Comic Republic: Building Nigerian icons for a global audience through Comics

What if you had someone watching the very move of our “heros”to ensure they are doing right by you? Someone just as tough... Someone who fights for all the right reasons? Such is the story of Jade Waziri in Comic Republic's new comic: Vanguards Rising.

Comic Republic fondly called The Comic Republic of Nigeriaare the creators offree Nigerian super hero comics: #GuardianPrime#Avonome#Eru#Aje#Ireti and #HeroGeneration designed to tell stories of our current realities.

The team is made up of young creative individuals – Jide Martin, Tobe Ezeogu, Wale Awelenje, Michael Balogun, Ozo Ezeogu, Stanley Obende, Xavier Ighorodje, FranklinIkechukwu, ToheebIpaye, Mark Onewo and Eduvie Oyaide based in Nigeria and in the UK.
They believe we can all be guardians and using their comics, their dream is to promote values and ethics in the average youth.

They conceptualise and showcase stories that draw from real life experiences, fiction and folktales using Comic Characters inspired by global superheroes.

See some of their campaigns  below:

In the new comic produced by Comic Republic, all their super heros unite to form Vanguards…

In Vanguards rising, you get to meet Jade Waziria Commander in Chief who now watches the activities of the “heros” and this terrifies them. This fictional character even goes ahead to join them on Facebook and Instagram!
Imagine if we had someone watching those we call heros!

Nice one.
Being a trained artist, I have always fantasized about publishing an all-Nigerian indigenous comic book in this vein.
I will still do so someday.
