Xenophobia: House of Rep member calls for evacuation of Nigerians in SA

The Chairperson of the House of Representatives Committee on Foreign Affairs, Nnenna Elendu-Ukeje, has called on the Federal government to initiate moves to evacuate Nigerians in South Africa following recent xenophobic attacks. In an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, Ukeje said;
“The Federal Government of Nigeria should rise up to the occasion by having contingency plans to evacuate Nigerians within 24 hours to avoid us losing our citizens to these attacks. It is expedient to think of where all Nigerians can gather within 24 hours for safety either in our embassy or mission for the safety of our citizens,” she said.
Also speaking, chairperson of the House committee on Diaspora, Abike Dabiri-Erewa condemned the attacks and said the House of Representative members will move a motion in its next plenary session to discuss the attacks

We need action, and not all dis words on papers.

Well to be honest i dont think nigerians would want to return. Because im sure mugabe has plans for their citizens return eg temporary setup plan to help them but this Govt would just bring them back and ignore them. Because u cant bring somebody whose based there to nigeria just like that without plans to temporarily assist them.

Such a barbaric act by fellow blacks...the presidency should act fast

Nigerians will not want to leave oh. Most of them have lost touch with Naija while greed will not allow others to think of their lives first before any other thing. Whichever one they choose to do, they just just stay safe.

The question is.....are Nigerians there willing to cum back home????

so because a group of barbaric hooligan from a particular part of SA are killing foreigners (to be precise ZULU's) our fist cause of action is to evacuate all nigerians form SA.Why would our senate feel that by going to pick up our people who have spent all their lives, invested in the country in question,married to south africans be the best option,Has south africa declared war? or is some one looking for a way to generate money from the evacuation flights.., Rather than being this dramatic, why can't we send representatives together with all other north, east, west and south african countries and go have a conference with the south african government to address this issue of xenophobia .Mandate the government to apprehend all the perpetrators(,e.g. THE ZULU KING ETC)and taken to ICC to be trailed and predicted. CASE CLOSED! just watched a viral video which was sent to me from S.A of them burning young girl, teenage kids, adults, alive and it made me so sick to the stomach.
To my fellow Africans lets keep the PEACE AND STOP THE VIOLENCE!

South Africans are killing nationals of other african countries living amongst them,claiming that they are sabotaging their economy while their companies operating within our shores keep exploiting Nigerians everyday yet we don't complain!!! It had to take a court injunction to stop DSTV (a south african company) from increasing d prices of bouquets on their pay tv platform which is way beyond expensive for the ordinary Nigerian! MTN (another south african company) keeps draining our resources with high call rates & internet bundles yet deceiving us with their numerous sham promo which nobody ever wins!!!! Somebody please tell the south african govt that Nigerians aint fools!!! They cannot be making so much money from us & killing our brothers within their shores! An MTN service mast would go down for the life of any nigerian killed within their shores! TELL DEM!!!! #1MTNmast4onedeadNigerian
