Nigerian Youths Unite with a Common Future #hatsforward

We share a common ground. United in diversity; unique in culture. We are Nigeria. West of Africa: the Giant of Africa. We are diverse in ethnicity; dynamic in style. Call it fila, fedora, gele, abetiaja or the red fez. One hat steeped in culture unites Nigerians in diversity and pride.

The style of a hat says a lot about a man and his heritage; and like they say, a man’s heritage is his pride. He may doff it to show respect, it may stand tall to show achievement or tipped to the side to show his style. Regardless of the shape or size, a hat is always worn with honour.

Despite the differences in hats and style, young Nigerians are united by a common future as they go #hatsforward to the polls this month. #hatsforward is a groundbreaking online experiential campaign mobilizing youths in Nigeria to vote. Not just a hashtag, #hatsforward is an immersive drive to make the opinion of Nigerian youths count and shape the future with their votes.

#hatsforward kicked off on 14th March, 2015 with a series of interactive online videos featuring urban youths in full swagger, doffing hats, dancing and passing it on to the next youth. The energetic video unites a chain of young, diverse Nigerians who signify camaraderie and team-spirit as they cheerfully pass the #hatsforward. A vivid reminder that unity is strength, and strength spurs forward movement. Indeed, that is what democracy looks like.

Young Nigerians are rallying on with #hatsforward. Anyone can join in on the conversation on social media or by shooting a #hatsforward video and uploading it on hatsforward.ng. The #hatsforward app is available for download on Android in the Google Play store by searching for Hatsforward Nigeria, install the app, then shoot and share your video. Selected videos will be featured on national television. Connect with like-minded Nigerians by dropping your #hatsforward video now.

Be part of this common future. Let’s go #hatsforward with President Goodluck Jonathan. Join in building a lasting legacy by casting a vote for continuity. Let us vote the leader we need, for the future we want. #hatsforward.

Im sorry to say this but Nigerian's DISGUST ME!!! how on earth does this man even stand a chance of winning with his extremely poor performance over the years. people forget the years of suffering they have endured, the economic issues and increased blood shed, I'm not saying it is Jonathan fault, neither am i saying he is a bad man or that he is corrupt but there is one thing i am sure of... HE IS INCOMPETENT!!! It irrirtates me to see most of the people who were initially against him suddenly turn around, smile and back him as if all is well, all for what??? a little money?? is the money he paid you worth an extra four years of stagnanation and no progress??? don't you people even think??? the reason Nigeria is so underdeveloped and backwards is not because of the government it is because of the people who allow the government to trample on their backs and still allow the only power which they have to be bought, their votes!!

@Speeid: You have said it all. We are the cause of our problems and not the Government. We have the power to elect who we think can make our life better.

You are entitled to your own opinion because we know that things can only get better with transformation not "change" to the unknown

i agree with @speeid. aren't we nigerians not tired of PDP, they have ruled at the highest level of government since nigeria became democratic, and there has'nt been much to show for it. change is what is required, i would rather gamble on buhari than vote for sure failure

only a selfish and ignorant person would campaign for this man. betrayal of their people and themselves is what this is

Was loving it until the point Jona was mentioned. Can't a good initiative like this be apolitical? Something for the youths to identify with, rather than the failed politics of our country.

What's good about did trash

These naive Nigerians is a reminiscent of the biblical Cain and Abel story. One sold his birthright for a plate of food. These foolish campaigners live in squalor, broken and dilapidated houses (seen from the background of the man in red), bad roads (from the man in green agbada) and many many more which I just can't watch to the end. Yet they are singing the praise of an incumbent president whose tenures hasn't reshaped their lives from any point of visibility, or obscurity to limelight.
