I was in the Nigeria low comission the other day after surviving the politics at the door. While wating over 6hrs for a document although i had an appointment, some oyibo came inside the place and saw the commotion inside that dirty jampacked place...just took a picture of the scene and left. The moral of the story is that all Nigerian missions abroad contribute to tarnishing Nigeria's image.

I think we knock ourselves too much!! The Nigerian embassy is not the only embassy that uses 1-900 premium lines. The charge can be as high as $3 and it goes to the phone company (mostly). Dozens of embassies including US (in the UK), Italian, Portuguese and UK embassies use 900 lines because, like someone correctly noted earlier, it helps to ward-off prank calls.

Calling the British consular or visa section in Ireland is €1:75, it's the practice for most embassies round the world, except that, there # dedicated to helping their citizens but all calls regarding consular ie passport, visa etc are charged at premium rate. But I fear if you'll ever get service. Nigeria embassies round the world are the worse ever seen, it's line a typical market and the staff are bleeding rude. Sometimes citizens are locked out in the cold it's SAD!
