Nigerian witch doctor sentenced to 14years imprisonment in the US

58 year old Nigerian man, Christopher Omigie, who is a self  acclaimed witch doctor has been sentenced to 14 years in a US federal prison for  providing drug traffickers with magical and "supernatural" protection.

At a court hearing yesterday April 30th, prosecutors told the presiding judge, Judge Marcia Crone, that Omigie  presented himself to drug traffickers as a witch doctor who had the powers to prevent them from being arrested while they smuggled banned drugs and was paid "hundreds of thousands of dollars" to give supernatural protection from law enforcement.

"Omigie was consulted by drug traffickers in the Cesar Barrera and David Bazan drug trafficking organizations on a daily basis and before, during and after each drug transaction. The supernatural protections rendered involved card readings, massages (by Omigie) with magic ointments, cutting of the skin with razor blades and the topical application of magic powder, the use of magic amulets, magic belts, magic coconuts and magic rocks (that those being treated were required to talk to)."

According to the Prosecutors,  Omigie demanded the smugglers not to have sex or take a shower after they had applied his magical products so as not to "not diminish the potency" of his work.

"Magic 'law stay-away' candles were also burned in order to protect drug traffickers from law enforcement detection. Omigie would regularly return to Africa, at drug traffickers' expense, to re-new his supernatural powers."

Omigie's attorney, Jonathan D. Goins in Houston, criticized fthe US prosecutors for calling his client a "witch doctor", arguing that Mr Omigie was a respected chief here in Nigeria

"Mr. Omigie is a Nigerian tribal chief, a title he inherited from his father, and he is a native doctor. The term 'witch doctor' is both pejorative and wrong."

Goins said his client had a "minimal" role in the drug scheme and that his sentence is "greatly out of proportion."
"While Mr. Omigie was involved in this drug scheme, he was not a major figure in this, and in fact his involvement was extremely limited and minor," he said.

How can dey sentence someone to 14 for witch craft! That's insane, doesn't make sense at all. These white people don't like us at all, they know exactly what they are doing. Bastards

I wonder why it couldn't protect him from law enforcement .
Lol@ native doctor! Was that supposed to make it sound better ? White people and racism! Even when they try to defend you from it they still end up sounding racist . 'Tribal' chief.......' native' doctor...... As if 'witch' isn't an English word which describes what the accused was doing . The lawyer is basically implying that white people are witches, gypsies and fortune tellers but Africans are native doctors . Nonsense !

His lawyer is a mumu! I've never heard of gypsies or fortune tellers being arrested for practising witchcraft. The law is about what you can prove. If the prosecution can't prove that the accused really has powers then he shouldn't be found guilty. His lawyer should have gotten him off on a lesser charge of misrepresentation. He could have claimed he really doesn't have any power's and was just using the drug dealers.

Native doctor are real physicians using native herbs as best they know to cure real ailments.
Witch doctor Na devil servant using charms and incantations for evil.

I don't think that picture up there is the man because that looks like Caribbean costume! The man took his native doctor career international and was collecting his pay in dollars! Lolz. He must have built a mansion in Benin city and Lagos and ride around with posh SUV whenever he is around in Nigeria!

That aside, I don't really see the basis for convicting this man at all, unless he was found in possession of hard drug! If it's just on the basis of selling amulets to drug peddlers, then it is like convicting other people who had rendered one service or the other to the drug peddlers like their mechanic, doctors, etc! The lawyer doesn't seem to me to be sound and must have been the one that advised him to admit to the crime! Otherwise, the prosecutor will have a hard time proving his guilt!.........Unless, the law of that part of America specifically makes it a crime to be a native doctor in the first place!!!

Aiding and abating of a criminals is a felony offense, the penalty is up to 7yrs jail term , secondly in America having the knowledge that someone indulge in criminal activity and u doesn't report it to appropriate authority is crime

Goaldyn Boy said...

Jacuzy! It is not easy to prove that he aided or abated the crime! Can you explain how he aided or abated the crime?! Moreover if you say I have knowledge of a crime and I say I don't have that knowledge, what will you do? The thing is that the lawyer might be a white racist who was not really out to help his client or he might not be sound in law!!!
