8 years after, we remember the victims of Sosoliso Airline crash

Today Dec. 10th makes it 8 years since we lost Pastor Bimbo Odukoya, 60 students of Loyola Jesuit College and 47 others in the 2005 Sosoliso Airline crash.

Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145 was a scheduled flight from Abuja to Port Harcourt carrying 103 passengers and 7 crew members. The plane crash landed and burst into flames at the Port Harcourt International Airport, killing 108 people. Two passengers survived. May their souls continue to rest in Peace.

Used to watch singles and married by Pastor Bimbo, may the Lord bless her soul, and to the beautiful children, May they continue to rest in peace.
But have the aviation authorities learned anything from the sosoliso tragedy? No, instead of setting standards in the industry, they will only be bothered about doing the 'needful' and buying bullet proof cars.

I weep as I remember the day we lost those beautiful young men and women. Ironically, we had the wedding of my sister-inlaw that day. And the incident shattered our joy that day. But I ask, What lessons did we learn from that tragedy? What?! What precautions did we put in place? What?! As I think about my young 3 young kids, I hurt at the fact of the loss of those other cuddly, beautiful Loyola young men and women.
I really love those kids even as I hurt bitterly. Oh, Nigeria!! -Chima

I lost my Brother-in-law in that tragedy, i can never forget the pain, agony and sorrow we all went through. It was indeed a Black Saturday in Port-Harcourt; not just for those who lost their loved ones but for the entire city. The Chaos, traffic, people rushing to various hospitals, searching through burnt corpses to identify their loved ones. Some memories die hard. RIP beautiful souls, may GOD keep us safe from such misfortune.
