i read the interview,the pope recognized that being gay is sinful and merely said when they seek God they should be forgiven.Christ wouldn't ostracize Gay but would call them to repentance.That what the Pope is essentially saying.
If we say we are all Christlike hence Christians and the gay people aren't Christlike, I think you are getting it wrong. Yes, homosexuality is a sin.
