This unfortunate incident happened yesterday evening around 7pm in Asaba, Delta state. According to eyewitnesses, the PHCN guy went up the electric pole without gloves to reconnect a personal client and got electrocuted. People who know him said his wedding was supposed to be next week. Sad! See the graphic photos after the cut...

The problem with Nigerians is the problem of short cuts, everybody want to make it quick and fast in this life, everybody feels a delay of 2 mins is a delay in life, what's the essence of the hurry. we all seem to forget core adages and principles of life like "there is no hurry in life", " better be late than be the late".
Disregarding the basic essence of safety cost him his life, here the management must have ignored the provision of basic PPE to its staff, staff in turn will not protest not working without PPE. manage the system manangment will say. but unknowingly it has cost someone his life.
I bet he is not even a full staff yet and so there is no insurance coverage, the company will deny him as a staff, poor staff welfare. they have many of his kind in Nigeria and in this service.
May his soul rest in peace. The only problem here is that people won't still hear. I recall when I was a youth Corper in Lagos and my superior said I should use a spanner to touch a bus bar at a substation, the other Nepa staff retriated to me that I'm not a staff and I don't have insurance and so I shouldn't even dare. That has been my major work policy in this life, if you find work conditions unsafe, report it to your supervisor and down tools.

I thought of starting up a conversation with Mr Potbelly! He wasn’t a young attractive woman but at least he’d be a much needed distraction from the turbulence of the flight. “Juice sir,?
