Photos: GEJ commissions cenotaph for soldiers killed by BH since 2011

President Jonathan today commissioned a cenotaph in Abuja in remembrance of military men and women who were killed in the North East while fighting Boko Haram militants from 2011 to 2014. The cenotaph, an empty tomb built to honor a group of people whose bodies are elsewhere, was built at the National Military cemetry in Abuja. Another pis after the cut...

Building structures for remembrance is ok but improving the security situation in the country and the welfare of their loved ones is more important

A clown who chickened out from Born to motivate his soldiers as commander in chief or assuage the pains of parents whose kids were kidnapped as their leader was busy deceiving himself in Abuja. Pathetic!!

He is a moron for calling this piece of garbage a cenotaph. It looks like someone came up with this "project" from left over blocks from another building project and got awarded 50 million in the process.

This Jona is such a fool! How did we end up with such a joker as President? U won't provide the soldiers with proper arms to fight BH but will commission a cenotaph. Meanwhile, your corruption is why they r still dying there till tomorrow. Amazingly sad!

He should also remember and assist the families such heroes left behind, let him procure better weapons and combat gears for those of them that are still alive so that we have less casualties, let him bring to book all the prominent figures that has been linked to the terror group and let him put more effort in combating these criminals physically and not on campaign platforms...

People are calling jona names for what? What kind of type of security you want him to provide? The army are there and we have police they all have guns and bullets even some polpolice use there bullet to kill civilians whats hasn't he done for nigeria? Should jona kill him self for nigeria? Or you guys want him to join the military? Corruption and killing and stealing in nigeria didn't start today and people here are beneficiary of the stealing nigeria cause some corrupted politician's in our families, jona did send those thiefs in airport to take bribe and he also did send police to take bribe even in hospital he did send people to steal electric cables or like to thief's in lagos to collect money many nigerians once they travel outside they praise the country, come back home never try to make any change do we all think is government that is working in all individuals brains you see in abroad? As a person think what have you done for nigeria ? And have a ever lead a group of people before you start making comments and blaming Jonathan

this is very thoughtful of our president. when soldier see this tomb, it shld encourage them to fight to their deaths

Anonymous said...

Lmao joke of the century

Unknown said...

My thot actually.

Look at much the names are abeg. Much more than the soldiers who died fighting Al Shabab (an internationally-known terrorist organisation). Boko Haram (a local problem) has killed more cos the government obviously DON'T want to fight them off. And when these soldiers (one of the best infantries in the world) protest, they get slaughtered by the government that sent them to their slaughter ground in the first place. Either way, it's a death sentence.

Historical Pix; Ghanians Pictured Before Being Deported Back To Their Country In 1983 By Buhari
08:41 Chinedu Andra 0 HISTORY. HE SEE,S DIFFERENCE AND CAN NOT TOLERATE ANYBODY THAT LOOKS OR ACTS DIFFERENT
NOT JUST BY SAYING IT, HE ACTS IT OUT. WE MUST SEE BEYOND THE FACADES.

Ghanians being deported from the ship deck in Lagos on Feb 2, 1983 as they prepare to sail back to their country..While insightful about migration in general, Ghana Must Go (the title refers both to the 1983 episode when Ghanians were expelled from Nigeria..

In the 1970s, Ghana was facing a lot of economic hardship, just about the same time Nigeria had an oil boom, Nigeria’s economy was flourishing. Citizens of some West African countries (mostly Ghanians) flocked into Nigeria in search of pastures green. In the early 1980s the oil boom somewhat subsided and there was also economic downturn in Nigeria due to low oil prices, jobs were no longer readily available even for Nigerians.

The Federal Government decided that the Ghanians and other African migrants had overstayed their welcome. The Nigerian government enacted an expulsion order in 1983, about 700,000 Ghanaians were returned to their country. The Ghanians during the exodus used a peculiar type of bag to move their belongings; the bags were popularly termed by Nigerians as ‘Ghana must go’ bags.
