Thank you for your tweets Jude; we will certainly address each of these tweets, especially since they are some sorts of allegation:
- Of course, we did not think we are doing your group a ‘Favour’. Just like any other artistes, if you have a great material, we will showcase it on our channel and various platforms. Supporting, promoting, nurturing a talent isn’t a favour. It is obligatory, indeed?
- ‘Begging PSquare’ to Tour with? We needed the content? Soundcity is a music and lifestyle channel, music and music programming forms 80% of our content while lifestyle handles the remainder. We are pretty sure the expense of touring with you then was much more than rotating music videos, make a business case out of this and you’ll see for yourself why we wouldn’t have ‘begged’ as you have claimed in your tweets…but hey! We did it for the LOVE!
- Your job is to co-direct videos, and manage the group and ensure you do things in their best interest ‘reasonably’. Ours is to play the videos if we see them deem fit. Luckily, all your videos are co-directed with Clarence Peters, one of Nigeria’s biggest music video directors, partly a Soundcity Alumni. Please read between the lines of ‘reserving the rights to play.’ to fully understand what it means. Meanwhile, interestingly…our job also partly runs along us advising your group as per better professional input from us, for free.
- We don’t pay Royalties? Your job as a manager is to ensure your artistes’ get their royalty pay cheques. Check with COSON and MCSN, SOUNDCITY pays Royalties every calendar year for music use on Soundcity and on sister channels, the platform carriers (DStv) doubles that effort too. Perhaps you should ask your colleagues in the industry about how that works. - What Blackmail? You decided not to work with our brand, we decided not to work with your brand by withdrawing your videos from our channel and completely stopped doing business with you. Not sure that’s what ‘Blackmail’ means. You took a decision, we took ours too. Simple.

What a shame and complete ignorance of professional ethics from Soundcity. So your Pro or Manager is feeling like a Don now...The only excuse is the fact that you are not a corporate organization and so you are free to display your dick and harries characteristics. #Psquare is a brand and as many as are ready to hate on them ask Wiz kid and co how much they charge. Sound city thank you. This is exactly what we should all do. If someone takes a fight to the public, then he/she should receive their response in public. Simply said, we wanted you to play for free or less but you said no. No wahala. We go elsewhere. It's like one going to the automobile shop for a car. You saw and like a BMW but could only afford a Toyota. No pun intended but na crime? And should BMW hold a grudge because I DECIDED to buy the Toyota?

Your comment make sense but to someone with a shallow understanding of brand management. If truly you know about publicity and brand management you will understand the importance of the sound city reply and the good it will do to save their brand from the bad perception that psquare is trying to create.
When African artists were trying to paint BET black, didn't they responds with brilliant tweets? Did u call them unprofessional for that.
I don't know about the structure and management efficiency of sound city but with this crisis management they just put up, I know they have some good brains behind their brand.
Sound city is one brand that gave Nigerian music the color it wears today because they raised the standard for music video when music Africa and primetime Africa where busy celebrating mediocrity, they demanded for music videos with good quality. P square should be grateful and not greedy.

Anyway, dese r my thoughts: Sound city, first of, it is very clear to us that, ur level of unprofessionalism must hv made it impossible for Psquare to work wt u guys. D person responsible 4 dis write up deserves to b fired Asap. How can u b representing a whole company n u sound so personal like I can literarily feel ur vengeance from here...dis was so unprofessional of u, ddnt dey teach u communication skill? If indeed ur allegations against Psquare team are true, den I wud say u were doing okay in d 1st few paragraphs of dis write up until d concluding part, DAT was totally unnecessary. U could hv simply ended wt an APOLOGY to ur fans for d drama n to Psquare fans DAT watch sound city for d inconvenience dis has caused them. This would hv made it less personal n more professional.
