I am curious to know what the big deal is with the 91k bill?

Public official or not, as the head of SEC she is entitled to spend even much more than that entertaining guests. And yes, as a top government official she is expected to entertain guests regularly

It is only poor pple (yes, poor hungry Nigerians) that will make a big deal out of inconsequential things like a $600 food bill of a top government official.

91k not so bad -
but it goes to show
how expensive things are.
For London, a decent three course meal goes for 20/30pounds - although you still can get 71pound for steaks o. (But that is the exception) But for even 10 people, at 300pounds - You come to about 75,000 naira. Now I am not sure Madame Oteh went to that restaurant with 10people.
I guess its a general trend globally. Things are just getting too expensive.
There used to be this joke my uncle used to crack in the early 90s, that by the time we grew up, a tin of milk would be 50,000naira. Looks like we are headed there...

Ur a mumu oo

Anonymous said...

Oh pulease...91k is very sensible 4 a meal at transcorp Hilton esp wen she OBVIOUSLY has guests. Des hotels charge double but omoh dat cray cost ooo. D ppl dat ate d food have taste. Dey ordered evrything I wud hav orded. I was in transcorp visiting a so-called friend. I invited my frnd and we had dinner worth abt 35k. We chop d guy's money plenty and it was only 2 of us. Wat wud u den say abt a govt official and guests? Abeg d money sounds reasonable 2 me jare. Lobster sounds yummy in my tummy.

Anonymous said...

Forget about the bill being incurred. What manner of prices does the hotel have?

I mean, seriously , those items can be procured and cooked at a five star restaurant in NYC for half this price.

Maxy Emerald said...

I don't know why this should be an issue, the hotel is at liberty to make their charges, it is not the duty of Oteh and his friends to haggle over the price. I do more than this on Belvedere Vodka every other friday at likwids.

Anonymous said...

Hmmmmm

Anonymous said...

Please people get real 91k for eight people for a woman at her level?
Question is can she afford it on her salary yes she can. is she entitled to an entertainment allowance under her contract? yes she is...
lets focus on the things that really matter. Less than $100 per head for DG SEC to entertain guests of the caliber of which we have not been informed is hardly news. LIB and other bloggers need to stop creating drama and inciting people especially when you cannot give the full story to back up your post. At least there is no champagne drinking there at about 25k per bottle... if that was on the bill what would you do cause a riot?
They had a meal at the Nicon what do you expect? Buka prices??

Anonymous said...

What is the issue here? I assume head of the SEC is not a small position of responsibility, I'm also sure it is within her entertainment budget,

Anonymous said...

What in this bill indicates it was incurred by her? What indicates this bill was paid for from FGN coffers?

I too can present a bill tomorrow and ascribe it to whomever I want. Come on.

Anonymous said...

If Aso rock has abudget of 1 billion naira for food and is accepted what is this.has anyone scrutinised the national assembly expenditure?IT may interest you to know that there is no due process in the award of contracts in the national assembly. The cost of governance is too high.We should cut down on our reps and senators same with ministers and parastatals.Government should stop this lip service to its recurrent expenditure. The amount of money that will be saved runs into billions if not trillions of naira that can be used in other sectors of our economy being underfunded.

Anonymous said...

Hmmnn.. But the truth of d matter is there are stil some govt officials that consume more than this in a day, how come no1 was bold enof 2 challenge goodluck 4 his 2million food budget per day abi mnth?? Why practice democracy backwards??? We are in a country that practices male chauvinism, nd bsydes Everybody in the govt is guilty of d same oFfence whether its done secretly or openly.. Mtcheewwww

It is clear that not only are u conceited u r also stupid. 75% of nigerians don't have enough to feed their family government official or not it is higly irresponsible of for anyone to waste such amount on food meeting or not. There are cheeaper better means of she could have used. And as for u saying hungry nigerians, YES they are hungry so I don't blame anyone for Vexing over this so KMT!!!!!!!!

Anonymous said...

C'mon Linda, this cannot be one person consuming all this. The question you should be asking is -
a) Was she entertaining guests in her official capacity?
b)Was she entertaining people but not in her official capacity and billing the government for it?
c)If she was entertaining guests in her official capacity, what is the limit that she can spend and did she exceed it?

Muyiwa said...

Its really amusing when Nigerians display thier ignorance on platforms like this. if after seeing the rendetion of this supposed bill and they still keep yelling that she consumed the whole amount. So if the DG sec is hosting finance industry leaders, she should take them to a mama put joint abi? Haba Linda, please stop leading people on. Booking a top rated restaurant exclusively for dinner alone can run into millions sometime so what is this noise about that the DG of SEC hosted people to a lunch and spent 91K?

Anonymous said...

i don't see what the noise is about obviously she ate with other guests whether business or private...nicon is one of the most expensive hotels in nigeria so it figures that if you invite like 3 others to join you you can rack up this kind of bill side bar its still beta than her investigators asking her for 44m..smh

Anonymous said...

According to the link below, Oteh said she hosted a dinner on March 24, 2010 for a group of international capital market experts. The bill you posted also reads March 24. The difference is she says the amount is 83K but the bill shows about 84K. Please whilst we are trying to bring corrupt leaders to book, we should also be balanced in our reporting

People are stupid- Its obviously for 4 people. Cant you see there 4 salmon, creme bulee etc. Plus the hotel is expensive so what are you people saying?? Thats even small compared to what others are doing for ridiculous things such as putting a charge for "opening facebook account". At least this one you can trace it. I actually don't think this is a problem at all cos she CLEARLY had guests.

Anonymous said...

Why is the bill confused? It doesn't add up and if u are at Hilton, 91k bill isn't a biggie. They should also beef her for staying at Hilton. Only a dumb person won't notice she didn't eat alone. NEXT...

Emmanuel said...

Honestly I see nothing wrong with this, this shows that she ate with other people. The price is kind of low for a hotel as transcorp with at least five people eating a meal. She is the DG of SEC or una want am make she go they chop with the people for mama put? This is a way to attack female politicians. Govt no go ever attack people like Peter Odili, Babangida, Obasanjo, Ibori, Lucky Igbinedion, .... Like this o.

I have worked in coporate organization and petty cash are assigned for unbudgeted cost like this and i can confirm that depending on the size and what eatery you go to, 91k is not too much

Linda we are lenearned people stop feeding us with stupid lies......it was not her alone that ate the food, like say if she invited you, you wont have dragged ur ass there..........i still remain your fan for bringing us gossip about what happening in nigeria but dont feed us with tom and Jerry stories

Emmanuel said...

Before I start getting attacked by '******', in punch news paper, she said she ate with guest on some official assignment. Common sense suppose tell us say one man no fit finish the food wen dey for receipt.

Anonymous said...

Certainly Linda, this cannot be a bill for one person at a sitting. No matter how she can eat,she could n't have been able to consume 4 lobsters on her own. Let forego all these spur of the moment reaction and put on our thinking caps. The bill did not say the number of people on the table. Whats wrong in spending the equivalent of $600 in one of Nigeria's best hotels if it means more business for the capital market.

I don't think it is prudent that government officials should be lodged in hotels but,for a food bill which is certainly not for one, thats fine by me.

Lets forget the sensationalism and concentrate on why the probe was called for in the first place, to review the crash in the stock market and whether regulators did their best to protect investors.

I very carefully read through the comments of others on this post and frankly I am amazed at the utter stupidity and shortsightedness of certain individuals.
I do agree that she is an official and probably acting in her official capacity hosted certain "important guests" at that hotel and incurred such debt. However wisdom is profitable to direct and it challenges my sensibilities when a country where citizens can not boast of decent electricity, healthcare, basic amenities, good roads, security, education, care for the vulnerable think it is permissible for anyone be you VIP be allowed to spend such astronomical sums on a sitting.Astronomical yes because using relativity you can see that the average Nigerian does not earn that in one month.
I DOFF MY HAT for NIgerians! It is shockingly astonishing. Are we all blind?or stupid?or simply too weak to say it the way it is?I keep saying it your leaders will keep pissing on you and say it is raining and you all will accept it with the same passive acceptance as displayed on this post.

Linda! You have just succeeded in exposing your ignorance about this issue. Yes signed the bill, but the consumption was for 8guests, on a single bill. On the top right corner of the bill, where the date and time is, you will see 'GST 8'. GST 8 means 8 guests. Please stop this misinformation, how did she spend 91k+ in one sitting on HERSELF?
I will like you to correct your error and give it same prominence like this current post, as the posting is aimed at painting her in bad light. Cheers!

Anonymous said...

Linda,
I am one of your fans but this time you really goofed and in the process you showed your lack of exposure. Haven't you ever been taken out on a date at a 5-star hotel, at least? These places cost money and it's obvious that she didn't eat alone. From the bill, she must have had mininum of 7 other people with her.

Besides, the SEC DG's press release explains the bill. It's satisfactory to most people who know what's up in corporate circles - social, business dinners are part of it.

Sorry, Linda. There's actually no story here and you kind of showcase your ignorance.

Afterall its supposed to be the best hotel to host guests in. Or have you forgotten that some people spend more than that in a day? Agreed that the average Nigerian doesn't receive up to 15k in wages but it's not a matter of witch hunting this woman. It should be a matter of the whole govt execs reducing their pay.

Linda please I know you are much smarter. You look at it, and know that it is not 1 person that had this. It was an OFFICIAL business meeting. She was staying at the Hilton because as SEC DG the govt is supposed to provide her with accommodation and instead put her up there. IT WAS IN HER CONTRACT!!!!! The govt puts her up in the Hilton, and later on develops Alzheimer's and starts questioning her why she is there???? Is our country run by fools?? People reading this and writing ignorant comments, are you that gullible to being such??

Last time I was in Nigeria, we ate at a restaurant in Lagos (V/I), bill was N35k and we didnt eat much, it was 3 of us. Let alone somewhere like Hilton that EVERYONE knows has crazy prices.

Herman Hembe and the House make N27m every quarter, so N60-100m a year! Have we asked them for their receipts?? They stay in govt provided mansions in Maitama, Asokoro and Wuse, have we checked how much those houses are worth?

NSE crashed in 2008, I lost millions.

Arunma Oteh started work Jan 2010. What does a March 2010 receipt have to do with the NSE crash??

Where are the SEC and NSE management from 2008, why are we not investigating them?

Musa Al-Faki was SEC DG before Arunma Oteh, how come most Nigerians dont even know his name?

Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, why isnt she being investigated when she was in charge of NSE during the crash?? If we remember last year they found out she had been using a fake degree for the past 20+ years.

Can we focus on important matters, this is the biggest waste of time ever. Why is there even a probe?
What the govt should be doing is asking Ms Oteh what she has been doing since Jan 2010, she should not even be asked about the crash. The issue started because she had Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke removed, because the woman was the root of the problem with the Stock market, since then Ndi has gone through a crazy extent to start a witch hunt against Arunma Oteh.

Linda I understand you are a blogger and thrive off traffic and comments, but to depict it in this manner, makes it seem like you are no different from the uneducated ones who do not know any better.Put your grown woman glasses on, and step up. Do your own investigation, and dont realize on sensationalized crap that is fed to you.

I laugh, is this ALL they have against Arunma Oteh?? This shows that she is BETTER than any one of them pointing fingers at her.

I'll be back.

That being said, she obviously didn't have this meal alone. You guys should look beyond the 91k or so, she could have feed her aides, business colleagues, friends or whoever. This makes absolute sense if this is what is meant by she spent 91k on a meal in one sitting.

Lagos hunter, "Poor hungry Nigerians"? Shame on u. Big shame. U should hang ur stupid hunting head. And for all of u saying its not a big deal, u spend more, bla bla, one question: DO U SPEND TAX PAYER'S MONEY??????? Blind fools. Its people like u that make government officials think its ok to spend as they like. Yes she's a top government official. Yes she entertains guests. Yes 91k may not seem that much of a big deal on one bill, but if she does this everyday do u know how much it'll total? She spends tax payer's money. She has a duty to be prudent with it. Lagos hunter u better go and purge ur stupi,d failed, condescending mind. Talking about "its only poor Nigerians that'll complain". U sound poor. Wretched infact. And maybe small change just entered ur pocket. U'll never catch a rich person making such a daft comment. The nerve! Please get out of lagos and return to the forest where u can hunt conveniently. LINDA, YOU NEED TO STOP MISREPRESENTING STORIES JUST TO DRIVE TRAFFIC ON YOUR BLOG. YOU ARE SERIOUSLY NOT LOOKING GOOD AT ALL. THIS WAS A BUSINESS DINNER WIT A GROUP OF PEOPLE, ITS ALL OVER THE NEWS NA! THIS IS SO UNFAIR OF YOU LINDA, I'M SURE YOU KNOW THE REAL STORY BUT STILL WANT COMMENTATORS TO POST THEIR USUAL VILE.

THEY HAD DINNER AT A FREAKING FIVE STAR HOTEL WHERE EVEN A BOTTLE OF FANTA COSTS N500. A FAMILY DINNER I HAD RECENTLY AT JADE COSTS ABOUT N63K.

STOP PAINTING THIS WOMAN IN A BAD LIGHT AT LEAST NOT WITH THIS FOOD BILL, IT IS PERFECTLY NORMAL.

Guys... we are all very quick to jump on people... and linda this is wrong.

she definitely did not dine alone, and we all know that nigeria is quite expensive... saying that i dont think a £400 dinner for the DG of SEC (if its official) is too much.

Linda am sure u have gone out on a nite out with friends and have spent way more than that.

when we criticise lets criticise with sense... that includes u linda.

However there is no excuse for spending 30m on hotel living bills.. Thats morally wrong

c'mon its not so much, im not a govt official and ive spent $150 on dinner for me alone at a good restaurant, its obvious she had guest...this is no big deal

Problem with us Nigerians is that we can be so judgemental..Many of us go out to clubs or bars and blow more than this amount on drinks alone with friends but because this woman is a govt official and someone wants her out, this has become public news....Go and ask many company staff blow more than that amount in hotels all over Nigeria...So before we come on here to start judging dis woman, lets do a self check first and stop being so f**king self righteous.....And she wasnt eating it alone im sure lets check...

It'll be nice for us to use our brains sometime. Nigerians just love to critise the scapegoat. whatever happened to Odili, Igbendion and co nko?

That bill isnt outrageous for a DG and was def a biz lunch.

Some of u here go clubbing friday night and spend half of ur salaries, y wld clubs like Deuces and co be in operation? when pple go there and have bottles of drinks...i cant still understand y a club sells by bottle not by glasses even pints....we create too much so called "LEVEL" in this country...if little us patronise such clubs imagine what will happen when they all get to such levels of authority. Nigerians supposed big boys and girls pop ROSE for no reason, i think its so senseless. Our folks dnt have champagne till a very important celebration, nw friday night is all bot popping...oh puhlease!

That said, hubby and I ran up 28k bill at Talindo Steakhouse, just for steak, cocktails and dessert...now imagine if we were 4. just saying 91k for Nicon for her level isnt such a biggie.

Let them face the problems of real corruption and stop distracting it which such petty issues.

She hosted some foreigners. That is why the bill is that huge and that dinner or lunch wasn't held at a local nkwobi joint. My boss and i spent half of that amount at Protea when we hosted about 6 people to lunch. For me that wasn't too much, if she actually hosted some guests and also where (Transcorp Hilton) such event took place matters.

I have never been to Transcorp Hilton for lunch so I may be mistaken but do bills usually have 'food' and not the actually break down of the meals? Even the road side restaurants will specify if it was rice and stew or eba and egusi.

I think this Food bill is a fake

Please this is irrelevant! How many Nigerians go out clubbing in one night and spend over 100,000?! This is the Director-General of an Organisation here!!! The money was in the budget for her to use as she deems fit! So Nigerians, back off and focus on the real issue. The stock market crashed. Ms Oteh wasn't in charge when it did. Some people just want to make her look bad because she's exposed some people. If you fight corruption, corruption fights back!

Alot of people making snide remarks are soooo ignorant. First of all if you go to Southern Sun for a dinner you would spend and average of 8k on food alone. we are not taking into consideration drinks et al. so you could have spent 15k on food and drinks alone. Multiply that by 6 people and you would get 90k easily. Those of you who have never been to a Transcorp Hilton or Southern Sun I do not blame you but your ignorance. It was a bloody business lunch people. Common Sense should tell you that it is not possible for one person to consume all that food even in a buffet. I guess some of you have never partaken in that either or know what a buffett is! LOL!

One, the pricing mix in that hotel is ridiculously expensive. Secondly, she couldn't have eaten all that alone. it must be some guests on her bill. We need to see her trend on a stretch of say a month. How did this bill leak to linda? what is the intention of the leak? I believe the lawmakers are not even the right abode for this probe. past experiences show that they are even more lousy with expenses.

There is nothing outrageous in this bill, at least for someone of her status... If u work in a govt agency or oil coy and get to be a manager or gm or in her case, dg which is equivalent to GGM in my coy, ur bill will be abt dis.

Those senators talking, how much is dia daily estacode and feeding allowance outside office...

Arunma oteh maybe corrupt but her food bill does not prove dis, neither does her hotel bill.

For Christ sake, this woman is a DG that deals with dignitaries. she is not that stupid like the people of National Assembly to write a food receipt of N850,000 for her self alone. she must have wine and dined with other people of her caliber. Please let us probe NA first before they probe anybody. they are just trying to divert attention from their wreckless spending. The woman is not a liability to the country she is contributing her quota to the economy. what has National Assembly contribute to the economy?. i expect them to probe Sanusi over 100m father Christmas gift for his people. She prolly refused to get them some ghana-must-go bags and thats why she’s been plotted against.Take a look at the video and look at her and look at the probing members of the house, never have i seen someone stand firm on her integrity to put those words to their faces and they were all looking like they’ve been caught too. who is the thief here. Shut down the National assembly, have a Single house made up of 10 people from each state, earning 200,000 monthly because it is for service to father land and not for accumulating wealth.
With all due respect, i can categorically say, that the members of the National Assembly have no shame and regard for service and a good name.
The pinnacle and apex of corruption in Nigeria is the National Assembly. It is a precise case of a big thief calling someone else a thief. if my figures were right, the lowest member of the House of Rep goes home every month with about N42,000,000. In a country where 62% lives on less than $2 bucks per day. of 3Trillion Naira budgeted, about 16,000 political officers take
almost 1.5Trillion of it. So who is the thief? 365 House of Reps alone just budgeted almost 33 billion Naira for themselves only to seat 3 times a week. Who is the thief here? by the way, why do we need to have a bi-camera legislature when millions of Nigerians are living below poverty line?
As for otteh, she probably got into this mess because she refused to cooperate with those members. she prolly refused to sort them and so they plotted her downfall. 365 House of Rep members, 109 Senators. David Mark and his deputy individually take home in 4 months is 6 times what David Cameron gets in a year. Who is the thief? . kai, naija dey joke big time.
No wonder Pastor Bakare said Nigerians are idiots cos the leaders have engineered the system to keep it that way and we keep allowing this people. I think the purpose of the dinner should be the issue. No one can consume these items alone, let us not be quick to condemn the SEC boss. What would be important for us is to know what the purpose of the dinner was. Though am not backing her yet, but there is the probability she bought and pay personnel some of the items with her money and the receipts issued in her name. If that is the case, there’s no problem. Again, taking into account the items listed below, she was definitely not the only person consuming the items. One may reason if she had official meeting with some people and at the end bought these things for her visitors. We are yet to hear her site of the story before we condemn her.

Meanwhile, Hembe has admitted that he actually collected money from the SEC for the said training at Dominican Republic but was unable to meet up with the training bcos he first travel to USA and could not meet up with the training. The summary is that he actually collected the money and change his route to US.

We need to be careful here,.. and not trivialise issues. If there is actual wrong doing,.. then let it be said to be so,... Definately, she didn't consume 5 bottles of Star at a sitting (alone),... The question here is,.. 'what type of breakfast/lunch/dinner is this -private or official? if it was private, then she should have paid. If it was official, then it's a different story. My take is that our public figures always want to trivialise issues to suit their purpose,... bringing out this story might be an attempt to draw 'wool' over our eyes,.. and mislead us,.. how come the Petroleum saga didn't produce (and has not produced) any concrete figures till date?

I am curious to know what the big deal is with the 91k bill?

Public official or not, as the head of SEC she is entitled to spend even much more than that entertaining guests. And yes, as a top government official she is expected to entertain guests regularly

It is only poor pple (yes, poor hungry Nigerians) that will make a big deal out of inconsequential things like a $600 food bill of a top government official.

March 20, 2012 10:26 PM

@ lagos hunter you are so stupid....in a country where about 98% of its population cannot afford to feed and another 80% have to work about 6 months to earn that money, you think she is right because she is a government official. you foolish stowaway calculating the bill in dollars to show you live in america (actually showing your ignorance). standard of living and pricing of items are very diffrent in these 2 countries. coke bottle cost me £1.60 in the UK, guess what? its not up to 100 naira in nigeria. fool... and how high up is she? there are still alot of people higher so if she can spend almost 100,00ok to feed them the others above her should be running into millions abi? ignorant fool like you. i am sure you are eating nigeria's money where ever you are and its God that would punish you and your generation. onye oshi, ode oshi , BASTARD

This Hilton sef! Dem too dey do! Bloody expensive and not particularly fantastic quality or service for that matter. Can someone tell me why they are so expensive cos I don't get it? is it just the name? Their rooms have become so shabby. I have seen threadbare beddings and curtains in a couple of their rooms in recent times and wonder why they cant refurbish these rooms at the exorbitant prices they charge!
Anyway I digress. So which one is the N850k they said she spent in a day? Was that an error?
The question I have is, who did she host? Was it work-related or personal? If it was personal, she should be reprimanded and told to stop spending our government money to host her friends and family (assuming of course that the tab was picked up by SEC). Even if she was hosting a dinner for work colleagues, there are several ways to be more prudent. We don't want it shoved in our faces that you can afford lobster bisque and creme brulee when the average Nigerian can barely afford 3 or even 2 basic meals a day.

I think what public and government officials should take away from this sorry saga is that they have to be more prudent in their lifestyle and spending. Nigerians are more aware now than they have ever been, about what goes on in the polity and the affairs of how this country is run.

All government officials are accountable to us the people. After all, that is what true democracy is about - government for the people by the people.

OOh, please Linda, N84,000 is not much for 4 people at the Hilton or any where in the world. Its not a buka now. Yes, if we have to compare with the sufferings in our dear country, yes its a lot. However, their would always be a gap between the rich and the poor. Trust me, its no biggie. If you know what your senators spend when they go out abroad, you would pass out! Now imagine,(people that know) a 4 course meal at a very nice restaurant in London's westend, washed down with a bottle of Crisytal Champayne or an exotic wine for 4? you would spend nothing less than £2,500. About N650,000. Believe me, they do it daily. It doesnt make it right, but they do.

FOOD IN NIJA RESTAURANTS ARE MORBIDLY OVERPRICED, THEIR HOTELS ARE MORBIDLY OVERPRICED..IN AMERICA NO ONE PAYS THESE RIDICULOUS AMOUNTS...THE GREED IN NIJA IS MIND BOGGLING YET THE MASSES ARE SUFFERING UNDER BACKBREAKING POVERTY SHAMEFUL!!!!

let her incur that bill at Sweet Sensation and i would be worried.
Transcorp and the like are morbidly over priced ad not worth the amount. Besides i am sure she was not eating alone. I doubt she drinks beer.

Linda, your love for sensationalism often makes you look dumb. Why not report the complete story?report both sides and let the public judge.

its sad dat some pips will comment asking WHATS THE BIG DEAL....well,its not ur fault that u earn above 150k a month and u have other business(legal or illegal) u run on the side.if you are fully aware of the situation of d masses and u have a CONSCIENCE(which obviously you don't have) you will scream like d rest of us over the outrageous expenditure of funds which is part of the taxes the same masses pay.

if you now live abroad(which doesnt make you any better than d rest of us)and you think its also chicken change then its not your fault. my prayer for you is,if and wen you decide to come down n start up a business in naija and u get ridicules levies or taxes to pay both FG,state govt n the urchins on weekly basis then you readup news about how one local Councillor or house of rep is spendn extravagantly dont complain. seriously, dont complain....... thats my peice

Wat is in 100k lunch. Poverty is worrying you people. This is not a big deal.

Really, where do you dine when in America?

Anonymous said...

relativity is what you bloggers fail to understand. so the DIG pays 84,300 for food. To her it could simply be less than 1 percent of her salary O_O

Lmao. Poverty mentality dey worry u Linda. Me and 3 of my girls go to lounges and spend 25 , 000 naira on just drinks and appetizers only. NAIja restaurants are overly priced so I don't think she has done anything wrong here

Having seen the evidence against her, particularly that of N85k food or N850k, I would have said that those that find this impossible are suffering from poverty mentality but I will not. Rather, will put it down to lack of exposure. Just a dinner of 10 people in the case of 85k or a 100 people in the case 850k is enough to rack up those bills... This is a CEO of SEC for crying out loud. Anything from HOD dinner to market operators dinner/lunch could have necessitated those... And again, this was a one off.. It is quite clear that those saying that the private sector will never spend this much do not know what they're saying... This is chicken change compared to what the likes of Shell, Mobil, Guiness, Nbl, Nbc, nesle, bat, etc spend.

Where one may have issues is with her lengthy stay in the hotel. But you have to wait for her to explain before drawing any conclusion.

The woman was not there when the market collapsed. She was head-hunted to right the wrongs that led to the crash. Has she been found wanting here? All we are yakking about are administtative issues which at best will atttact a reprimand or a refund at worst. The way the committee went about their business, one would not have been mistaken for thinking it was a spanish inquisition... Let them face the real problems (belated) and stop chasing shadows..

"...It is only poor pple (yes, poor hungry Nigerians) that will make a big deal out of inconsequential things like a $600 food bill of a top government official."

@lagoshunter I don't even know where to start with you. I can only deduce that you're enjoying kickbacks from these glorified armed robbers or that you must be in some top political position yourself, because if you are a Nigerian who is not in power and your stupidity is already spewing forth like this then this country has no future. Even if she used official money to entertain (how won't she use "official" money by the way? The money they are earning rightly and the money they are chopping illegally, isn't it all official money?), my problem is with your comment about poor people. You are saying "poor people" like only 1% of this country is poor. Over 90% of the population is poor and they are poor because we do not have facilities in place to help them develop, because regular (and sometimes barely educated) Nigerians have attained fancy titles and stolen from other regular Nigerians. Your mouth like poor people, like they don't count, like they are inconsequential. Yes poor people are angry and because there are so many poor people 600 dollars is a freaking big deal. Amadioha and Sango fire your mouth there. The way you talk about poor people you would think all the rich people that get accused and insulted are rich because they worked for their money. Nonsense. Be there talking out the side of your ass.

We all see now that Herman Hembe admitted he didnt go to Dominican Republic, instead he went to Texas!!

His excuse was that he got there too late, and they told him not to bother coming from Texas!!

Mind you, this man was given prob business class ticket, hotel money for all those nights, food allowance and all. Yet he chose to fly all the way to Texas, for reasons best known to him. Texas is no way close to Dominican Republic. He obvious had his own vacation intentions.
He picked the wrong lion to mess with. He couldnt find anything substantial to use against Arunma Oteh, and allowed himself to be used as a pawn by Emeka Ihediroha and co. I LAUGH!!!!

Lindaaa! Why are you so hypocritical? The woman spent 91,000 (NGN) as against 850,000 (NGN) your stupid reps said she spent at one sitting. Would she have eaten all that food alone? Is she a glutton? I don't know this woman from Adam, but for goodness sake, why can't you people just think and see beyond your noses. She is a D.G for heavens sake and she s gonna be meeting with numerous people. And for you information, Transcorp is not cheap. You saw a bottle of soft drink being sold there for N500. Would you buy it for that amount outside? Why are you people so Nigerianish? Would you rather she hit amala joint just to prove Akintola to you people. Such low lives! If you, Linda gets to that post which I pray, please carry your Coal pot follow body to Transcorp. And if you are invited there for an event, simply tell them that you are too low to eat their kinda food. Mschew!
Just look at the way you wrote the headline. You are already judgmental. Women are each other's worse enemies.
Are you ignorant of the corruption in the Legislative house. Did you not hear that they asked her for millions of Naira as bribe. Do you think she made that up? Or is the committee chairman your sugar daddy? Why do you always try to cover up the truth when you see it sometimes. I used to like you but right now, I dont know. I think you are a little bias. This woman didn't grow up in Nigeria so she has no Nigerian sense. (sharp sharp). I
believe She Just gullibly and innocently walked into a
trap. All the committee members, their colleagues and senators put together needs to be tied to the stakes. They are raping Nigeria silly and the country is fainting under them. Ha! Ha! What a house of thieves!
