Let's not gloss over the past! It's history that we stood by that country or spent our resources to free them from the shackles of apartheid. We indeed lost all honour when we were not granted free visa status to enter into such a country. Even some ECOWAS countries are now making the free entry and exit thing to have a space of time.
That they could seize our funds and some elements in Nigeria urged them on is only an indication of greater mess to come.
I read elsewhere about views for Nigerians to boycott products or patronage of firms with South Africa links and I wonder if truly those businesses close shops or they downsize, won't Nigerians working for them suffer more?
In all, let's get our own internal system working and make the country one the preferred and safe place for investment to thrive without so much bottle neck. We might rather review our tax system to aid indigenous businesses and about. Those ones that technically appoint a Nigerian Chairman and repatriate profits.
I am sure when monday comes and the FG live up to the promise of evacuating Nigerians trapped in that country, some people will still risk staying than coming back!

I seriously condemn the killing of foreigners in south Africa especially for the Nigerians I mean they claim that we steal their jobs and live large over there but that is not in any way out problem just as we travel to the US To seek for greener pastures so. also the same applies for south africa if their citizens ain't doing well and aren't living large then it's for their government to handle it. The white come to Nigeria and live large too and drive fancy cars and live in penthouses and mean while 80% of our citizens are living in abject poverty. There is only one thing I can say about south Africans they are deadly and have a thirst for blood even be for the apartheid era. from their president to the last citizen they are blood thirsty. They want to kill and start a conflict do they think there are no. south Africans living in Nigeria how would they feel if we kill the south Africans here too? And what they fail to. realize is that we love their country that's Y we go. there. But if they are gonna keep been racial and hard hearted toward Nigerian then I think if the Nigerian Government dosent do something fast about it then Nigerians may be forced to take actions that may cause blood shed. There are our brothers and sisters that are being killed over there. And we are are getting impatient.

The story tagged "How Nigeria Spent $61 BN to FREE SA, OTHERS FROM APARTHEID" was written by me for African Standard Newspaper in Johannesburg about ten years ago. I received threatening calls from the South African Ministry of Internal Affairs on where i got the story from and i directed them to Mr Kuforiji who was the Nigerian Ambassador then.

Unknown said...

Thought south africans were advance people, guess i was wrong. They are shameless and lazy something not humanbeings cos they dont act as humans. Shame shame shame shame to u all!

Anonymous said...

...and so what. Even though I detest the xenophobic attacks happening now in SA, Nigeria and Nigerians should stop whipping up sententious about how they helped during apartheid. It's annoying that anytime some evil happens in SA Nigerians will hang on to the apartheid era. Useless people, instead if you to sit down and understand why your nationals are spins business and making money in SA for SA you are busy holding on to history. Oshi

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has said he is ready for dialogue with his opponents to bring peace to the state.

He also asked for forgiveness from those he might have offended, saying “nobody is perfect.”

Fayose spoke on Friday at a special prayer session organised for him by the Ansar-udeen Mosque, Atikankan in Ado-Ekiti to celebrate his recent electoral victory at the Supreme Court.

The 19 All Progressives Congress lawmakers of the Ekiti State House of Assembly have issued a notice of impeachment to the governor, citing eight impeachable offences.

The embattled Speaker, Dr. Adewale Omirin, had last week Thursday requested the state Chief Judge, Justice Ayodeji Daramola, to raise a seven-man panel within seven days of receipt of the letter to investigate Fayose and his deputy, Dr. Kolapo Olusola, over allegations of impunity, violence and stalking among other constitutional breaches.

Fayose said, “If they say someone has enemies, I’m number one in the world. But God has been merciful and has been helping me to overcome my challenges.

“I need your prayers because it will strengthen me more. I’m here in the mosque to thank God.

“All I want is peace. I have a constitutionally guaranteed tenure. A governor is judged by his achievements in office. All I’m interested in is to bring development to my people. My opponents know if I have a rest of mind I will achieve my objectives.

“All those I have offended should forgive me for the sake of the masses and orphans. They should know people gave me the mandate. Nobody is above mistake; they should forgive me.”

The governor said a lot of people in the state had been living in palpable fear of the unknown before the judgment of the Supreme Court.

“We are here to thank God and pray for peace. I’m appealing to those aggrieved to please allow peace to reign.

“There is no perfect man. They should allow peace to reign. All I want is peace that will energise development.

“Anything that can bring peace cannot be wished away. For me, I’m ready to accommodate everybody. Whatever they want we can sit down and talk.”

Earlier before leading the prayers for the governor, the State Missioner of the Ansarudeen Movement, Alhaji Liadi Adebayo, called on politicians in the state to settle their differences.

He canvassed for peaceful co-existence of the entire people of the State, irrespective of their political differences.

The Cleric urged residents to live together in harmony as politics was not supposed to be a do or die affair.

Iam a nigerian, but sadly not proud one when in a few countries I've visited, I see the attitude of some of our citizens, especially the many that go to these foreign lands to seek greener pastures.
While the actions of the uncivilized south africans is punishably condemnable, its time nigerian leaders look inward and ask themselves:
1. Why on earth, do nigerians prefer to go slave it out in other countries but not nigeria?
2. Why do nigerians treat foreigners with more respect than they do an average fellow nigerian?
3. Why are there more rich citizens as well as more poor (abjectly so!) ones in the same country than anywhere else, and the rich are not neccessarily anywhere near more hardworking?
4. How could nigeria have had the 1st TV station in africa, yet can not boast of the best in africa?
5. How can a country with so many youths and with vast fertile land not have jobs for these youths?
6. How can a country have so many Universities/Research institutes and professors, yet no inovation of value to an average citizen comes from our land?
7. How can our security personels perform outside nigeria to international commendations but never at home?
8. Why will a nigerian prefer to die trying to seek asylum elsewhere rather than live in his country?
9. Why do our leaders feel relatively free with the citizen once in four years?
10. How can nigeria be a world leader in crude oil production and yet be a massive importer of petrol and kerosine for years, defendable by a so-called finanace minister and world reknown economist?
11. Why do other nationals often wonder why nigerians and their leaders are such peculier people that they can not understand?

Until we answer these and many other questions in practice and do the needful, the SA experience will continue to be our lot in small and large scales as this.

Is it because of the useless name GIANT of AFRICA? This should be a lesson to our leaders that before we start interfering in other countries matters especially, like paying debt, we NEED to DEVELOP our own country first.
Thousands of Nigerians are trooping out to other countries just because they are more developed than our own and we are all looking for Greenland Pasture.

Let's, for moment, pretend that Nigeria has ever had $61BN to spend on anything let alone support for an other country. Where did all this money go?

We (South Africa) received finance from many donor nations Sweden, USSR, China. We got military support as arms and training from USSR, China & Cuba. Tanzania, Angola, Zimbabwe and Mozambique hosted MK military bases and political headquarters in Lusaka.

Many countries on the continent gave the little they could spare. So where did "Billions" come from and where did they go?

What they are doing is unjust. ..Do you know how many south Africans are directors of multinationals in Nigeria and live in choice property in Nigeria?why don't we beat them up or kill them?what we do here is work hard that's where they are getting it wrong.nothing justifies the reason for killing anyone.

If they continue killing and sucking blood from foreigners, we can equally send them packing from Nigeria and I belt you they we lose. Intact multi choice is even having a case in court now about 20% increment. Where is FGN now and they been silent on this. Are they waiting to kill all Nigeria before in SA before acting? Is well.

Nigerians act like they never been helped by South Africans if you look at the history between the two countries their relations have always been good. As a South African with Mozambican grand parents, these criminal injustices bring me great sadness and my sentiments are shared by a majority of South Africans so you may curse us all much as you can but only God can judge us and this too shall come to pass. This no more Xenophobia this is criminality

Segun Balogun hoax or not did we or did we NOT send anything to help these bastards fight apartheid? even if it was a farthing we helped them get back their lands from Bortha and his lot. This is why a successful boycott cannot happen in Nigeria we are so quick to criticize each other in a bid to prove we KNOW IT ALL... ITK
