There were reports last week that actress Ruth Kadiri got a Range Rover SUV from her man after she shared pictures of the ride on her instagram page. But Ruth, reacting through her rep told LIB this is not true.
‘Ruth bought the Range herself. Check out the list of young actresses in the industry, none has the repertoire of work as much as Ruth. She is about the only actress busy in both ‘old and ‘new’ Nollywood, she has been consistently generating income and ploughing her money back into the business of film making and other business ventures. She has financed two movies of her own; her movie, Plantain Girls was the first Nollywood movie on African Magic Box Office. It is high time we stop crediting every success of young, hard working ladies to men. So sorry, if I have to say this, girls are not dumb or second class citizens that will always have to wait for ‘left-over’ from men before they can have decent ‘living’ of sort.

Why can't you just be happy for her. Most of the comments I see here are why girls no longer believe it's possible to stand on their own two feet. We need to be proud of girls that work hard , that's the only way to teach our girls that there's dignity and respect in hard work. Ladies let's show the younger ones that it's possible to be a boss-lady without a dime from any man; this will also encourage them to guard their dignity and womanhood very jealously, as well as command respect from their male counterparts. I am a married physician with one child (also most of my friends are established and married as well) so know that I what am talking about and I do have credibility on this point. Ladies marriage/relationship is not a business transaction; a man will respect you more when you bring something to the table, contribute to building your home, not being a liability.
If most of you are honest with yourselves, and pull your heads it of your behinds, you will admit that your mother contributes more financially (well except if your father is a politician or some business tycoon).
We need to encourage girls to use their brain and work hard so they can be an asset to their homes and husbands. Just like a man can work and make money, so can a woman work and make money, so to #golddigger, money is not sexually transmitted so your man's money is not yours... there's more respect in being a boss-lady without aristo contribution!
