Ok.
Please lets not be shortsighted. The man should probably be in jail. He oversaw the contracts that were awarded during OBJ's tenure and there was no improvement in the power situation in 8 years, with $16 billion spent. Where did the money Mr. Nnaji?
As Minister of Power, Bart was meant to oversee some aspects of the PHCN privatisation process. He owned shares in one of the companies bidding for Afam Power Generation Company therefore compromising the transparency of the privatisation process. Resigning was the right thing to do.
NLC nd NUEE wan use wahala kill d guy na! Hope dz wnt disturb d improvement we've observed in power supply. I hope we see more of dz frm govt officials;if u cant stand d heat...pls leave d kitchen!

if only his resignation would bring positive change 2 d nation's epileptic power the situation would have been better...lets hope we dnt return 2 square 1....GOD HELP US
There should be a total reformatting of the Nigerian government. I personally want the present senators, reps, governors, ministers and even the goat himself(bad luck jolantern) to resign with immediate effect and handover the country to technocrats. #BIGDICKROCKS
Does this mean we will go back to the usual no light situation? I guess the powers that be were tired of us having too much light which meant they were not selling enough diesel to power generators
he has seen something in that office that's way above him...best to bow out honorably
The Nigerian power industry is just like Tinsel script! Unending, evolving and very Dramatic. Don't discard ur gen sets in a hurry!
Genevieve Nnaji father abi? Na joke I dey anyway
First honorable man in this whole government. I wish him well.
linda but i heard sacked.
GEJ is reshuffling his cabinet & he rejected d new portfolio as min of science & technology, power has improve since his short stay..wishing him well in d feature.....let's see if d minister of petroleum resources remain in her position or resign.

i wonder what the matter really is cos we never really know with politics
Is he trying to say indirectly that power in Nigeria is hopeless? Is this why he resigned? SJD

Haba, abi na b'cos of d grey hair? He has tried 2 improve power supply, y quit now dat we r reapin d dividends?
Another experiment that did not work. Na wa for Naija!!!!!
Hmm,dem PHCN koropt staffs hv jaz him out of office. 9ja i hail o!
Bold step i would call this only a few of them can actually do this. Real Good Luck Man in ur future endeavour. Thumbs up Man.
OMG. Why now? U shouldn't have resigned. That means this little light we've been enjoying since the past few months now will be gone. I wonder what made u resign? Am sure its those crazy corrupt politicians dat made u resign. Only God knows what they tried to force u to do and u chose to resign instead of doing what is evil. May God bless u and guide u.
first in history. Waiting for others Lamido Sanusi, Dezieani.........and the list continues......from my amibo tablet
Hmmm Bart...JoNah..hope al is wel wit our UNINTERUPTED power supply!
A rare feat and so unafrican, they rarely resign in this clime, they prefer to be disgraced or sacked. All the best, that was a honourable action.
Linda I read elsewhere that he was fired/sacked...kinda confused.
Topless
I see some resemblance with Genevieve Nnaji....abi na her papa be this?
Lol, just kidding.
I hope they did not threaten his life shaa. Naija we hail thee.
SEE MA BLOG. http://ashirigbakaute.blogspot.com/
why did he resign?
Didn't know we had a minister for this ....so why were we suffering since?! Naija na wa o!! Glad he's resigned. Pls someone with the people's interest at heart should replace him. I'm sure he's stolen enough money to last him a life time. Smh!
Him don chop him own,it's the turn of GEJ's relative 2 benefit 4rm d power sector.....I hav nofin Gud 2 say 2 any1 who had associated him/herself 2 GEJ's clueless administration....live rich now Nnaji
Hian, just as things strted getting better in the power sector, this dude resigns. Its not even funny and for you all sying he don chop him own puleeeeez watch it
You didnt know you had a minister for this????????? You should be ashamed of yourself, people like you should be assumed illiterate. Mtchww
i hear say they forced him to resign when they found out that he wanted to award power plant contracts to 2 of his companies.......i stand to be corrected ooooo!!!!
Linda, this guy did not jump;he was pushed.Even though I do not like to see the misery of others, Nnanji deserves to be fired. Look at the condition of our power industry. Nothing works;no electricity in the country. This guy has to go. The only minister who is efficient in Jonathan administration, is the minister of agriculture; and maybe Aganga.
e don chop finish belle full nah.... im not moved by his resignation jor. he shd enjoy his stolen money nd leave us all alone.
To me it's the same as not having any so go and die if my comment is vexing u.
Back to square one...*sigh
But why resign. Barth is doing very good. Well ore drama will unfold with time.
About time!
Tinsel is rubbish, so I would have to agrEe, cos the phcn is rubbish as well
You can get the details of why he resigned from Guardian - http://tinyurl.com/9ngru5r
In summary
1) He approached the National Privatization Council and told them he had discovered that a company that he had previous links to, participated in the bidding of 2 power plants.
2) He (on his own initiative), stepped out of the meeting to avoid a conflict of interest.
3) From the Guardian - The source said: “The whole process was conducted in a very civilised and business-like manner and as far as the NCP was concerned, the minister didn’t breach any of existing rules in the privatisation exercise.
4) A lot of Nigerians will tell you that Power has improved. We still have a long way to go but at least give the man respect for what he has done.
I have been enjoying light for the past few weeks, I hope his resignation does not affect us negatively
I wanna believe is beyond ordinary imagination cus why now that there is significant improve in power supply that the minister is resigning.Let the govt come out wth the clear evidence cus acceptance of the letter was just too snap.Seyibabs
Onye richa onaaaa! Pesin wey chop belleful can leave. *amrra*
i told you like i has already said,,any prof or any master degree holder that ever tried to work in nigeria under PDP government willl be or already a fool or has been used,,,just called them a useless souls that love money,,how many days has that light show up?jonathan bad and jonathan must be good,,hahaha i laugh
This is first hand info-He was not sacked.grab a copy of Jemima magazine-sept\oct edition. Selling at major malls. He's featured on the cover. Quite revealing!
he want sell some power plant to himself and Oga Jo self get interest in those plants. So he was force out. But Oga Jo no fit try dis 1 with aunty Allison. Really i dont care who owns what all I want is constant electricity. Linda, dont U think if Nnaji had discuss with aunty Allison he would have got away with it. History will surely Judge all of Us
This is a welcome idea when things are not working base on the little they gave out, instead of pushing ahead and expecting wonders or miracle to happen, you resign in other not to rubbish ur name. Great move. Love that.
Hello LIB readers here Barth says why resigned...

Utter Bullshit. The guy tried to buy into the PHCN Privatization process and when he got caught he was forcibily asked to resign. He is a big thief. I only wish the regulatory bodies involved in the privatization of PHCN make sure his companies don't win the bid for the PHCN. This goddamed country MUST change. We the youth must be more aware and stop being so easily blinded or swayed. See through the bullshit pple, see through the BULLSHIT
posting from iraq,i guess!!
only God knws wat next wil happen, bt i suspect a foul play in this resignation or sack whceva 1 s correct
He had to..had no choice involved in a Canadian firm that had already tendered to provide power supply..the firm had been paid and done nothing..this has been raging for months..so hardly a surprise..
Linda I am sick and tired of YOUR bullshit. I hate the fact that you have to approve or review my comment before you paste it. You have no right to do this, it is a affront on free speech. If the post is offensive in any way you THEN remove it not say you have to "APPROVE" first.
@Wolz the man did not deny that he owned shares in one of the companies bidding for Afam Power Generation Company but that was before his appointment and he has sold off the shares when he got appointment.
But I must say that Barth Nnaji tried his best at least there has been improvement in electricity supply. I feel that the generator importers Association are behind all this.
Why do people come here and make uninformed comments?
Btw this conflict of interest regarding Geometric bidding for Afam and Enugu jobs (directly or indirectly) has always been there. They have always known that he as the founder of Geometric (though resigned and said to have sold his shares to a blind trust) must have a good interest in his creation.
This man has improved the power sector from a scale of 0 to 3. He was almost getting to 5. Why wont they just let him?
Anyways he did the honorable thing and bowed out. For the people that abuse him, how many of you would do the same? how many?
Nigerians! Impatient! And they will give you people sugar and you will be begging for salt. Lets see if the power sector reform will continue and most of you here will continue to see light even if its for one second in the day.
I dont know Barth Nnaji in any way but I sure have a lot of respect for him from today.
personaly there havent bin any improvment in d power sector at all,n weda genevieve's daddy resigned or not blv me we won't c any difference, and if i am not sane enuf i wouldnt even believe we have a so called president, president of d militants n militants alone, dis is an eye opener n next time we would vote with our sense and not wit sentiments
i think he took the hounourable which is what we require in dis country.his company wz said to b amongst those bidding for afam & enugu distribution company.on making these known to him,he agreed the bids be re-evaluated & dt he is resigning.if some persons had done dis in d past,we wld hv been better off.i respect him for this.
Nigerians and misinformation! Even before the man was made a minister, it was well known that he had interest in a power company. If he was fired/resigned because of his interests, why wait until now. I smell a rat! The problem in Nigeria is that there are too many cabals. NLC and co are playing out their own agenda with the PHCN staff. A bunch of retrogressive human beings!
August 29, 2012 12:29 AM GBAM!!!

Anyways ou own lady Diezani Allison should take a que from him and resign with all the sexual + financial malpractice scams.
Resign yes. Jail no. We all know that no one has successfully broken the imminent curse in Nepa abi na Phcn. So far he has set the course for the next minister to try. Hopefully we shall arrive.
