The Coordinating Minister of the Economy & Minister of Finance, Dr Ngozi Okonji-Iweala, pictured above yesterday, laying the foundation stone of the one of the schools being rebuilt by the govt. She also met with families of the abducted school girls and women leaders in the community. See the pics after the cut...

Minister of finance laying stone school dowwww....how does that work only in Nigeria ......soon minister for works will be talking abt book haram.... (Copied)
Its almost a year and all of a sudden chibok and its environs is the choice place for politicians to visit.
If the conveners and well meaning Nigerians hadn't brought the notice of the international community to this mishap,it would have gone in the way of the murdered 59 boys, Aluu 4 and several other killings.
Some people might say better late than never but I find it somewhat distasteful that a real government(on all levels) would use this as a favor gathering event.
For months, people sacrificed their time, money, emotions and safety to keep attention on the chibok girls, and now a bunch of politicians are swooping in to reap from it.For me,its too little too late and GOD will judge you and your generation (s) IJN.

President Jonathan's commitment to education is not debatable. It is as clear as distilled water. He has invested in himself educationally and has ALL his certificates intact. He has built 14 new tertiary institutions and 125 almajiri schools. Now after the army's successful campaign in the North East, the President is embarking on a schools re-building campaign, beginning with Chibok. The APC's candidate has no WASC to show to Nigerians, built no tertiary institutions, built no almajiri schools. He has not publicly identified with the clearly forged WASC result which his party's propaganda machinery put out. If you hate academic fraud and value education and performance, vote Goodluck Jonathan for President. If you are vulnerable, gullible and helpless, and have Buhari sympathies, handover your PVC to the recycling guys so they cam melt it and make it into something more useful to the society. It will be the ultimate retrogression to vote for a 73 year old despot who doesn't have any idea on how to get his WASC certificate and has no interest in promoting education.
Who will attend the school after completion. They should as a matter of priority rescue the girls ( since Jona has confirmed them alive) and resettle them. Enough of this political gimmicks.
Wait a minute! Ngozi, dont forget to ask ur world bank colleagues, 'how did they see ur visit to chibok + the laying of foundation stone for rebuilding of chibok school.' NONSENSE!!!

We must appreciate the effots of people like the Minister for Finance for taking the bold step. It is a step that will bring back those girls safely to us.
As in eh, see stupid question,u be correct mumu dis gal oo, so Bcos those gals were kidnapped, govt should 4get abt developing d community naa, tink b4 u write. Juliet Take note
Whether it is political or any other reason we must applaud the effort of the Minister at bringing back our girls alive. No one doubts the fact that the Minister is a true Nigerian.
Our people should appreciate the efforts of patriotic ones amongst us like Dr. Okonjo-Iweala on this matter. How else can one explain patriotic acts like that which the minister has done? Only God will pay you back Madam
DR NGOZI OKONJO-IWEALA shows that she is really a mother,GOD bless her for humanitarian work she is doing in chibok, where are the other opposition party claiming they care
Madam, you are a hero but no one is celebrating you. you are a mentor but some detest you. You are a legend but no one celebrates you. Continue your good works God will reward you.
Why are Nigerians always like this? never grateful for anything...only seeking to undermined the efforts of the government. it's a pity!...really a pity!
Madam, you are a hero but no one is celebrating you. you are a mentor but some detest you. You are a legend but no one celebrates you. Continue your good works.I can only pray that pay to back in abundance for your demonstrable acts of patriotism madam
Now Chibok has played host to a senior government official and that is Dr(Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. The fact that this woman can go out of her way to visit Chibok
This woman is not the Minister for defence. She is not the Inspector general of Police neither is she the Chief of Army Staff. She is just the Minister for Finance. And she has been the only minister that has visited Chibok. I think she deserves a round of applause from us all
Hey guys, if you cynics who aremerely being critical ofthe good motives of the finance minister can be sincere for a moment, you'll realize that this country has never had it this sincere in terms of administration. You all perceive her good works in the light of your iniquitous ones. Well, for you the information of the cynics, this is the perfect time to do this just cause...nothing political, guys!
Now we need more patriotic acts as demonstrated by Mrs Minister from all our leaders without exemption. Thank you Dr Okonjo-Iweala we are proud of you!
If Okonjo-Iweala can dare to visit Chibok, nothing stops Oby Ezekwezili, the chief campaingner for the release of Chibok girls to herself pay a visit. Unless the Bring back our Girls group are just shedding crocodile tears, they must also find their way to Chibok and establish their headquaters there where they will be appreciated
I don't know why some people always see everything from partisan politics point of view. Some people still believe that the Minister is playing politics. My question to them is: Is Okonjo-Iweala contesting for any office?
QUIT THE ANIMOSITY GUYS! It's never out of place for government to attempt to curry favour from the populace in election periods like this. Just any government around the world would do the same. That's why government is ultimately by the people.
The honourable minister should be commended for promoting education despite the dastardly act of the boko haram sect in the north east and also to empathize with the parents of the abducted girls. We shouldn’t always resort to baseless and ridiculous name-calling.
I have come to realize that regardless of whatever you do, people will still find fault. Dr. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has selflessly served this nation for several years now and all you can do is point accusing fingers at her. How sad. Why not proffer solutions since you know how best to do the job?
If you have nothing positive to say, please keep your destructive criticisms to yourself. You just keep speaking like uncivil and disillusioned people.
who says that GEJ and his team are not working, they have continue to show their support,The Coordinating Minister show love by laying the foundation stone of the one of the schools being rebuilt by the govt.GEJ GOVT IS WORKING She also met with families of the abducted school girls and women leaders in the community,up PDP
It’s always easier to point accusing fingers while sitting down and refusing to contribute meaningfully to what others painstakingly do to make things better.
The Nigerian economy is now the largest in Africa despite the so-called rise in foreign exchange rate. No one should lose sleep over the rise in foreign exchange it is only a sign of growth. Things are changing. With the economy in the more than capable hands of the charismatic Minister of Finance, Dr. Mrs Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala no one needs to lose sleep over the rising rate of foreign exchange. I trust Mrs Iweala
Nigerians can complain too much, people complained that the government did not visit Chibok, now Okonjo-Iweala has visited the place; the action is followed by heavy criticism.
Well done Dr. Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo Iweala. Despite all the risks involved, you still went ahead to record a landmark event in Chibok. I doff my hat. Ignore your detractors and keep doing what you know how best to do- serving your dear country. May you live long ma.
Come off it guys! Okonjo-Iweala had solicited the money for some of this school rebuilding project since last year September. So it is even too late for you detractors and disparagers to want to start to color public opinion about this noble project since you were clueless about how she single-handedly sort funds for it.
My view is that this woman deserves to be given the Nobel Peace Prize for visiting Chibok as a government minister. afterall what did people like Malala do to be given the prestigious award
If Okonjo Iweala hadn’t gone to Chibok, hatemongers wouldn’t have remembered the Chibok girls. Now she has gone and they aren’t pleased either. There is nothing that satisfies this generation. It’s a shame.
Regardless of whatever has happened in the past, Chibok will arise stronger than ever before and by God’s Grace, all the abducted girls will return home safely in one piece. Rather than heat up the polity with our biases and unguarded comments, can we kindly come together in unity to pray for the progress of this great country of ours? Let’s quit tearing down the minister or other leaders with our negative comments and take up encouraging and building our beloved nation.
Every move of government is seen as targeted towards the coming election. I don't envy any incumbent governments during election periods like this. their well-intentioned moves are carelessly undermined, if not sabotaged.
Wonderful nmarvelous Clinical Tactical Beautiful Lovely Magnificient Excellent Compassionate Ebulient. If you have any other word to describe this woman please add because I don't have any more word to describe her.
I have never doubted the goodwill and motherly instinct of the minister of finance since she took the safe school initiative upon herself and rallied people of like minds together to raise the sum of over $100million outside of government coffers.
Kudos! Ngozi...kudos to you and your good office ma. Your reward is not with ignoramus like some folk on this platform, but with God, posterity and the children who will attend the school many years from now.
Kudos! Ngozi...kudos to you and your good office ma. Your reward is not with ignoramus like some folk on this platform, but with God, posterity and the children who will attend the school many years from now.
Okonjo Iweala is always at the forefront of ensuring that the girl child gets the best deal especially when it comes to educating them. I remember that shortly after the Chibok girls were abducted, NOI rallied round global figures and business mogul to pull resources and establish the Safe School initiatives.
This is goodnews! As the federal troops are denting a big blow on Boko Haram through the barrel of the gun, Okonjo Iweala is leading the team that is crippling these criminals through education. I believe that when this school is finally rebuilt, more girls in Chibok will have a conduscive atmosphere to learn and become great.
Education is the bedrock of any society. I am glad that the federal government under the leadership of the Coordinating Minister of the Economy has deemed it fit to rebuild some of the schools pulled down by Boko Haram. This is surely a welcome development. God bless Madam Iweala. May she never be within the reach of the enemies and terrorists.
It is painful that the Chibok girls are still unfound many days after their abduction. But I am consoled because the government is taking drastic action to educate the children of Chibok despite this huge calamity that has befallen the community.
Wow! I like this. This woman have shown that Nigerians are good people. We will never forget the Chibok girls. They will come back home safely by God's grace.
This is a great one having a woman of integrity visit Chibok. This shows that apart from the fact that she was committed even with her resources she went ahead to identify with the people and also encouraged about the future by laying a foundation of education. Madam Iweala your good heart is something Nigerians should emulate.
Most people having been saying or sort. Some said it’s late, others all manner of rubbish. The truth remains that we can all say what we like, but what has been our contribution. For madam Iweala she raised the topic at the World Economic Forum. And she was part of those who initiated the Safe School Initiative with funds to back it up. Madam Iweala good will is all we need to make the country move forward.
Empowering people with education is the best legacy a parent can give to a child. Madam Ngozi and the government of the day have made commitment to rebuild the school affected by the book-haram menace. They have raised a fund to that effect. She didn’t just stop there, she went ahead to identify with the people. You are great woman, mother and a mentor to follow. Hope others will learn from you, madam minister.
Despite the risk of being attacked by a people who I believe are book haram sympathizers, you still went ahead ma to risk your life. This will go down in history and generation unborn will hear of your good works and commitment to our mother land. God bless you madam Ngozi.
It pains me when people just open their mouth to say whatever they like. Will they expect madam minister to go to Chibok when it is not safe? Even the so called military had to flee that area when the battle was tensed. And people are just saying jibrish. Madam minister when to the Chibok, to empower them with education. Something that was missing in previous administration which led to this book haram menace. This is sowing seeds for the next generation of the people that will be educated in the North. They will know their left from their right. Thank you for this good work.
After all the dollars mama don chop clean mouth... She's ready to come out... Afi coordinating na! Shioor! She coordinate our economy into the hands of the minority class. Policies that doesn't reflect on the citizens.
She should stop this coordinating. She should be finance or economy or minister of both. Disappointed in her. The world bank should be called in to see the mess she coordinated.
Let's ensure PHC and readers are used. We want to see how 17 will be greater 19 this time around. They can get away with it inside pdp but not anymore.
Well done Madam Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. You have indeed shown that you are interested and passionate about the welfare of our girls. Don’t listen to distracting voices coming from the streets, keep up the good work Ma.

who says that GEJ and his team are not working, they have continue to show their support,The Coordinating Minister show love by laying the foundation stone of the one of the schools being rebuilt by the govt.GEJ GOVT IS WORKING She also met with families of the abducted school girls and women leaders in the community,up PDP
Good job, Madam Okonjo-Iweala, good job president Jonathan. Now you have silenced the tongues of the accusers.
A simple appreciation of this woman is not enough. Mrs Okonjo-Iweala deserves an international award for this latest patriotic act
Thank you Madam You are a legend. We need more of your presence and others like you more in Borno. Thank you and welcome to Southern Borno

Politically motivated visit. Too late madam economy destroyer. This woman is so afraid of the years she will spend in jail. Change is here

After all the dollars mama don chop clean mouth... She's ready to come out... Afi coordinating na! Shioor! She coordinate our economy into the hands of the minority class. Policies that doesn't reflect on the citizens.
Even a blind fool knows that's its SIMPLY POLITICS cos it's Crystal clear. Nigerians can be gullible sha...

Madam Okonjo-Iweala has once again proved her worth as the Mother of the Nation. Kudos to you Madam by God’s grace our girls would come home safely.
I so love Madam Okonjo-Iweala; see how she empathises with these mothers being a mother herself.
