- * I rather KILL myself than commit SUICIDE.
4- * My fellow widows.
5- * I travelled to abroad to rest in peace.
6- * My husband is the best couple on earth.
7- * The doctors are responding to treatment.
8- * For those who said I speech bad English, I left them for
God.
9- * Ojukwu is dead, but his Manhood still lives on.
10- * Na only you waka come?
11- * Chai ! Chai !! Chai !!! This blood we are "sharing"
12- * diaris God o...
13- * on behave of N2million I donate my family.
14- *To all those who think Goodluck Jonathan has failed, I
have a question for you. When a child fails an exam, isn't the
child supposed to be repeated?
Please support and honour Nigeria first lady by sharing this
with all your contacts
Don't laugh alone. Let us vote Buhari out because His wife
can't make us laugh like first lady Dame Patience
Chei ! Chei !! Chei !!! Dis message "we re reading" "diaris
god o"

Good Morning pal?=D :D =))

Fellow Nigerians, beware of he who seeks you ONLY when he needs you. Stealing your money and returning it to you as a gift.
Ask yourself; if you had lost a relation during the Immigration recruitment and there was no word from Govt until after the elections were rescheduled, will you be happy with this government? Add to that that no one has been punished for it. Does it mean those lives had a cost?
Ask again; if you had lost relations in the NE or in the bomb blasts and the President went dancing in Kano, will you support this government?
The change we seek is really not about voting Buhari in but about voting Jonathan out. In 2019, we (25-45) can then begin to work on being fully involved in decision making because we would have demystified the incumbency factor.
May God bless Nigeria.

Our Itshekiri brethren, listen.

We wish President Jonathan a safe journey to the launch of the Delta Gas Park at Ogidigben. Devoid of the overwhelming dishonesty attached to even seemingly good initiatives, we should be applauding this development. Unfortunately, we are unable to do this due to the deepening of extant cleavages between hitherto good neighbours/communities solely for sectional/ethnic interests. Or how else do we explain the ongoing move by a company linked to ex-Ijaw warlord, known as Tompolo to get NNPC to cede the planned gas project to it to finance and manage. This was the agenda at a meeting held at the NNPC offices on Monday March 16, 2015 with the Group Executive Director, Gas & Power; Dr. David Ige in attendance, along with some officers of his division. We await a denial of the above, as is usual of them, before we supply minutes of the said meeting.

THE PEACE OF WAR
Fellow Nigerians!
We do not envisage an end to this victory. We are determined not only to win the election war but win peace that I know. Fellow Nigerians, plans must be prepared in advance, actions must be taken now, if the end of the on-going elections is not to find us unprepared. The problems of peace cannot be solved by one political party or the other, the plans of a post-election NIGERIANS must be fitted into the plans of a post-election NIGERIA, for this fight is not just a fight between political parties, it is a fight for the future civilisation of our milieu, its results will affect the lives of all men, women and students alike, not only those now engaged in the struggle.
It is certain that until the crushing burdens of tyrannical armaments throughout Nigeria is lifted from the back of the people; we all cannot enjoy the maximum social being which is possible. We cannot build the Nigeria of our desire under the constant menace of aggression, nepotism, austerity, corruption and militarization. Freedom from fear and freedom from want must be sought together. The joint expression of aims common to APC, PDP and other political parties known as either change or continuity, which we are not to be left out, includes not only the purposes covering the elections but outlines of more distant objectives. It binds us to endeavour with due respect to our existing obligations to further the enjoyments by all quarters – great and small.
Nigeria as a whole must pray to God that he may assist and direct us in our quest for prosperity, lasting peace and maintenance of it. I believe Nigerians are conscious of having always fulfilled all our obligations in hard times like this. We must now make needed sacrifices compatible with our honour and dignity to pursue and assure a peaceful solution to the forth coming polls.
It is crystal clear that both parties deprecated war (government and the subjects), but the government make this war rather than let the nation survive, and we all must accept it rather than let it perish, and the war is here, fondly do we hope, fervently do we pray that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away.
There is more involved in this contest than is realised by everyone, this question is involved in this struggle, can the future enjoy the privileges we have enjoyed; as we can ask those in power do we enjoy what they enjoyed and still enjoying.
I believe the dogmas of the quiet past, are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is anew we must think anew, and act anew, we must dis-enthrall ourselves and then we shall save our prestigious Nigeria. If all do not join now to save the good old ship of this country this voyage nobody will have a chance to pilot her on another voyage. Arise NIGERIANS, let’s fight for our right, let’s fight for peace and let’s do it with our votes as “to sin by silence when they should speak makes traitors and cowards of men”. Remember Franz Fanon once said “every generation out of relative obscurity have in her palms her destiny either to fulfill or betray it”. No significance of our actions or inaction will save us from the verdict of history, we all owe posterity an historic duty to liberate Nigeria.
Michael Omisore.

MEMO TO ALL GEJ SUPPORTERS

I beg your indulgence to do this:

If you can honestly from the bottom of your heart answer a big Amen to this prayer below, by all means, go out and vote for GEJ.

Prayer: I wish you, your family and loved ones, all the "things" GEJ has brought upon Nigeria in good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over. And so shall it be.

N.B: This election is much more about GEJ/Buhari, I am not expecting a miracle/transformation over night. It is about voting out GEJ to give another person a chance. The sooner it is realized that the election is about voting in #ANYBODYBUTGEJ the better. To show how desperate most people what GEJ out, even if Abacha resurrects and is put up against GEJ, I bet you, he will be preferred over GEJ. Buhari just happens to be GEJ opponent, anybody APC had produced would also have been accepted. Nigeria desperately needs to be sanitized from the filth of corruption which it's been plagued with and only after that, can progress begin. Buhari has an unbeaten record of anti-corruption and so we should give him a chance. If the only negative thing PDP and his cohort have against Buhari is old age, his health, religion and certificate, then they have no case because what makes a good leader is integrity, experience and maturity. That is why, when one wants advice, they go look for an elder with wealth of experience and not a PhD holder and a youth. Whatever religion you practice, even if you are not religious, unity and loving your neighbor is usually the right thing to do. Discriminating another person over their age, educational acquisition, health status and religion is wrong on any level.

As per the election tomorrow, I leave you to your conscience because whoever you decide to vote, posterity will judge you. Think long term for Nigeria if you genuinely love her as a nation and not the temporary spoils handed out to you.

It is amazing how many NIgerians are easily manipulated by words. Mumu, jonadaft has robbed you dry and stolen your children's future and you are still hailing him. You don't have the standard to measure Nigeria by anymore. This is not how a NATION is run. You need to expose yourselves and see how it is done in other countries. NIGERIA is in shambles and the people that are meant to serve you have taken advantage of you. Vote for something different and new a change.

Baba'Doje said...

Linda omoale, you dey post GEJ's supporters messages only, forgetting say na all of us GOD dey use to prosper your Mumu self to make you the person you are today. Have you forgotten what @MrAyeDee another PDP supporter did to you? GOD go shame all of you after this presido election.

And you fools actually believe Jonathan the dumb corrupt illiterate drunkard wrote that speech? Ever seen him give a speech without reading from a piece of paper? Anyone voting Jonathan is a fool for life. The guy spent 5 years ruining your economy and making only him and his allies stupendously wealthy. Be wise, you fools.

Voting gej into another 4 years of power is like upscaling the current transition of solid agony on the surface of nation. Ideally, people fear change but guess what, change is all we need to make things better, to normalise our situation and ensure perpetual improvement. Obama in his first term of 4yrs changed a whole lot in the US, what's gej achievement in 6yrs? Let's ask ourselves if our education, infrastructure, security, unemployment etc, have improved. The answer is NO!!.. The future is in the hands of we youths to ensure we will NOT be deceived again and act wifely, a couple of hours will determine our faith. Say no to our defeats.... CHANGE IS ALL WE NEED PEOPLE#

U re a bad luck to Nigeria. U must go. Is Buhari we want, all Nigerians vote for #change! They said Buhari will take us back if elected President! Nigerians say it's a good decision to go back when you've lost your way on a 16yrs PDP journey where our destination as a nation is no longer visible. Please, Buhari, take us back to the era where:1. One Dollar was less than one Naira. It is incredible today!2. Everything was on first come first serve basis.3. There was zero tolerance for corruption.4. Oil refineries in PortHarcourt, Warri & Kaduna were built & running at full capacity.5. Anybody with questionable wealth was afraid to display it in public. 6. There was Zero tolerance for indiscipline. Everything was in order7. Nigeria had no debt at all.8. Neglecting your children was a crime9. Littering the public place was a crime10. Twenty oil depots were built and functioning.11 Western world can't interfere into our nation.12. Chad invaded Nigeria, we sent them packing but did not harness their Land13. Our economy was NOT running on generator14. We can sleep with our eyes closed because we were secured.15. Countries like Indonesia and Malaysia need not to set example on how to deal with drug pushers. 16. The Maitaseine Islamic Sect insurgency in the North was crushed on record time. 17. We want those days when Buhari was a military Governor but did not amass illegal wealth. 18. We want those days when Buhari was a Minister of Petroleum but did not hire a private jet for N10 billion. 19. We want those days when Buhari was a Head of State but did not loot the Treasury. 20. We want those days when Buhari was Head of PTF but did not steal the Fund even in the days of Abacha when stealing was the order of the day. Pls, Buhari & Osinbajo, take us BACK! We can't afford another 4yrs of waste in the hands of PDP!!! Take us BACK to the good old days of this our great nation. #havedecided to vote for #change

Global opinions have it that Jonathan is one of the worst presidents in the history of mankind. One U.S. Dollar is now 220 naira. 200 precious school girls are still missing. More than 10, 000 lives (preventable deaths) have been wasted for nothing. God is not an author of confusion. It is His will that Jonathan MUST go.

Insults and abuses do not hold sway or any form of power especially when people have made up their minds about which way to go. It only helps to expend your energy and shorten your life span.

Anonymous said...

B4 u open ur mouth and alter rubbish , ask people who witnessed buhari's rule in 1983 if Nigeria was better, read his profile on wikipedia, do ur research, don't jump from frying pan to fire bcus you expect a president to magically transform ur life...... GEJ may not have been d best, but He is still our leader at least 4 now, if u don't have leadership prospects at least just respect his office. The guy gave a simple speech and u rain abuses on him, do to others what u will have them do to you..... The future is deep, U'll reap what u sow....

GEJ till 2019

I like how all GEJ supporters are so peaceful and all Buhari supporters are so aggressive, rude in their comments. Let's just vote whoever we want in peace. GEJ is still president so you don't need to insult him for a general speech he made. peace to naija.

Anonymous said...

All GEJ supporters are either blind, deaf, fools or all of d above, cos even a baby born into dis country is complaining.

Unknown said...

I still see GEJ doing something for Nigeria. For Nigeria to be South Africa and other African countries means we r progressing. It May looks bad but blv it will get better

Unknown said...

Pls shut ur mouth. Cause the Economy is not perfect in any other country in Africa but urs is best in Africa

Anonymous said...

You see how stupid and daft u are irabo or rabies what ever stupid name u answer. Can u see all d post u mentioned that have been held by buhari and u think in your olodo head that its not enough for him. People have been president without doing half of what GEJ did in 4yrs. You think the change u want(which I doubt if u know what change means) will be provided by buhari? I pity you bcuz if by mistake buhari wins you are your family will be d first that will be led to d sluter house.
