I live around that area, Ori oke precisely, and it's been a constant practice recently where they harass people asking to go through their phones, and label them yahoo guys. Although, I haven't been a victim, but I've been a witness severally. People who live around the roundabout can be very helpful with video recordings, as they see it happen daily, and are close enough.
Damn corrupt idiots of a police. they are always looking for a mean to rob or extort money off you. painfully enuf dey engage the service of agberos to help them extort money from money from motorists which they would come later in the day to collect from the touts.
HM I'M NOT SURPRISED AT ALL POLICE ONCE STOPPED MY HUSBAND AND I ON OUR WAY BACK FROM WORK AT NIGHT ALONG ADENIYI JONES IKEJA AT NIGHT, ONE FORCED HIMSELF INTO THE CAR THEN THEY ORDERED US TO GTB ATM WHILE THE OTHERS FOLLOWED BEHIND US WITH THEIR VAN. THEN FORCED US TO WITHDRAW MONEY FOR "ALL" OF THEM. NOW DAY OR NIGHT ROLL DOWN MY WINDOW TO LISTEN TO WHAT ANYONE HAS TO SAY.
Yes so, its normal in lag, especially ketu. They will ask u to take them nearest atm. That's y u see trailers kill them like chickens on lag/ibdn exp way on daily basis.
Something similar happened recently to my friend in Bodija, Ibadan. Are they even authorized to check people's phones?! And this one they did to my friend was in front of one retired Justice's house o! Nigerian police!
Even they entered my car on Agege motor road, around the airforce base. When they asked for bribe i told them i gave all cash to my aunt i was visiting. They now asked for my atm card and asked the younger police to escort me to show me the nearest atm with a gun in hand. He collected a large sum from my atm before vacating my car. Ambode pls save us from Armed robbers in uniform
Similar thing happened to my husband and I in December 2015 @ Adekunle (just in front of their station) Herbert Macauley Yaba. It was 5-ish am, the obviously drunk police man stopped our car, ordered me out of the car, cocked his gun, got into the car and asked my hubby to drive off a few metres away then he dispossessed hubby of every single cash he found in his wallet, after which he left. Some police men are ARMED ROBBERS.

If Nigerians are treated like this in their own country, then foreign countries cannot be blamed for not treating them better. These wicked actions of the police against innocent citizens who they are meant to serve and protect is a steady and relentless destruction of the Nigerian society.
Similar thing happened to me at festac,on my way coming out from shop rite 3 months ago, they stopped me and tagged me a yahooboy, that I am under arrest for shoping during working hours.pointed gun at me and they dragged me to their car and drove me to festac police, after searching my phone they said I should give them 2million or they will use biro pen and send me to jail, police is no longer my friend
If security operatives who are supposed to protect citizens from thieves turn armed robbers, Who will now protect citizens from armed robbers? Police is your friend; whose friend? Still thinking............ To tell the truth, there has never been a day I pray for any of my family to wear that black/blue uniform even if it is the last job on earth.
Naija police, mo beri o! Although there are still fruits among the weeds.
***Hope my name no dey show sha. Make dem no come arrest me say dem see skeleton for my empty cupboard oooo.******

Police do this things everyday to young men, they see you and ask for your phone and start searching your phone. It's illegal and lawlessness.
Your comment will be visible after approval.

It's normal with our police especially around that igando area... dee
You've been robbed. It's as simple as that.
Get out of this country as soon as you can if you can.
It's not worth the stress
No cctv at the bank to catch the police robbers?
Robbers at the presidency
Robbers in the judiciary
Robbers in the senate
Robbers in uniform
One day for the owner, heads are going to roll soon in this country, literally.
We will start with the senate
