Question of the day

Here's a question for everyone. Please answer as sincerely as you can. While driving alone on a bridge at midnight, a car that drove past you 5 minutes earlier is involved in a ghastly accident. One of the car tyres burst while on top speed and the car somersaulted severally.

Now the thing is, you're the only other driver on the bridge at the moment, would you stop to help the accident victim? Remember it's 11:55pm... be sincere!!

First thing first, call for help by dialling the emergency numbers.

Anonymous said...

I would want to help but in Nigeria that's basically risking your life, soo the Nigerian part of me will make me zoom off

Anonymous said...

Honestly, I would rather get robbed than leave the person to die, it will haunt me but my fear is not being robbed it is actually being accused by the Nigerian police

Anonymous said...

Sincerely I won't. Why? Because am a lady and it's really not safe for me to stop @ a lonely bridge by 11.55 PM. I have to look out for my safety first!! *OBY

Anonymous said...

Truthfully, I wont stop driving, but il call d police and alert them immediately.

Anonymous said...

I would... No doubt. If it was me I would want someone to stop for me too

nooooooooo

Anonymous said...

This is a difficult question. First you must put a lot of things into consideration: your present state of mind, did it happen in a country while one can easily call 911 or is it Nigeria where the emergency dept is ineffective??

I will stay in my car and call 911 immediately and wait till they come.

Anonymous said...

sincerely, i will stop.

Anonymous said...

I live in the U.S. so my answer might be different. First, you can't be the only one on the road at that time even at 3.00am people are still driving. If it happens that am the only one on the road, I will park my car, lock myself in, call 911, and wait till they come.

Your advice is urgently needed!!!
-pls be constructive! its people's lives u'knw

Anonymous said...

Why not? It's only in Nigeria someone would even ask this question.

Anonymous said...

if d car had got d driver stocked in there, u cant break d car alone nd save him. Most of u dat says 'u wil help wil nt', cos its easier said dan done. d best option is to cal police or 911. even d police wil come maybe 2hrs afta d occurrence. A guy I know died d same way. Had an accident in d nite, bleeded al tru d nite, bt was saved in d monin, bt cldnt mak it afta he was rushed to d hospital

Anonymous said...

No... I won't. It's not my fault...blame Nigeria and its insecurity.

Unknown said...

Park nearby. Lock all doors. Keep ignition running. Switch on hazard warning lights. Call emergency services. Do not leave until they arrive. Stay alert & Remain in your vehicle. Your safety is paramount, you are no use helping another if you are dead/attacked.

Omo this is 9ja we are talking about o, i will just drive pass like i never saw the car and save my self the stress of telling the NPF stories of what i did not see and going to the station.

Anonymous said...

That was in the bible and if i can recall, were it happened was not 9ja.

Dauda said...

911 no dey work for 9ja.

Dauda said...

Am sure you are not from Nigeria or in Nigeria, if not you will know 911 in Nigeria has never been.

Dauda said...

The fact you can watch someone die is the more reason you would not stop. Just saying

Dauda said...

#True9ja God bless you.

Dauda said...

Their is no 911 in Nigeria, here is some little advice for you. If you come to Nigeria and you see such drive off on top speed.

Yea I would. and I have before, I met an accident sometime last year at 3am on my way back from a a frens birthday in Yaba. My frens in the car with me were all too drunk to step outa of the car n too scared too. I carefully parked right infront of the accident car on the bridge and looked for the occupant all around were the accident occured but cound'nt find him. the car was upside down with headlights on tires still spinning but the occupant was nowere in sight. I left thou thinking some other Samaritan had helped. but to my dismay the nextday, coleagues that came to work the next day said he was found on the other side of the bridge in the morning dead. till dis day I still fill he was probably still alive at 3am and I would have saved his life if i had realised he was thrown outa his car to the other side of the bridge.

If God has given me the grace to Help,Y Not?remember it could ve been me or any of my Love ones, forget abt d danger attach to it I believe dat dat same God who has given me the grace to help wil surely n definitely stand by me.

Unknown said...

I will call gor aid via 911.but all the same I will try my best to help out
but to be frank it must be scary out there

Anonymous said...

I will park near enough to see how bad the accident is. Then call for an ambulance. I honestly won't be able to leave my car cos of terror.

Unknown said...

I will drive off and get help and return

Anonymous said...

I will call Lagos state emergency number and drive away. For him to overtake me, he must have been doing over 120km/hr so he must have had a death wish.

Secondly, if I manage to carry him to a hospital and he dies there, won't Nigerian Police not arrest me for killing him?

Oskirin said...

Linda,d way i ws trained,,i will wait n help.u neva cnt tell,u might b savin a life.den,if anytin bad happens,i will leave dt 2 God 2 judge.

Anonymous said...

yes of course. A life like yours is involved and by helping, you can save it.

Anonymous said...

If I was in another country I'd definitely stop without doubt. But in Nigeria? NEVER. May none of you ever be stuck on 3MB at 9pm let alone 11pm. You prolly won't say you'd stop and help the person. Tough situation to be in but I gotta protect my life first. You may think you're the 'only' other person on the bridge but I promise you you'd be surprised at the dozens of hoodlums that'd spring out of thin air.

I WILL WEIGH MY OPTIONS

Anonymous said...

Since it is a clear scene that is has an accident that involves him alone..i might help....everyone who is scared of helping others is because of the fear of how it my turn out.....the police might ask you to write a statement or even accused you of causing the accident....... i am segun

madd-customer said...

Yes. I will stop. Situations have been worse where we stood up and were counted. There is too much apathy in Nigeria, meanwhile we too want to be saved, rescued, helped, whatever. We must put in the work

ZeeZee said...

In my mind I would pray and thank God thinking that would have been me - being a female and fearing that anything else may happen to me on that bridge I'd call my brother for back up (he and his crew) honest talk

Anonymous said...

Seriously how old are you? You mustn't comment on every topic that Linda posts.. She's not going to give you money in December for highest comments. Stop displaying your ignorance I beg you.
