There are so many other government owned institution that their infrastructure is nothing to talk about, maybe channels tv need to expose more of such institutions! Over to LIBERS.

I really hope he does. I love the way he went there without notice. Busted! They were even holding a wedding reception there which is illegal. Jonathan pls keep to your words o.

You can say that again, thank God for social media, if the our system was working well it shouldn't have gotten to the stage of the media crying over it before an action is taken in the first place. I just hope GEJ promises won't turn out to be empty promises in the long run.

Amen ooooo!!!!we pray.

the police college is nothing compared to the hostels of the university I attend. A private university for that matter. one that students pay more than half a million. Channels crew should come and check Bells University of Technology out too.

The IGP or whoever is in charge of these things should be fired. Big ups to Channels, we hope many more things r brought to light. Unfortuantely, we know that revamping in Naija is an invitation to loot, let's hope they do "something" tho. God save Naija.

Honestly, that short documentary would have forced Togo president to extend a helping hand even if GEJ never came to the rescue. Channels, please come and do a documentary on the deplorable state of roads in my area lets see if the president would come this time.

I shall set up a 10_man committee to look into the revamping and also set up a panel to probe those involved in defacing Nigerian Police and bring them to book.

I'm happy that social media is making an impact in saving this nation. I was so excited when I read about the unplanned visit. If only we could all have one voice and continue to tackle our government with social media, we would have a great change in this country some day. He should also visit the NYSC orientation camps too unannounced so he can see the deplorable state of things there. Its the same thing! God help us.

The police authorities were in shock last night after an angry President Goodluck Jonathan stormed out of the Police College, Ikeja, Lagos during an unexpected visit to personally assess the rot at the college.

The President’s visit was provoked by a weeklong expose by the Lagos –based Channels Television on the dehumanising conditions trainee policemen go through in the college.

President Jonathan, who was on his way to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire for a meeting of ECOWAS leaders on the insurgency in Mali, was as embarrassed by what he saw as the inability of the Commandant of the institution, Police Commissioner I.F.Yerima, to answer any of the four questions he asked the police officer.

The President and his entourage, including the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) Zone Two, Mamman Tsafe, and the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Umar Manko, drove into the college at about 3pm and parked in front of the Sports Store.

From there,he walked to the hostels. He also inspected the women’s hostels, the kitchen, the dining halls facing the parade field and the officers’ mess.

Security was tight with armed soldiers and policemen deployed in strategic places in the college.

As he left the mess to enter his car, he suddenly paused and faced CP Yerima to ask him a few questions.

By now, a crowd had gathered struggling to see the President and were at the same time hailing him.

He waved to them to acknowledge their greetings.

Then came the first question for the College Commandant: How was Channels TV able to penetrate and record the mess without detection?

The CP had no answer.

The second question followed: When was the recording done. Again there was no answer.

The Commandant turned to his deputy and other senior officers to assist him in answering the President’s questions, but none was able to help him out.

The President then quipped: “This is a calculated attempt to damage the image of the government, as the college is not the only training institution in the country.”

He soon entered his car and left.

After the President’s departure, the college Commandant met briefly with his officers before he too took his leave.

Senior officers later gathered in groups to review the visit.

Some of policemen in the college who pleaded for anonymity were happy at the President’s visit which they said would help in reversing the fortunes of the college.

They called for the probe of the trainees’ welfare in the last five years.

Dats naija for u some pple must go down for exposing this rot cos govt wil see it as 'enemies' trying to discredit them.

@anon 8:29pm. I'm also a student of Bells university. It's so sad that bells got dumb students like you. How is it the govt's business if our hostel is not in good condition? Or were you forced to pay the fees? Or probably OBJ or Jonathan uses the hostel with u yh?

P.S. My hostel is on point that's coz I don't mess it up + the cleaners are there. So please try keep your hostel in good condition or perhaps report to the VC instead of coming here. Thx :* *hug*

Jonathan ask a question, how did channal tv get in the complex...it is very unfortunate to know that he is not aware of the country he leads...the college is a product of years of neglect.he should be ashamed...this is a country where the are spending 3billion for the vice presidents house...he is very clueless...or maybe he is sourounded by clueless people...rubbish

So sad that it will take Channel TV and the social media foe government to do their job. What is the IG of police doing. Was he not aware of the deplorable situation of that college. I bet he is a graduate of that Sch. I weep for my beloved country.
