Regarding the environment, one can only blame the people, we know how long several governments and multinationals had wanted to bring development to those places but the people would rather be given the money than let them fix their environment. I remember an incident where some infrastructure was going to run through two sections of two major ethnic groups, the objections where the facility will obstruct the worship of their local god so the contractors needed to bring money to appease the gods and when niger delta people demand money they don't call small figures. Regarding the environment, one can only blame the people, we know how long several governments and multinationals had wanted to bring development to those places but the people would rather be given the money than let them fix their environment. I remember an incident where some infrastructure was going to run through two sections of two major ethnic groups, the objections where the facility will obstruct the worship of their local god so the contractors needed to bring money to appease the gods and when niger delta people demand money they don't call small figures. Eventually the project was abandoned.

While I admit there are cases of environmental pollution from bad pipelines which I have personally witnessed, this particular picture is far from it
