Soldier filmed colleagues killing captives in Maiduguri - Reuters

JTF spokesman, Lieutenant Colonel Sagir Musa
International news agency, REUTERS, on Sunday reported  that it was in possession of an amateur video showing Nigerian soldiers shooting unarmed captives in broad daylight in Maiduguri,  Borno State.

It said the video was sent to it by a soldier,  who claimed to have witnessed the shooting. Reuters quoted the unnamed soldiers as saying that he was present when the soldiers shot the captives about two weeks ago. (Punch)

In judicious Killings! This has been going on for long, I have heard of stories up north where soldiers coming to an area where a bomb had earlier exploded and just open fire on everyone around. This is just so crude!! Boko haram are there causing havoc and these incompetent soldiers who are to protect are there wasting innocent lives. Where would that innocent man, woman, child run to? How sad!

Linda, this isn't new, it happens even in Kirikiri and Area F in Ikeja. You don't want to hear the gruesome tales of former convicts

What do u mean its cruel hur, boko haram will go to a road in a neighborhood, dig and plant bomb there, so no one saw them when they are planting the bomb abi, then the bomb will kill innocent peace keepers and u xpect them not to react, when the army came to invade niger delta in the name of finding militants did u know happy many innocent people that were killed by those hausa soldiers bcos many of them were hausas, y did they not video. Rubbish. Una never see anything

Do we really expect anythn less?
The army (especially) now isn\'t a field for d patriotic. Its basically some other means outta d train of d unemployed.
Crazy thin is, dis guys go thru all sorts of draconian military training, but not 1 bit of (@ least) d basic human rights, is imbibed durin such trainins. Probably, u\'ll have 2 go for courses 2 get dat, maybe. (Tho, u\'ll ask; how many of dem can evn read and write?)
We shuld expect more of dis in dis nation, until d human rights of every citizen is prioritised, mainly by our security agents (who ironically, make d worse offenders).

Solomon Nobleman, clearly ur a soldier/military/policeman. May God not allow any member of ur family b murdered by this same pple u speak for, then u'l realise dt u - young man haven't seen anything. No one shd support extra-judicial killing, oh well we'v lost all sense of humanity anyways, but until ur family goes tru it continue living like d devil himself.

They've been wiping out communities in the north anyhow for a long time. My hausa friend confirmed this. He said they go from house to house o killing both innocent and guilty. Many of them are not so innocent because they have links to boko haram. Its either their brother Or father is a bokoharam member. I just feel the president knows about all this. It reminds me of what a police man told my dad. He said they have been giving a secret mandate to carry out extra judicial killings on armed robbers and other people wiv heinous crimes cus of congestion in prisons and most especially to reduce crime rate. He said if they don't do this, because of the population in Nigeria, nigeria would have been worse than south africa wiv crime. He said he is very sure robbers would have been going from house to house, even walking alone in the day time would be a serious risk. They round them up and shoot them! People don't no this things but this killings happen everyday especially to those people that do not have family anywhere. Its just that sometimes innocent people are killed.

"REUTERS, on Sunday reported  that it was in possession of an amateur video showing Nigerian soldiers shooting unarmed captives in broad daylight in Maiduguri"
There's why the courts are there, to prosecute guilty ppl, shooting unarmed people! C'mon! How do they identify the guilty from the innocent?

The first two bastards who commented are cows. So the killings pepetrated by this evil boko haram is not clear for all to see abi? I am highly in support of sodiers killing those cowards and bastards. Because if they are arrested and handed over to d police, the corrupt nigeria police will set them free thereby causing more harm and danger to the nigeria people. Plz d sodiers should arrange them in 100s and execute them in broad day light.

I pray dey don't release d video,coz d result will be catastrophic.

Then one day after killing "those bastards and cowards" ur cousin or family friend goin on a street in north 2 wld be killed, then u wld start cryin foul.if both d innocents and d guilty are all executed on d street of nigeria, then sooner than later every family in nigeria wld b touched.

Bro, ur life is Precious to u and ur loved ones, not to BH, angry uniformed men with arms or robbers.
May we never be caught in btw extra judicial killings or BH bombings. The peace we wish in Nigeria will live only in our hearts as long as our unable govt keeps up with their nonchalant attitude.

It is not pretty but then again it is a war. The soldiers do that probably to get the residents to ensure that their area is rid of any boko haram elements. It is almost like the christians that go and kill innocent muslims in jos and kaduna anytime christians are killed. It is not right but it does send a message to the perpetrators that they will lose some people from their side as well..

PRINCE CHARMING e b like say you dey read my mind, dis iz exactly wot I wanted to say. Anon nov 20 4:47, well my family will never be caught there ok, do u know what it is fighting the unknown, that the kid driving a bicycle close to u can just xplode a bomb, that a father goes out with an ak47 to kill innocent christians and uniform men and when being chased runs into his home were all his families are instead of some were else just to save his family, that in a house of 8 both the father and the kids are boko members. So if we were in the filled and I point a house to u and tell u go and find out if that family is a boko member so u will enter d house abi. I pity u. Yes am a uniform man and I know what's going on there and I bet u really don't want to know.. We are at war with the unknown and in that case anon 4:47 SHIT HAPPENS

Reuters, the International News Agency has
withdrawn a violence video purported to be taken
in Maiduguri last week after discovering that the
video was a fake video. Reuters had previously
alleged that the video was sent to it by a soldier
who witnessed the killings, but when contacted, the
Nigerian Army spokesman, Colonel Mohammed
Yerima, had denied the video claiming it was a set
up by Boko Haram for propaganda purposes.
He had said when contacted about the video that
"How can they do that? It is not possible. This is the
Boko Haram tactics," he said. "They will do the
killing, say it's the military and then Amnesty
International and so on will blame us. It's not
possible for Nigerian troops to act in this way."
But after investigating the story and finding it to be
false, Reuters released the following statement
below;
(Reuters) - Please be advised that the Nigeria story
issued on November 18, 2012, reporting that a video
showed Nigerian troops shooting unarmed captives,
is withdrawn.
The story is withdrawn because questions have
been raised about the date and location of the
video.

@elebiju,,,if the info is real,thanks......but @ the same time, how do you treat a case where out of a familiy of 20,5 are boko haram members, and when chase by jtf the run to their innocent family for cover??????????....from top security,it is now 1member of boko haram to every 10 family....and this are the same cows that are blaming goodluck....i have always said that poverty is a mortal sin but when my friend in the north told me about the level of poverty in the north, even after ruling the nation for more than 30years,i was speechless.......even with all the food they claim??????.the only solution is that a little rational(western, fuck amjr)mindset to islam like their yoruba counterparts will save them from this inpending doom...

I don't really like the way people kill fellow humans in Nigeria like they're killing goats. I know the country is in a mess but do not kill others that could help you.
